I've had a couple of ideas over the last day or two and felt like I may as well share them with you, the loving community.
I fully accept the fact that I'll probably get laughed at.

Idea the first: Starter pack gear!
In it's current state the starter pack gear is completely and utterly redundant in all aspects are collectibility. Within a few short hours of starting a new knight, the mission system *gives* you a cobalt set. As sub-par as cobalt stuff is, as tier 2 gear it instantly outranks the starter pack's measly 1* equipment.
How 2 combat?
Crafting lines. I don't care if they only go up to 3*, at least I'll be able to use them on runs helping out lower level knights.
As with any crafting line, it would require the previous item to be made - or in this case, bought with the starter pack.
So you can only get the gear if you buy the pack. It's as simple as that. No more powerful than iron slug. Okay, maybe a bit.

Idea the second: Troika swings
This one is a bit more ridiculous, in case your brains weren't completely exploded by the thought of entire new lines of both armour and a few weapons. Cough.
So, we all know, the troika lines are horribly annoying to use due to their slow, low-dps two-swing combo. It makes breaking minerals a nightmare, unless you know the swing-swing-hold-release combo. which most newer knights don't.

So I had a thought - another RPG I had played had a heavy mace in it, that swung almost as slowly as a troika - however, after the second hit, your character brought the mace round again, and arced it over their head and smashed it into the ground in front of them.

So, why couldn't sudaruska have this? Besides the howls of despair from the community that echo through to my very ears, and the cries that it's fine as it is (Which it is, but Acheron was OP even before they buffed it), I think that it would really give the troikas some proper oomph in their ordinary combo. So, to review:

First swing - remains unchanged.
Second swing - aesthetically remains unchanged. reduced damage and knockback perhaps.
***NEW*** (super shiny) Third swing, is an animation that is basically the beginning of the second swing tweened into the last stages of the charge. You sort of spin, haul that massive lump of awesome over your head and smash down. Similar, if not slightly increased, damage to the current second swing. Would cause knockback comparable to current second swing also. Satisfaction of finishing combo is increased tenfold.

So, opening up myself to the horde here.
what do you think?

Hmm..

To the Starter Pack I would have to say it would be a nice idea yea. 1* gear pretty much brings you nowhere, well maybe they are useful at T1 LD depending on the stats they give, but still, they are replaced instantly. But I kind of think that makes sense since well... They are starter gear.

The idea with the Troika line weapons would be nice. Would add some variation vs the heavy swords line since, this is just my honest opinion, I don't call the Troika line 'swords'. Acheron pretty much wasn't "OP" before the buff nor was it UP, imo. Acheron doesn't have any status effects so it ended up being a damage focused weapon. Thus having more damage vs other brandish lines.

They may be starter gear, but there's no point to it. you don't start with it. you start with cobalt pretty much right off. by the time that people have though "I quite like this game, I might put some money into it" they've already got a cobalt set.

Because hey, let's give new players one of the most redundant armour sets we have, rather than giving them orbs and letting them make their own choices. 'Cause I can't see any negatives with that.

In honesty the troika modification is just wishful thinking of my part. I'm constantly depressed seeing my Sudaruska being out-damaged by Acheron against undead. The only real way to balance brandishes is to either nerf/eradicate their normal damage output in return for more specialised damage, or give more weapons split damage and nerf everything to keep it in balance.

I tried sudaruska in lockdown today. It literally did no damage compared to the other """heavy""" swords, due to it only being a single damage type, that almost everyone has defence against. GF/DA have split damage, so while against monsters that always have defence against both, against knights the sheer amount of damage is much much more.

It doesn't help that radiants are still pretty hard to get even after the patch, cough-cough-give-us-full-stratum-six-drops-cough-cough.

Why not give monsters more defence against normal but make normal weapons do more damage? It'd be a screwy way around it but it'd be fun. and help normal weapons in pvp a bit.

I'm just spewing out suggestions now. Too bad that as soon as someone says something the devs magically aren't allowed to do that thing any more.

I'm in a really bad mood today.
