But does the website version of SK not work now? Does Spiral Knights only run on steam?

Can't be, because when I click on play on the website it loads up my steam account not my other normal sk account (not associated with steam)

Is your account that's not associated with Steam launching SK on the same computer as the on that is associated with Steam?

@ Mystrian What I am doing is clicking the Home page tab on SK website (basically top left here) then clicking PLAY. Then it loads my steam account

@ Bitsbee yes on the same computer. I used to play non steam account on the same computer with my steam account before.

Wasn't there a Steam update that I've heard about that messed up a few things on SK? It might have something to do with that.

Unchecked the steam box thing

It looks like I can. But now you can't have non sk running while you have steam sk running on the same computer.

edit: so how am I to transfer all my stuff between my separate accounts?

Yeah, but I just want to know why the sk website is now associated with steam. It wasn't like that before.

no change for me

I have Steam installed on my computer, but I've never had an SK account through Steam. I've always played SK through spiralknights.com. I have noticed no change in how my accounts function over the past 2+ years. So your problem seems to be specific to your computer, or perhaps to the fact that you have SK accounts through both spiralknights.com and Steam. I hope this helps slightly. Good luck.

So can you have sk steam and non sk steam running at the same time on the same computer?

confused.

What exactly is your problem? Do you just want an excuse to run alts (did stuff to prevent alt farming) Did you try the download (botttom of play page)

I'm not agitated just trying to help

Woah relax. My question is this. Before I could run Spiral Knights on steam no problem. I can do that now still. So no problem there. Steam Spiral knights version is absolutely fine. :)

Before I could run Spiral Knights from the Spiral Knights website no problem. Now I can't do that without having my computer bring up steam and me having to uncheck the play with steam account box. So what is the problem here? So basically if I'm not signed into steam I can't play non Steam version Spiral Knights. I have to be signed into Steam for me to have the option of unchecking the play with steam account box to play my non steam account.

Do you just want an excuse to run alts (did stuff to prevent alt farming)

Has 000s done it so people can't have the non steam version and the steam version of Spiral Knights on the same computer? I don't necessarily mean running at the same time. That kills my pc anyway I tried. So in the 6 months I was gone they fixed it so people can't have 2 separate accounts on the same computer anymore? If that is the case I think its fair this way and less confusing. So now I can get rid of my old account and play on my main steam account. I used to use the non steam account from the website just to mess around as a noob or enjoy the game from scratch. I never upgraded the little fella.

Understand?

So can you have sk steam and non sk steam running at the same time on the same computer?

I don't know about that because, as I mentioned, I have never had an SK account through Steam. All of my SK accounts are through spiralknights.com. I mentioned the fact that Steam is installed on my computer (for other games), to show that simply having Steam installed is not the problem.

By the way, it is possible to run multiple SK clients at one time through spiralknights.com. You can run the standalone client, and also launch the client through your web browser. I used to do this, to perform trades between my accounts.

Thanks for the response. I used to be able to do that as well. But now I can't. I can't have multiple SK accounts through spiralknights.com open on the same computer, lol I don't think spiralknight.com is separate from steam any more on my computer. If I have my steam on, that's it. I have to sign out of that then open the spiralknight.com site up to play that one. I don't mean signing out of steam. I mean if I have the steam spiral knights running I have to log out of that account, uncheck the play through steam then the non sk steam account shows up. But then I can have more than one spiral knights screen up.

Since we're on the topic of Alts/Dual SK Windows, is it Bannable to "Alt Drag?"

