i run windows XP, i meet all the minimum requirements, have updated my driver and have the latest java installed
however i still get the black screen and when i go to regedit
i do not have any of the registry keys stated in http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/48

which are:
display_mode = 1024, 600, 32, 60
fullscreen = false
render_quality = /L/O/W
vsync_enabled = false

i tried making my own registry keys, it doesn't work either
is there anything else i should be doing to make the game work on my computer?

thanks

I would try installing this

I would try installing this up-to-date driver from NVidia. After that I would re-install Spiral Knights and there's a good chance it should be working.

Did you make sure to

Did you make sure to uninstall the old driver first? I would also undo the registry keys you added. I've got no idea how the game would react to custom settings on first launch.

after reading your post, i tried un-installing spiral knights, un-installing all my driver related programs, installing the driver file u provided and re-installing spiral knights. I also removed the registry keys i added before starting up the game.
it still doesn't work >_<

is it cause my graphics card is not compatible with spiral knights?
i also have Avast and ThreatFire...are these the cause of my problem?

and thanks for trying to help d0gr0ck me, i really appreciate the responses

If you have two security

If you have two security programs installed try disabling them while trying to launch Spiral Knights. They can do funny things to Java when they overlap.

Please reset your screen

Please reset your screen resolution to default settings. Changing it to the smallest resolution right now will not help solve your problem if the game isn't launching correctly.

What is your specific version of Java? The latest version is 6 update 25. Have you tried uninstalling all your old versions of Java and installing only the latest one?

This is really unusual as a

This is really unusual as a GeForce 9400 series card with up to date drivers should not be giving what is usually an error that's associated with driver problems. I feel like something really obvious has been missed. You could try stepping back through the recent NVidia driver release to see if you get lucky.

I am experiencing the same

I am experiencing the same issue, but I am not much of a technological person, so I am unsure whether or not my system meets the minimum requirements...

Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM)2 CPU T5200 @ 1.60 GHz (2cpus) ~1.6 GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page file: 1872MB used, 2437MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX10
Chip type: ATI Mobility Radeon x1400
DAC Type: Internal DAC (400mz)
Approx. Total Memory: 891MB
Current Display Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (60Hz)
This is Windows Vista, and I just installed the most recent addition of Java, so I think that isn't an issue.

Game Works!

Hello! I just wanted to say that I have received yesterday an update for NVIDIA, installed it and now this game and minecraft classic work very smooth and nice :) To everyone who has this problem, look in Windows Updates for a driver card update under Optional updates. By the way, game is great and would like to thank Sega and Three Rings for making me feel like I am a real Spiral Knight.
