Mostly pure maximum damage output against Clockwerks/bosses, suchas FSC SLs etc
or just fun bombs that do the same exact thing (max damage) in LD :)

In-time: Dark Retribution (PvE)
Damage: Nitronome/Dark Briar Barrage (PvP and PvE)
Big Angry Bomb although has much higher damage is outclassed by Nitronome due to the insanely high charge requirement. The Shard Bombs aren't bad either but the broken hit-limit causes issues and damage to be slowly cut.
Nitronome is great for Lockdown thanks to its push back, where as Dark Briar Barrage will provide more specialized damage and should do more damage in Lockdown.
Dark Retribution although slow, can eventually stack up to do major damage to slow-moving targets and bosses, but the invincibility frames in Lockdown causes various issues.

Thanks I suppose, OOO should really add a "try out weapon" feature so I don't waste my time making them / purchasing
Your question is really broad, in the title you are asking about PvP/PvE but then asking about SLs, bosses and FSC in the contents?
I would just try reading through the Bombing Guide briefly, you'll get a better idea of what bombs can be used in what situations.