I've been bringing Bitsbee to T3 to get him Shining Fire Crystals, due to the fact that I want him to remain a Knight Elite & Shinings only drop in T3. I use my Main to get through the level quicker, seeing how Bitsbee is pretty slow/weak compared to him, too.

ok this should make it more clear

I asked a friend. He was able to have non steam spiral knights and steam spiral knights up at the same time. Let me just make it easier for people to understand my problem. Even Bopp has said he is able to open multiple spiralknights.com windows. My problem is I can't eve open one without having to sign into steam and then unchecking the play through steam option once the steam spiral knight account opens up. Note I don't care about multiboxing, I just hate having technical problems and I hate having my convenience of trading surplus crowns from one account to the other taken away :(

1. I have a main Steam account spiral knights
2. I have a non Steam account spiral knights
3. I go to spiralknights.com home page
4. I click on Play
5. I wait for the next screen to load
6. I download and install non steam Spiral Knights to my desktop
7. I double click non steam Spiral Knights icon, Spiral Knights window pops up then closes
8. I log into steam
9. All of a sudden spiral knights loads up with out me clicking play in steam version of Spiral Knights
10. Steam main account pops up.
11. I can now click back and uncheck play through steam.
12. Now I can sign into non steam Spiral Knights account.
13. I can't have non steam spiral knights account up at all without having to load up spiral knights through steam
14. This was never a problem before
15. Before I had shortcut for non steam Spiral Knights and shortcut for Steam Spiral Knights on my desktop
16. I could load up both at the same time.
17. Friends are able to do this
18. I can't
19. Why?
20. Please help :(

AND AGAIN I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT MULTIBOXING! I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS BANNABLE OR NOT, I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE OPENLY SAY THEY CARRY SEPERATE ACCOUNTS THROUGH LEVELS FOR MORE FASTER CROWN GAIN WITHOUT GETTING BANNED SO ALL I AM DOING IS ASKING ABOUT A TECHINICAL ISSUE I AM HAVING.

I AM ONLY SAYING WHY I AM UNABLE TO OPEN 2 SEPERATE ACCOUNTS ON THE SAME SCREEN NOW, WHEN I USED TO BE ABLE TO BEFORE. THANKS.

hmm......

Ok so on the laptop if I load up spiralknights.com and click play, I get the spiralknights.com spiral knights window pop up and I can sign in normally into my non steam account no problem. So it's only on my main pc I can't do this without having already been signed into steam. Anyone know why?

I updated java on my main pc. On the laptop I chose not to as a warning message came up. Maybe that's why?

Seems as though my computer may be infected. Something is definitely blocking certain things. Youtube for example doesn't work now. I can't watch videos on it.

Do you have any new Toolbars or random words turning into blue links?

Then you might have a serious case of "Parents."

How to remove this spam ware for free. Everywhere I look programmes scan your pc but you have to pay to remove the malware. Norton is rubbish. It just removes tracking cookies.

Note: it is definitely my pc. I went over to next doors house tried it on his pc and it's all fine. Why me!?!?!?!

Edit: yeah it is shared. Whole familia is on it at different times of the day.

Perfect

Start Menu>Control Panel>Install/Uninstall Programs

Scan through the list of Programs downloaded onto your computer, find Programs/Toolbars you've never seen(usually by the date it was Installed), Uninstall/Delete them, Restart your computer, & slap me 100E.

Just skimming through

Try using the downloadable desktop client. When SK also came out on steam, I was able to launch both the vanilla client and steam's.

If you use task manager and know the virus processes, you can manually end them and uninstall. Don't do it if you don't know what each process is called though. For example, Spiral Knights is dubbed "java.exe*32" or something, and other windows-critical processes are also equally fuzzy. Don't terminate anything randomly.

A fairly good antivirus would be 360 Internet Security.

Tldr if you log in to this website with a stream account, pressing play will launch the steam app with steam://launchapp/99900

To dodge this, just launch incognito mode with ctrl shift n.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I emailed OOOs support last night and was quickly sent a response email.

Following their instructions I got the games working separately again!

Basically all you do is this

1. Remove web client SK using control panel uninstall
2. Delete all local content and local files in steam folder for Steam client SK
3. Remove all versions of JAVA
4. Install new version of JAVA
5. Update video card drivers
6. Install web client SK
7. Install Steam client SK
8. Enjoy :)
