I will not explain how this gun looks, sounds; how to obtain the handgun; the names of the later star classes; the damage; or the lore.

The Reverberator is a unique handgun which shoots one large [bowling ball] projectile. This [bowling ball] will keep on going to a certain distance, and then return! During this whole process you can move around. Depending on your location, the [bowling ball] will follow you regardless and with that, you can make your strategy: tilt the path of the bowling ball returning back to you. When you shoot the [bowling ball], it will move in a straight path until it reaches its distance. In this process the bowling ball can hit anything and go through it, similar to the final Antigua charge projectile. Of course, the [bowling ball] cannot pass through blocks, walls, or obstacles of any sort. If it hits an obstacle it will from that point return back to the user. It has the same function as the final Antigua charge projectile. However here comes the fun part: the [bowling ball] returns to you! If you move around, you can tilt the [bowling ball]'s path and make more out of it. When shooting from the handgun you can move as fast as you can move normally so you don't have to worry about being hit by an enemy. The ball can hit anything in its path and go through any enemies, but again, the ball cannot pass through obstacles, so if the ball hits an obstacle it will dissipate and after it dissipates you can shoot another ball.

Think about an echo. You emit the sound and have your echo emitted back to you, hence the name Reverberator.

This handgun can chain enemies in PvE and PvP. Very useful and not as unpredictable as chaining with an alchemer.

Here are extra mechanics:

• The ball will glow during its charge. It will function the same only the ball will explode upon contact with anything including obstacles. Explosions from the charge are as large as a 2* Pulsar explosion (2x2 tiles). It also deals more damage and, if any, status effects.

• The I think there should be any status effects really, except curse or sleep.

• The Reverberator could start at 2*. As the star increases, damage increases by each star, the size of the ball increases at 5*, status effects will become more common/stronger by each increasing star, and will gain knockback by 5*.

• Knockback is about the same as pulsar explosion knockback. Knockback is only present with the charge.

• The speed for all starred Reverberator projectiles is equivalent to that of a 5* blaster.

Latest edit:
____________

• Explosions from charge are as large as a 2* Pulsar explosion. (Partly suggested by Klipik[-Forum]).

What are your thoughts or comments? Hope you like it!

The fact that this is a recurring idea suggests that a lot of people would like having a weapon like this.

So is that a good thing?

Yes, yes, of course!

I really like this idea. It totally knocks over homing missile ideas and mixes elements of things together.

There are very few handguns which can chain enemies. If neutralizer is killed I'll be so sad. This will become a great tool for PvP!

So in a sense you're shooting out wisps.

That's a joke... right?

Edit: I did not know the 2* blaster speed was so slow... Changed to 5* blaster speed.

"Knockback is only present with the charge."

It won't be nearly as obnoxious.

I agree with Draycos, pulsar is known for it's inconsistent spam. The charge here should be long enough to not consider a troll weapon. It's chaining, however, looks like it will suffice. That's good not bad.

The real challenge would be making players not break the game with it. I can already see the [bowling ball] being thrown behind walls and forced into ghost blocks of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps it could dissipate if it hits a wall/block of some sort? That could be cool. Then to get it back you'd just charge up and shoot once.

Hey, your suggestion got up. It is viable thinking how the ball will bug out badly... so it is worthy enough to make it up as a suggestion.

I too think it will bug out if the balls went through walls and such. Maybe there's an alternative rather than simple dissipation?

I think dissipation is fine, it makes sense that the projectile wouldn't be able to go through walls. Nothing else can, so why should this?
Also, for the charge attack, I think the hitbox should be bigger than one tile, maybe 4 tiles with strong knockback... Oh wait, that's exactly the same as a pulsar charge. Hmm.

Maybe... the charge makes the projectile behave like a barrier (drakon's/pickups) that damages and knocks back anything it hits, that circles around you and lasts for a few seconds before exploding?

And just to get a frame of reference here, we're basically talking about something like this right?

@ Klipik

I don't feel like the Reverberator deserves such awesome boons. I feel like it should keep its originality and not really have something like a Drakon's barrier revealed upon using the charge attack. As for the size of the explosions dealt by the charged [bowling balls], I feel like a large explosion would become to much of an annoying spam tool and not really be treated like a handgun, but more of a bomb-like spamming tool, such as the Pulsar series. However, perhaps the size of the explosion could expand slightly so it can become certainly possible to chain enemies. I'll take the explosion size in mind and think about it.

@ Glad

I think dissipation is perfect. I don't think anything else could beat it. If you find an alternative please post it.

maybe the orb just explodes and deals damage when it crashes with invisible and normal walls, unbreakable blocks and stuff like that. So you have to make sure the orb is following you from a valid route rather than fire and forget

+1 BILLION DOLLARS!!!

I would love this! I'nd name the ball Rover!

Also does the ball dissapear after a set time? Can I outrun If it dissapears after {time} then it's speed doesn't matter. But If I can outrun it and it lasts forever, I've got a death machine.

Klipik-Forum's picture
Klipik-Forum

How could you outrun it? It moves at Valiance bullet speed.

Abelisk's picture

I have decided that the explosion radius will be larger, but not much larger, than what I previously suggested. (2x2)

@Klipik

Never used a Valiance before... It was too mainstream. (I'm not joking, also I'm a bomber, also I need to get back to working on my Cobalt stuff, 'cuz I wantz Almirian Crusades)

I really like this new gun. Who knows, maybe they will add it to the gunner update :3.

Hey Itsmeandersonlol. Regarding my post on the dissipation, how would it be if the bullets, instead of quickly dissipating, stayed stationary for a short while and then dissipated?

Fehzor's picture
Fehzor

Valiance is actually a pretty nice get for bombers I would think. It's cheap and effective and it would let you deal with whatever you need to deal with.

Glad-Amparus...

No... that would make the gun odd and that particular option would just not FIT in.

Ok, what if the damage for when the returning projectile weakens?

What's wrong with them dissipating? :P
