I'm fairly certain that this has been suggested a few times before, but I couldn't find any threads on it (apparently I'm bad at googling things :P)

I'd like to be able to save multiple profiles for controller maps, so that I can have different set ups for different things. For example, I could have a map for my LD controls and one for my PvE controls. The biggest reason I would like this to be added is that buttons are mapped differently for Xbox 360 an PS3 controllers. For personal reason, I am forced to switch between them a lot and have to go through the lengthly process of re-mapping all of my controls.

Yea, I know this seems like a selfish reason to suggest something, but I still think it would be a good thing to add.

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

I don't see anything wrong with this, +1.
you can also find the control mapper data file and go for backups. but that would sort of go against the ToS.

For Windows 7

To save a key configuration
Open start menu
In the search bar, type "regedit" and press Enter. If your start menu does not have a search bar but has a "run" command, use that instead. Alternatively you can type "regedit" into command prompt.
Press "Yes" at (Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer?)
File -> Export
File Name: (enter your configuration's name here)
Export Range: Selected Branch: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx (Make sure to get this right)
Click Save and then close Registry Editor
Navigate to the saved location in file explorer.
Right click on the File and click "Edit"
Delete any line (after the title line "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx]") that doesn't have a value of three numbers separated by commas. (Anything that doesn't contain the three numbers are related to ignore lists, currently open tabs and channel settings)
Save the file.

To load a key configuration
Close Spiral Knights
Double click on the configuration.reg file of your preference
Press "Yes" at (Do you want the following program to make changes to your computer?)
Press "Yes" at (Adding information can unintentionally change or delete values and cause components to stop working correctly. If you do not trust the source of this information in (file location), do not add it to the registry. Are you sure you want to continue?)
Press "Ok".

I make you black, bluue and red all over

That's very informative Hex, but I play on a Mac. It's the reason I haven't quit SK already, since I can't play any other MMOs...

BE A PART OF SOIL!

User > Library > Preferences
or
User > Library > Application Support

You'll have to find your own way from there.

As long as you don't mind rebooting the game every time you want to change your settings. (actually, I'm not sure if settings are ever reloaded ingame, perhaps when you enter a loading screen, idk)

I searched up 'regedit' in my Finder window and found about 12 .exe files, non of which are in the SK directory (they are all in my wine/prefixes folder for other windows programs I've downloaded and installed using wine). Am I searching under the wrong file name, or is the file just not present for Mac based applications?

While windows has a single registry for every program that's loaded on boot, (which is why windows computers get slower and slower the more programs you've installed) Mac computers have a program-based registry, each of which is only opened when the associated program is. You can find these registry files for each program in the locations I mentioned in my above comment. I don't have a mac so unfortunately I cannot guide you step-by-step. I am not even sure if mac supports registry file editing or backups.
