Every day I go through the forums and are forced to withstand the stupidity is 20% of almost all the threads I see. It's just so redundant, and I've had enough.

People say that the game is dying. If this could be anymore false, it'd be as false as saying that oranges are naturally blue. The game is, under no circumstances, dying or dead. If anything, it is more alive than ever. The thoughts behind this assumption is that OOO is being stingy, money hungry, and greedy, but this is all wrong.

I'm making this post more or so as a permanent link to my responses to this stupidity.

"OOO only cares about money and promos" - FALSE

Three rings would rather care about producing quality content for the game and it's players. If you don't spend money on this game, then why should you care?

"Well, they care about making promos rather than big updates" - FALSE

They are busy, hard at working making one of the biggest and influential updates that will be in SK history. They're making it foolproof, so they don't have to release seven followup patches after that to fix any mistakes. The testing server came out, which proves they're at work, and they're just making the finishing touches. Be patient dammit.

"But, they'd rather just do promos for our money" - FALSE

Do you know how long it takes the art team to recolor an armor set? I by myself could recolor all of the armor in game in less than 30 minutes, it's not that hard to make simple PALETTE SWAPS. Also, can you blame them for attempting to keep their business alive? What would happen if your complaining about the matter stopped the promos, they ran out of money, and the game had to shut down. Then SK wouldn't even exist, and you'd have nothing else to blame but your impatient attitude.

What do you think your petitions, your rants to OOO, your greediness, and your impatience is going to accomplish? All it will do is continue to discourage OOO to the point where they won't feel like doing anything anymore, and they'll just give up on our beloved game. What OOO needs is /encouragement/. This way, they'll produce quality content much, much faster than if you're ranting at them. If you really care for SK, you'll support OOO, and be patient with this update, and wait for the game to get 100X better.

Dude, ppl have given up on ranting a long time ago, there is no point, just look at how erie the place is. If this doesn't tell you just how many are disheartened by OOO's actions, I don't know what is. I don't care how OOO make their games and when the day they shut down the servers it would be completely their own fault, not ours.

ps. be patient won't make the content come out faster, neither does ranting, cheerleading, OOO's butt kissing, crying or black mailing. You might as well do nothing about it. And who knows, maybe one day the update will come out... hmm, can someone remind me why we need a freeze polaris?

But besides not buying them, just spending your money on other stuff or writing a rage thread on the forums (well not necessarily a rage one heh) what else should we do to let them devs know what we think?

People don't just pay money because there's a way for them to pay money.
They need to have value that the players think are worth paying for. In the old energy system, you could really tell when there was a successful promo because Energy prices would spike down, making life better for us F2P players. Non-successful promos didn't move Energy prices.

Promos tend to be scheduled ahead of time (because you can know when you're planning to have certain events and schedule them along the year). These things tend to be done ahead of time, because otherwise, what are the artists doing in between the event periods?

OOO only cares about money and promos..?
Artists are the primary work behind reskin content.

So... if OOO is only working on promos and only cares about money, what are the programmers doing then?

If the programmers aren't doing anything and OOO cares about money, they'd get rid of the programmers.
That means no more new features. No more bugfixes.

Now if their programmers haven't disappeared AND they're not putting out new features then (take your pick):
a- They're needed for bugfix/maintenance
b- They're working on a new game (moved off the project)
c- They're working on new features but are taking a long time (running into bugs? complicated feature?) and nothing can speed them up.

I side with the 3rd option here. As a [former] game dev, I understand they've been focusing on trying to fix the new-player experience with the focus they've had on updates over the past years, but as an end-game player, I don't like the fact that I haven't seen permanent content for so long. It could be them biting off more than they can chew (ex: thinking the gunner update could have been released last year) or it could just be bad choice of direction ("Hey, let's make temporary content instead of permanent content!").

If Three Rings was that thin-skinned, they would have stopped already. Games that people are passionate about get a lot of passionate complaints, and that's just part of being a modern game developer. But that's the interesting thing: it's better for people to be passionate enough about your game to complain than to be apathetic about your game and leave it alone.

