Name Change. I've been waiting for this update forever. Release it now... or else v_V

Oh and when you get a name change you can only do it once and your new name will have a little box next to it saying your older name. :3 (Added this after post #6)

For example: You click on your list of friends/guildmates etc. and you notice a few players with a little sign before their name. When you hover over the sign, it should say something like "[oldplayername"previousname"]"or something.

Before you get angrily -1'd with people saying "no this would never work because people could abuse it to break the rules safely"...

This could have two things. More work, less abuse.

-a waiting period before you can change your name that starts clocking down by default when your Knight is created and again when you actually change your name

-hovering over the player's name in the Social tab (or Full Inspect if it's enabled) will tell you their previous name

The reason why OOO doesn't allow name changes is because of how confusing it would get. Here's an example:

Skyguarder and Klipik are friends
I decide to get a name change which is "blueskiez"
I get my name changed, but Klipik doesn't look familiar with my new name.
Klipik deletes me, because he has no clue on when the hell he added me. xD

Runescape implemented such a system. It could work here too.

Hover the mouse over their name to show a little popup showing what their previous name was. It's a simple fix.

You know..

You know the mail that you can get?

Why not get a mail saying that your friend changed names?
That would solve problems!

Would it be stuck like that forever when someone hovers over my name? What if all of my friends knew that I changed my name?

Pistol is best weapon in TF2

It could work. Say you've got two players, Le-Spy and Eng1neer. Now, Eng1neer changes his name to Practical-Problem-Solver. So when LeSpy receives a PM from him, it will look like this:

Practical-Problem-Solver (formerly Eng1neer) tells you: "Now just stop messin' with my contraptions!"

This would occur on the first three PMs new-name sent you, or it would occur if you sent them a PM AFTER they've sent you a PM.

Also, hovering over their name would show (formerly [Previous Name]) for a while. So even if Le-Spy changed his name to Totally-Not-A-Spy, it'd obviously be Le-Spy.

Meh...

Interesting Example Doctor.

This seems more feasible and less abusive.

But honestly you couldn't change this thread's NAME? to something more on point and less VAGUE?
no offense to the idea, but I expected more from this thread when Utrex-Two put a name like that.

But...its the internet and people do anything to get attention to their ideas...
Or maybe Im just really gullible and stupid to expect so much.

Either way a "Name change" for your character is not really life changing its more along the lines of personal preference like a Gun camo in CoD or Medal of honor warfighter, they look nice, but have no impact on how you play.

It should cost you crowns to do so to avoid aboose and spam. At least 50,000 crowns.

There was a game I played with a name change system.

You can simply show their previous name like Draycos said, or you will get a message because your friend changed their name.

It's going to cost some crowns, and I don't think name changes would be spammed that often. Misty-Wellington.
