Proto sword has the same explosion-style Charge attack as Brandish.
What if you could upgrade your Proto Sword into something 1 star inbetween Brandish and Proto Sword?

Proto Sword exists to fulfill your Proto needs, not to be upgraded into a 1* hybrid mashup mutation or some sorts! What would his brother Proto Bomb and his sister Proto Gun say? His mentor Proto Shield would be very disappointed that he has strayed from the path of the Proto.
But hell no. -145674563454534664512367456745236456735647234567231 A 0 star weapon costs 150 from a vendor and about 5 crowns on AH. You could make a ton of crap with that.
And did you notice that Hot Edge, Searing Edge, SS, Super SS, BB, Big BB, RR, Rugged RW, Static Edge, and Shocking Edge all have the same explosions? You could almost say that Hot and Searing edge are 1 and 2 star Combusters, and Static and Shocking are 1 and 2 star Voltedges.
It would be annoying. You can craft a brandish without having any other sword as a prerequisite.
With your method, people will need a proto sword, then upgrade it, then upgrade it again to get a brandish.
Would actually make things harder and confusing. Not to mention UV farming.
