For one i hope this is the right place and thanks for any and all help. I have an Xbox 360 controller that i bought from GameStop and it works perfectly fine. but when i try in to Spiral Knights it wont work. i restarted the client, restarted my computer, and restarted steam several times. I know the controller works because it worked for other games on steam. Anyone mind helping?

Can you go to settings and try mapping the keys? If you couldn't map it, perhaps you need to set up a driver for your controller?
