so i wrote a support ticket to the gms about the gunner update and thought you could be interested in the answer:

Greetings,

I can understand your frustration with the wait on the gunner update, and we
are just as anxious as you are to see it live. In the past, we have announced
ETAs for the gunner update, but unfortunately there were some setbacks that
obliged us to extend the wait. Rather than making promises of an ETA for the
gunner update and breaking it again, we've opted to go with "when it's ready".

While it doesn't give you an ETA of when the update will be released, I can
assure you that progress is being made (as you may have seen in the testing
feedback forums). The guns certainly look like they're visually ready, but
there's still some tweaking and changes being done based on feedback, which is
why the update is taking longer than anticipated, not to mention the buggy
nuances that sometimes crop up. We're hoping to have everything in working
order before releasing it to the public. Until then, you can adventure in the
Clockworks or converse with fellow players while you wait.

We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you.

Best wishes,

- █████ (i duno if the gm would like to read his name here xD)

well

It looks like ooo is working of the gunner update. It's just our fault it's taking so long because of the people in the testing feed back

I would rather it take a long time than be unfinished when it came out.

...I would also rather they worked on and released it in little pieces, so it didn't feel like nothing was happening.

I don't know how believable this is. Not that things don't need tweaking, but that 3 months of tweaking seems a bit..... more than tweaking.

Maybe the devilites at OOO need a little overtime.

Because they want to connect Gunner Update to Arcade Redux and AR (Recipes at Basil) must be connected to Mission Update and this must be connected to New Boss. Just look at recent update history and a files. It might explain why GU is delayed like this. Something big is coming, but I won't spoiler.

@Mtax

Well yeah I'm not going to rule that possibility out because it seems somewhat likely, but that isn't what the game master said, was it?

@Darkblot

Yeah that's fine, everyone deserves some vacation time. But all summer?

Do you remember "Support talks to community" topic? Aphrodite said there are things they cannot say us. :p
Theres number of possiblities, but that one logical for me. Between Announcing GU and today they made a updates that confirm my theory - Arcade Redux Part 1 and Small mission update that does prepare story for it. People say that OOO got lazy, but that makes hope for me.

Well, it is clear they are working on something. And as one of the people on the testing server, those guns look nice but have some mechanics that needed to be reworked a bit. Not to mention the multiple sets of gunner armors that probably need to be condensed down into 3 specific sets.

Three Rings wants to release the GU as much as anyone else, but when you introduce new content to existing content you usually end up creating new issues. Take the Battle Sprite update for instance, solved some old problems while also creating new ones. Three Rings wants to minimize this as much as possible, which is going to take time.

Hard to be patient sometimes. .

I hear you on that Jabbzz. My advice is just to not think about it. Distract yourself with other stuff like TV shows, rant about how the new TMNT movie beat Guardians of the Galaxy, or wait for other things like Half Life 3.

On the test server, it felt

On the test server, it felt like most of the guns were designed by people who don't play the game at all.
Or, at least people who didn't put a lot of effort into designing the guns considering they claimed to have been working on it for 6+ months.

Additionally, I feel the only reasonable reason they are taking this long is because when the update does come out, it will be without any bugs, as they spent this long perfecting it. That being said, I am more likely than not going to bet on the update to be a bugfest like none have ever seen :/

That being said, I am still hopeful for some additional content :P
edit: I also feel like the devs are extremely sensitive to criticism that they honestly deserve. You're in charge of a game that many people enjoy, of course they're going to feel betrayed when content is released every 2 years.

Maybe, maybe...or maybe they just need some Gran Fausts :D

@Widdlebubbles
I thought things in the test servers are only meant to be discussed on the test server forums? Or has something changed 0_0 Be careful when you post comments about stuff that is still under development.

I think my comment about it

I think my comment about it ws incredibly open ended, and I don't think I revealed anything about what I saw on the test servers. Also it's been like..a few months since they released the servers hasn't it? It'd make sense to keep it under wraps if it was an ongoing process...but it clearly isn't. :| (the test servers I mean)

If we had just said to OOO that everything was absolutely perfect, we could've had the gunner update ages ago!

I mean, hey, if OOO needs to get the update done faster, maybe they should look into some players here who know some Java? Maybe we could make a thread indexing all the SK players who have a good ability to program using Java, and OOO could pick a few to expedite the update process? :D

^Zeddy actually offered to help them, i.e. sent a letter to the GMs saying that he would assist them with producing content, and they turned him down... and he's no amateur either, from what I can tell.

Speaking of which, I don't think we can really use the excuses "small development team" or "need money" if they're unwilling to accept free help.

Well, to be honest, we should send them feedback like it's free candy.

And tell them to nerf the Pulsar line into the ground for me, by the way.

Am I a bad guy for not even caring about the Gunner Update?

I want Arcade Redux more than anything.

Qutie what Fehzor said. Zeddy had a wacky idea. He sent a wacky letter to the SK support saying that he could help out with debugging. He said he was ready to sign secrecy contracts and all, but OOO ultimately turned him down.

Zeddy's definitely no amature. He is by all means what you call a professional developer, but I guess saying more would be to not respect his privacy so I'll leave it at that.
