Indeed, to have an anime it'd need a solid story and the loopholes would need to be smoothed over. It'd probably follow a single Knight's adventure into the Clockworks and how they interact with other Knights, possibly supporting characters. Each one would need a reason to stay loyal to Spiral HQ and each to aim for their own particular goal, possibly one with a tragic backstory as the catalyst for wanting to achieve said goal. It'd probably focus a little more on Spiral HQ and how the characters would communicate with them during their trips into the Clockworks. And of course actually see the Skylark crashing.
The enemies could be made to have motivation; to protect their territory (beasts and slimes), to get rid of Knights because they're disrupting productivity (devilites), to feast on the living (undead, including Spookats) and to keep secret their plans for the Roarmulus Twins or under orders from King Tinkinzar (Gremlins) or are programmed to protect its masters or territory (constructs).
For an antagonist, for the sake of keeping in theme with the game would be to have a small handful of antagonists and an even greater, mysterious one. Possibly a mastermind.

I'm not even THAT MUCH of a weaboo. I was initially poking fun at that sort of thing. I haven't even watched all of bleach OR naruto OR one piece. I'd actually love it if OOO made them overly anime as a complete joke.
If you wanted a spiral knights story that actually involved conflict with other knights, you could go all prequel-swag on it and make up some crap plot about how the skylark crashed. I dunno.

Oh, it wasn't that long ago
It was only back ~ circa 2005 when they first implemented that particular filter change - I first started hanging around the #chans since migrating to 4chan in 2004 from 5chan after it imploded due to site owners Thock and Zababab hating each other's guts.
I kind of miss all the raids still - no one really does the whole massive site-crashing anarchy anymore, or quite as well.

I like how the opening scene starts with a setup like in the Cowboy Bebop movie, then suddenly jumps into a ridiculous fight scene. I almost got whiplash from the about-face there, and the "magical girl" genre is not my cup of tea, but I do like how the rooftop scene's pacing puts me in mind of a card battle. That will be a very nice thing if it's deliberate and will be used thoughtfully.