The reaction from normal people when a game isn't going the way they want it to is to stop and do something else that entertains them.

The irony that you made a pointless post about pointless threads is glorious.
We get it. But just because you made a thread, doesn't mean that the "stupid threads" are gonna stop.
Heck, you may have just dug your own grave. Since some people are going to continue just to spite you.

Posting how angry you are on this subject, will not make it go away. We will always have those people.
As for being impatient, BE PATIENT.

If there is one thing that i have learned from this game, it's that patience is required.
You don't have to play this game, play other games, there was just a huge sale on steam, did you not buy like 4-5 games for like 3 dollars each? Play those instead. No ones forcing you to play the game while you wait for new content.

Making these posts because you're mad is only adding to the pointless thread pile. I mean, all you did was just reiterate what was discussed on those "stupid threads".

Let these people think what they want, they are the vast minority, including the people of the forum, we are the minority, i barely ever hear people complaining about this stuff in game. As far as OOO is concerned, these people are just yelling in the dark.

And stop making these threads, please. You aren't the first one who has done this.
Again, its better to keep your mouth shut than add to the rant pile.

Cause I'm a gamer. I play games. When I'm bored with a game, I don't demand it change for me. I play another game until I'm not bored.

Can I PLEASE give OP and Seiran all of my love for proving what I've been trying to prove to this god-forsaken place since I've been here?

Topic related: This is indeed my exact thoughts of the forums, thus the hostility and narrow thinking has made me quit for approximately 5 months after I crafted my Jack Froster. I would continue to contribute to this place if everyone could take jokes and stop being like MvM meta elitists from TF2. Everyone needs to stop being so rhetoric (thanks, Pandafishie for teaching me the word) and face reality. I stand by what I said a long time ago: Picture yourself in the shoes of a OOO employee and pretend you're looking over the nauseating, hateful outbursts people are spewing in your, no, everyone's direction. Did it cross ANYBODY's mind to recall the phrase "Good things come to those who wait"? No?

Before I leave this hell-blasted landscape (free cookie for the reference), I have my last will for a thread planned out, and I will release it when the time comes. Hopefully for a new age of acceptance, compassion and actual deep thinking.

Just to clarify, I'm not completely defending OOO nor am I expecting the second coming of Spiral Knights when things like the gunner update come out. I see potential in what they've done, but am also disappointed by the fact that most of the cool stuff is stuck in temporary events.

If people complain, I prefer they have a better idea of what they should be complaining about.

ex:
"ugh all OOO is doing is trying to grab money with promos!" <-- Probably wrong attempt to read intent, unless their programmers are no longer working on the game.

"ugh OOO is taking so long to release a major update." <-- Descriptive of behavior, undisputable

Again, I am not being a pessimist, but I just don't see any reason why anyone should cheer OOO up or keep them down, it is their game, not ours, and we do not own any piece of it. Unless, of course, you brought in game stuff with RL money, but even then you can't make the final call, the lead designer will always have the final say, and if he/she thinks that Rad drop rate is too high, then none of us can stop him/her from changing the drop rate.

The samething can be said about the shard bombs, UI, LD balance and auto aim, did you ever see OOO gave a squat of what we have to say? No, they don't, and who the hell preferred buying brizeboxes alone instead of combined with CE in the survey? Without CEs, the expensive cosmetics have no place to go and the promo abuse will quickly run dull and dry. OOO is playing a dangerous game here and you know it, but even then, it is their game, not ours, they can do whatever they want with it, let it burn or let it rot, it is up to OOO.

If you don't like the game, don't play it.
Who told you I don't like the game? I loved the old UI, the art style and so on, and when was the last time I played a round of SK? I can't remember.

Your ranting is pointless.
I didn't rant or being pessimistic, I am just telling you the truth, if OOO wants to toy around with their games and rip us off during the process, it is their call.

