I am thinking about making a chaos set specificly for lockdown and I was wondering which would be the most beneficial SINGLE uv to get.
The main choices are between elemental defense or shock resistance.

The elemental would boost the defense of the set whilst the shock would be to remove the negative status resist.
If you had to choose which one would you pick/ value more and why.

The other option would be to get one piece shock max and the other piece ele max. That way you negate the negative status whilst still getting some armor buff (effectively ele med on each piece) but the main issue with this is, would ele med on each piece make a significant enough difference?

If I pick one over the other it is likely I won't get max uvs as I don't feel it's worth the money over high equivalent.

The reason i want the chaos set is for the gun damage vh whilst maintaining max sword damage. Also I use alchemers so the ctr would be beneficial.

Well...

I think you should go for Shock UV's because Shock removes Invincibility frames and is very common.

Shock is much more important

Shock is much more important than elemental defense with Chaos gear. Regular shock is bad enough, it's even worse when shock weakness increases time stunned, and total time.

For my chaos, I have one piece that combats its fire and shock weakness (fire low, shock med, elemental low for UVs) and one piece that straight up gives it pure defenses (elemental high, percing med). This is because I like to have a lot of status resistance for shock/fire, and wouldn't want to ever have to deal with being 1 shotted by attacks. If I am going to be using full chaos, its most likely against pure damage things.

Resistance trinkets? Really?

Get shock, as it is the main status used in lockdown. Next would probably be fire, but not too much in LD. Still does a lot.

If you meet me, you'll want both fire and shock resistance ;)

I use double shock high chaos and I have a host of trinkets I swap in as needed.

It's quite beautiful actually :P Much more useful than ele resist imo. Shock is far more dangerous than straight damage.
