Described here. It would be a lot of work to implement (as far as I know), but I think it would make the game massively more playable, and would be a worthwhile investment.
Host State Rewind (This could drop lag all together.)
Look, imposter-sir, this is a bad idea because it's too complex. This idea sucks. Just be like everyone else...like the Skolver clones.
Daw, what am I saying? I'm different to the core. *hugs self*
On that note...bump. Really. I want SOME opinion, please. This is the last bump.
What the what?!
/pulls out a camera

Wumbo bump.
I know you have a camera, I don't care. Is there something fundamentally wrong about my suggestion? Is that why I get no replies?
I don't see anything wrong with it, besides the fact that....
Yeah. I have no clue.
I'm not smart, so i can't see the drawbacks to this technology-wise, but it would just take some things OOO doesn't exactly have;
Time, Resources and maybe $$$.
Time, because of rabid, content hungry people that want content (like me, i want my guns ;_;)
And the fact that multiplayer PvP (which im assuming is what this is for, correct me if i'm wrong) isn't exactly on OOO list of high priorities, since they just threw it out and haven't really made any changes since. But hey, that's just a theory.
Not to mention that OOO are pretty understaffed. so it would be alot to take on.
But eh, i dunno. That's just how i see it, my statements could be valid, or entirely invalid.
This doesn't fix lag. It fixes missing while lagging.
There are a couple key problems in the suggestion and how easily it could mix with this game.
1. Implementation time. The devs for this game are pretty much tied up with all the current stuff.
2. Speed of game. SK is a lot more fast paced (by watching one of the videos there is a lot more strategy and a lot less precise timing in mech warrior).
3. Shields. These don't seem to exist in MW.
4. Abuse. There was one sentence on hackers. I don't buy it. It would be even more vulnerable with a java-based game.
5. Scale. MW didn't seem to have NPCs, so the overall server load would be close to however many players are playing to keep track of everything (with history). SK has instanced levels with NPCs heavily outnumbering the players.
I think #2 is the most important comment here. SK may be too fast-paced to work effectively with this type of change.
Yeah number 1 issue would be the lack of staff and money from SK. Lag fix would be awesome down the road. Good try though!
Y U NO LIKE LAG FIX?
