New status effects

now this was in general discussions, but i thought it was more of a suggestion, so i'm posting here too

debuffs-
Fear-running in random direction, cannot control yourself
Rooted-can attack, shield and turn, but cannot move and hits taken do not free you
Blind-you see only a dim outline of enemies and other players
Confusion-attack at random
Chaos-movement directions are flipped, attack and shield buttons are switched
Doom-after x amount of time expires, does damage based on maximum health
Wound-temporarily reduces maximum health
Clouded-cannot see the terrain
Flip-entire game screen is flipped horizontally or vertically

buffs-
Esuna-cannot be inflicted with any bad status ailment while active
Regen-slowly regenerate health while active
Shield Regen-decreases the delay before a damaged shield recharges and increase recharge speed
Rage-damage taken increases attack and movement speed
Bide-damage taken increase your attack damage
Counter-damages the attacker if hit by a melee attack
Dismantle-can walk over traps without damage

neutral-
Berserk-Increased damage, attack speed, and movement speed, but take more damage and cannot shield
Defensive-drastically decrease damage taken and damage done, slowed down, shield is stronger
Clear-cannot be inflicted with any other status effects while active
Reverse-status ailments taken convert into a random good status effect, vice versa

comes from storeable and usable items drops-
Time Reverse-EXTREMELY RARE. when the rare item drop is used, there is a 5 second delay, then revives you once after you die if you die within the next 10 seconds without using emergency revive
Iron Stance-attacks cannot be interrupted
Turret Stance-roots you, but you get increased attack, defense, and attack speed. all attacks are converted to bullets containing the effects of the weapon used
Death Mark-comes as a throwable item. when thrown, the enemy that was hit takes increased damage
Salvation-EXTREMELY RARE. when used, all party members gain increased movement speed, attack damage, and defense, and cannot be inflicted by status ailments
Disarm-comes as a throwable item. enemies hit deal decreased damage and cannot shield (some gremlins and mecha knights can shield)

i have more, but i can't think of any names.

Oh I have read this in General Discussion. Lets read one by one okay.

De-buffs
Fear-running in random direction, cannot control yourself
Mediocore status. Not be able to control yourself just make the status really powerful and lack of originality here.

Rooted-can attack, shield and turn, but cannot move and hits taken do not free you
This is more like Freeze but strong one. Lack originality.

Blind-you see only a dim outline of enemies and other players
Seems okay but it is most likely not work on AI. Status effects suppose to be work both player and AI.

Confusion-attack at random
Instead of saying random, I really hope you be more specific, something like invert control?

Chaos-movement directions are flipped, attack and shield buttons are switched
No comment here.

Doom-after x amount of time expires, does damage based on maximum health
Overpowered against some enemies and especially boss.

Wound-temporarily reduces maximum health
No comment.

Clouded-cannot see the terrain
No comment.

Flip-entire game screen is flipped horizontally or vertically
Lack idea.

omg this is my idea.. just kidding. Maybe a bit underpowered.

No comment.

Neutral
Berserk-Increased damage, attack speed, and movement speed, but take more damage and cannot shield
This is more like recycled idea from Rage. I hope something more unique.

Defensive-drastically decrease damage taken and damage done, slowed down, shield is stronger
Seems okay.

Clear-cannot be inflicted with any other status effects while active
Sound more like Esuna. I know it is different but no to obvious recycled idea

Reverse-status ailments taken convert into a random good status effect, vice versa
Seems nice.

Usable

I don't understand.

Death Mark-comes as a throwable item. when thrown, the enemy that was hit takes increased damage
Death Mark actually remove defense, so this sounds Overpowered.

Salvation-EXTREMELY RARE. when used, all party members gain increased movement speed, attack damage, and defense, and cannot be inflicted by status ailments
No comment.

Disarm-comes as a throwable item. enemies hit deal decreased damage and cannot shield (some gremlins and mecha knights can shield)
No comment.

Let's break this down a

Let's break this down a bit...

Your thoughts are plausible, but they do lack some constructive thought. Allow me to elevate my thoughts about this:

Debuffs

  • Fear:

This is interesting, though it would likely have to behave very similarly to how it is implemented in Diablo III. However, I would say modify the properties of the status to where the player is in fear for a longer duration if they have lower health. Nonetheless, they will not run in any random direction, but they will run away from whatever/whoever inflicted them with the status.

  • Rooted:

Interesting, but it's similar to freeze. Making it to where a knight cannot be freed until it wears off will raise trivial questions, however.

  • Blind:

This was mentioned in a thread a while back, and my response can be found here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/85005#comment-792385

  • Confusion:

I would say this will be more suitable as where the player has a chance to not attack an enemy, but instead "smack themself" with their weapon for unknown reasons. Sort of making it a randomized curse; you may hit yourself. You may not hit yourself. You may not hit anything!

  • Chaos:

This should influence movement only, as having reversed commands will make it turn into a "lefty flip" from Guitar Hero; you'll be panicking too much to even know what buttons to press to do what you need to! Also, this would be more suitable for confusion.