Let OOO do their job and be patient.
Do you know why I am still here putting up walls of texts for you to read even after some of my best forum pals are gone? BECAUSE I have more patience than both Draycos and Arcknightbeta combined! And I sincerely hope OOO don't shoot themselves in the knee caps anymore. And hopefully they will return with glory.

There isn't a community of awful trolls out to get you, rather, they're spread out and have come to this conclusion independently. If anything, perhaps there is an element of truth behind what they're saying, even if it is largely false on the whole.

In all honesty, Three Rings is doing a good job with their game. I'm just tagging along for the ride, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. When I want to do other things, I can go do them without being a doomsayer. In fact, I honestly enjoy the promos. Not as constant as they've been coming at us, but I can still appreciate them for what they are(And simply not buy into them if I am not interested in the promo).

This isn't rocket science, people.

i don't care about the boxes... but after playing on and off for a few years (started hmmmm far before misions let's keep it at that) and now picked the game up(?) again after i dunno months, a year? i can't remember... but still, i enterd the game, played some maps, solo'd FSC (after all that time) and i get the feeling i'll get bored even faster this time around...

new(er) content in the form of maps and weapons i can remember? (ignoring the misions wich kept me entertained for a good while on ME/CE no less) the obsidian thingamegic... what ever it's name -_- run limited time content for... well reskinned weapons with a new uv or something
cataclism (or what ever) get lucky to get a hat (the hat is awsome, that's not the point)

aaaaaand... uuuuuhm... hmmmm... oh yeah compound lvls! :D oh yeah nobody likes those little critters (and i am one of those who keeps avoiding them... they are just anoying things you just want to get rid off)

so yeah... new(er) players have enough content to browse through. people that are left from the old age want new stuff to do and for us the game is (getting) boring.

and for the record i'm not saying the devs are money hungry, lazy or what ever... but pooping out promo boxes :s it's getting a bit... stupid :s sure people keep paying for it and by all means let them. but there are other people who would like to play something else and if there's nothing to do they'll leave simple as that. and yes... i am a (old school) P2P i bought CE packs, have the guardian pack, DLC, etc. and with 1000+ hours spend in this game i think i've seen everything this game has/had to offer. i farmed milions of crown every month just because i liked the game but my friends got bored and left and new friends got bored and left... see what i'm getting at?

the game isn't dead... it's more in a hibernating state of some sorts. also we used to get updates allmost every month from the devs just to let us know what cool stuff they are working on or what crazy ideas they came up with. even that is lost to the sands of time it seems... there is ZERO news on the gunner update! a litlle hint of stuff they are working on would be nice and would also bring about some nice topics discussing the "upcomming" content. but oh well...

I suppose my wording is a bit off, but that doesn't make the thread any less ranty. Just responding to threads that you want to respond to with these answers is that "response". Technically you could just link back to the same comment in every thread, that would work too. But making an entire thread that is about other threads is pretty ranty in my book. Disclaimer or not it's still a rant (See: Make an offensive remark and follow it up with "no offense". That doesn't make it any less offensive.)

That being said, I enjoyed your rant. It's a bit hostile but matches up mostly with my own ideals.

And now I'll go kick our bucket friend over here:

No, the game is still very active. Just because you are not playing this game does not mean others aren't. Especially after the steam summer sale, I've been seeing a whole lot of lower-level knights wearing the gold wolf set, so I'd only assume we've gotten quite a few new players from those shinies. I'm sure someone could prove/disprove my statement via the steam charts.

There's no news of it on Three Rings' front page, but if you wander over to the testing forum you'll find quite a bit of news from over there. It sounds like you've been gone a while, and are just coming back now, but we've had plenty of news in regards to that update during your absence.

Nick promised upcoming features and in the end he's always right about them, so if you do spend money you're helping out a lot regardless of what you may believe. The artists of the game do an amazing job either which way and well... like any other games, just wait for the content, if you're bored of spiral knights play something else in the meantime, it's not the only game out there.
