laptop issue resolved. cuztom keys resolved.. yet more problems about game launching and game closes eveytime i load floor..

Edited: The downloading issue has been resolved. However please look below this paragraph for details on the current issue.

I got a new laptop today and whenever I try run sk through steam the udate window pops up and at the bottom says "Trying to auto detect proxy settings" After a while a message comes up saying that I'm unable to download the game data. it says there is a possibility that my windows firewall is blocking it. or if I know the proxy ip and port for me to input it. However I'm pretty sure I'm not using a port. So I tried checking my firewall for the "javaw.exe" and I couldn't seem to find it. Other people say that I need to create a new rule to allow the process however I'm not quite sure how to do so.

Someone please help. I want to enjoy this game on a more powerful device..

I can't map my left shift for anything. Please help me let me map it for my fourth weapon ):

Newest problems: before when my game was running each time i loaded a floor, be it fsc, lobby or ld, the gane closes and i have to reopen the game.. now when i try to launch the game after if closed just now, the game hangs on the logging in screen.. help please o:

- Can you run other Steam games properly?
- Can you run SK from the SK website web launcher?
- If you are confident this is a firewall issue you can temporarily deactivate your firewall/anti-virus programs when trying to install SK. Can you tell us what security software you might be using?

Try it again now. There should be an update for the game that Steam will download the next time you launch Steam. Or if you leave Steam open, it should download the update automatically in the next hour or so.

Resolved.

Some stuff happened to my laptop (already...) and I had to factory reset it. After setting it up again, the problem still persisted.. So I decided to copy and paste the sk files from my pc to the laptop and that managed to work. I can imagine that I'd have to do this every time an update comes out..

On another note, I was wondering why I couldn't map left shift for any keys under the custom controls menu. On my pc I could have it as my fourth weapon but here it doesn't seem to let me use it for anything. Please help because the left shift is in the most ergonomic position for my hand ):

- Is it possible you have left shift already assigned as the "Modifier" key? (SK controls allows you to assign a Mod key which allows you to combine the 2 keys to trigger 1 action: you can "test" this by trying to assign Left Shift + [another button] or simply searching for the Modifier key assignment in the custom controls menu. SK will not let you assign the Mod key to anything else unless you unassign it first, and I suspect your Left Shift is set to the Mod key by default).