  • Doom:

Interesting... however, make it to where to player doesn't take damage based off of their maximum health... But rather they are reduced to 1% health when the countdown expires. It'll maintain that "doom" effect found in other games, but it will also at least allow the players to survive and not throw a hissy fit over dying. Unless you make this a very, very rare status...

  • Wound:

So... health degeneration? I could see the spike traps, or anything piercing-related, causing this...

  • Clouded:

"Look mommy, I'm flying! And so are these mean creatures!"

  • Flip:

My eyes are wanting to file a restraining order on that status right now. Noooooo.

Buffs

  • Esuna:

I'll have to vote this down, I'm afraid. This would make some missions, as well as typically-rough combat, waaaaaay too simple if this buff is received.

  • Regen:

I'm okay with this... in the form of pills or some consumable, allowing it to be used as a backup health restoration item if the player(s) receives hardly any health pills from any drops.

  • Shield Regen:

OOO might want to consider reworking the Seraphic Aura to behave like this.

  • Rage:

Interesting... though I can imagine skipping knights with flourishes and wolvers chomping on them continously, and this is not a good picture to paint out.

  • Bide:

Increasing defense would be more suitable for this.

  • Counter:

"Think fast!" Oh gosh... the hilarity this would ensue if this was able to happen in Lockdown.

  • Dismantle:

We need more engineers, but this should disable a certain amount of traps that the player walks over, or generally approaches, rather than allowing them to just waltz over them and shake their flank at their trapped (HAH.) allies.

Neutral ~ I am only interested in one thought here...

  • Berserk:

I like it, especially the thoughts about not even being able to shield and that you sustain more damage. Ah... now this would definitely be interesting to see.

As for the others... I'm currently either thinking about them still, or I'm indifferent about what they are and what they can do.

i don't think OOO would want to add a ton of new vials and weapons with the effects, so i was thinking maybe make enemies cause the debuffs?

i LOVE your commentary on counter

rooted people can still turn and attack, and its a short duration

if wound was health degeneration, that would be like fire.

your CONFUSION sounds good

ESUNA is for short durations, otherwise it'd be OP in FSC

DOOM i mean is a rare effect that has a very LONG expiration time, and doesn't work on bosses

CLEAR also nullifies good status effects

yeah i know TURRET STANCE is complicated
--you stand where you are, but you can turn and attack and all attacks are converted to bullets. say you are wielding Glacius. a normal Glacius attack would launch out a bullet with the same damage as glacius and has good chance of causing strong freeze. charges, im still thinking about

Lifesteal-damaging enemies with swords grant you health based on a small percentage of damage done (other wise cutter would be OP)

True/Pure damage?
--no equipment that defend against True/Pure damage, however, weapons dealing this damage have lower base damage

Wait

So basically turret stance gives you a spur that aligns with your weapon? What if the person has a bomb? Wouldn't that screw them over, or can they throw bombs too?

yeah turret stance is REALLY complicated. probably not gonna get dropped in

When you are malfunctioned, you will keep running the direction you faced. So, I faced my ally, got malfunctioned, and ran toward my ally, and
I couldn't attack, or control my character. After the status timer goes to 0, everything goes back to normal.

Hey this post makes me thing about something :

HALUCINATION :
- Knights : When knight get hit by the status enemy will start poping out on their screen until a maximum amount of number, when knight attack this monster they instanly dissapear and they don't damage knight either. NOTE : Other player who is NOT inflicted with the status will NOT see the monster. EXTRA NOTE : The monster variation is depending on the current level and no turret will spawn either
Ex: When in SL snarby they will encounter Rabid wolver , Drool , And maybe silkwings halucination while in FSC they will see Slags , Pepper Kat , and Dreadnaughts halucination
- Monster : They will start to attack continiusly ( i think it is mispelled ) to thin air or knight in a random changes they even will shot nearby monster who gets too close ( Still we all know it will just peirce thru ) however menders and healers have diffrent mechanic they will start healing knights or monster in a 50-50 changes and even maybe heal itself or full health monster.

Oh and also about the turret stance status would that make sword OP because guns without turret stance deals even lower dmg then sword and now with turret stance sword even can shot far away target ! i think gun should get even more dmg then sword in turret stance . get my logic ?

Wet status

I was thinking about it, and thought that because nick promised more water in the gunner update, why not have a new status where you are wet.

When your wet, your armor gets all dark and little raindrops drip down from them. While you are wet you are slowed downed and your defense for your armor only is lowered. While wet you do not get the fire status, however if you do get in contact of fire the wet status starts to decrease alot faster, also steam starts rising from you, but watch out once your no longer wet you can get on fire again.The longer your in water the more time is stacked on your timer so it increases in time.

So hows that? :)

Yeah it would be good and when you get hit by a water orb it will be good to apply wet too. Oh and would that make freeze status more effective while you are wet ?
