Overcharged Mixmaster = Totogun?!
Fresh idea. They put some unique stuff into boxes and then sell them. I want to see green items next time. I think that they can make more promotions with that awesome boxes. It's so cool to buy prize boxes, cause it is prize and it is box. Let's pay few dollars for prizes!
Odds are pretty fair this time around, I wish I still had some change leftover from the last 5 promos to buy the stuff straight up.
I wonder what the stats of the new weapon and shield are?
Anyone know what they're reskins of?
I'm guessing... Blitz and Volcanic Plate?
Don't worry, by the end of the day, someone will have the Overcharged Mixmaster and Power Mitt. Then the pics will comes.
Power Mitt IS NOT a reskin. It's unique shield with stats of Heater Shield, but defence of Fire instead Freeze. This makes it unique promo item. It's UNFAIR to put this into prize boxes that will be not avaible after 2 weeks. OOO stop pls, you are breaking the fair free to play I believed into.
Power Mitt isn't unfair, Grey Owlite Shield is all around better than a Heater Shield with fire instead of freeze resistance.
*Sits tight for Overcharged Mixmaster*
I agree and disagree.
I was angry when I missed the first BK event (I was on a hiatus). The *only* piece of shadow bomber gear in the game and it's a limited event item!?! How dare they!
Luckily it was not impossible to find extra materials and make it. Also the BKs came back. Overall, it was OK.
A fire-status Heater is not a game-changer. You want Ele/Fire? You have Owlite, Omegaward, and Dragon. Not obtaining one is not the end of the world by any stretch.
The only piece of truly unique gear that has been released via $$ prize box was the Celestial Shield. I can't bring myself to get up in arms about that though--it's not actually useful. The Celestial Shield doesn't fill a specialized niche that was heretofore empty until its arrival. It's a neat piece of fluff, a fun toy. Same as the Power Mitt.

There's an obvious allusion to the Power Glove from Nintendo with the new Shield:
'Now you're cooking with power!"
I love you three-rings.
So I asked a gamemaster about the mixer thinking it was a reskin:
"Testing the mixmaster briefly, it does not appear to be a reskin. I'll leave discovery of the item properties to the players. Mysterious!"
:|
I didn't want to steal the thunder from any of the first players to get to play with the new toy. With most new things players usually have them figured out and information posted by the end of the day. After pioneers have gotten the chance to show off their new shinies, I tend to be more candid with questions on new items.
Sorry to be vague!
After having tried the new toy out, I want to kiss your dev team.
So you guys do love making us find out things.
...Someone update on the new handgun please ;-;
Edit:Glacies!, Share the spoils of war and pics. D:<
Can... Can we see it?
For science?
And envy?
I just love how they named their thread "Mix it Up!"
How about "Promoception!" Promos based on previous promos but with a few "new" things added to make it look like we aren't scraping the bottom of the barrel just yet. Stay tuned for more gunner update delays and possibly another Rose Regalia event with 3 more new colors. Maybe we'll do the gremlin ones again after that... and then this stuff again, and uh, yeah..........
...oh my god that looks so overpowered... and amazing <3
So, a new shock gun that looks damned amazing.
You win this time, OOO.
So that is what the 5 Star Winmillion would be like. Better run Brandish Line!
Nice power creep weapon! As if Lockdown couldn't get any worse.
Spiral Knights is dead.
Lots of buzz around that this weapon is like winmillion.
It's not even close. I also think they used this idea which if they did, I'm glad I could help OOO out =)
The gun though. I want it.
The gun is shock status that does collateral damage. that screams op in lockdown and can only be obtained by purchasing it. This isnt fair at all since the average player has no way of obtaining it unless they save maybe 1mil crowns and buy it off someone. i hope this isnt the start of OOO making op weps that can only be bought. I hope they atleast re-release this wep with a new skin that is craftable in the next big update, oh wait that will take a year.
A boomerang weapon isn't something new, you know?
"As you might have guessed, Overcharged Mixmaster and Power Mitt were originally developed for missions of a culinary nature. "
Maybe they'll release the handgun/shield when the cupcake event rolls around again, as some sort of super token reward.
Instead of this "pay to get new content" thing.
Might as well sell it as DLC instead of gambling.
So I found a couple of bugs on the new gun:
1) The damage is normal-damage. Not elemental. The gun lies!
2) Collision is another thing. You can hit your allies in lockdown (not damage them) but causes problem.
the first one is the biggest issue I see though.
could you post a round of you playing with it in LD? id really like to see it in action, and edit in doritos and MT.dew on the side. And when you kill someone edit in WOAHH noises made by 12 year olds, you know the videos im talking about.... if thats not to much to ask...
When did SK reach the point where the actual update is less interesting to me than the Fehzor post that follows it?
And to think that I was actually quite pleased with the game for NOT having any big new gets at 1%. The glove shield not being a reskin is at least somewhat acceptable due to the existence of a better free alternative (why not just make it a grey owlite/CoA reskin though?) but the power mixer lacking a free alternative really makes me want to just flat out leave the game.
I suppose the real issue that I have is that this will most likely sell significantly better than the other marketing strategy of just spamming costume items, and that every single bit of content produced in this fashion hurts the game a bit. The finest example I can offer is the Plants vs Zombies series of games by Popcap and now EA Games. The first installment cost like two dollars, and the second instalment was fremium, where the money to be made came straight from selling gameplay mechanics. The obvious problem with giving two bucks to get a plant was that it felt like a cop out, and the less obvious one was that I would never get to really experience the premium plants, cutting out a significant amount of the entertainment to be had. I'm sure that this will profit SEGA, but it does not make for the game that I came here to play and it does not bode well for the already dim future of Spiral Knights that, at this point last year, could not have looked brighter.
we honestly should at this point....
Boycott Spiral knights 2014 campaign!
Screw it where all going to come back in 2 weeks for the next promo.
I completely agree with Fehzor here. No matter how much I love this gun, it's insanely horrible that it's a pay-to-win weapon.
I'm a Gunner/part Bomber. Missing out on a Boomerang like gun is going to drive me all sorts of crazy. I've got just slightly over 20,000 Energy, hopefully that will help me find a seller. If not, then I am off to slam my head against a wall a bunch of times until a Mixer falls from my door.
The Power glove is, cool. I guess. But I have a feeling that no one is going to find it useful to own when a much cheaper and way more effective alternative is in the Hall of Heroes.
@Glacies
Oh thank god. I was prepared to have to argue that the game shouldn't be pay 2 win to people. I updated my post a minute ago btw, cuz I saw that someone actually wanted to read what I was writing.
DLC with the hammer and the seerus mask and the DR was and is justifiable for new weapons.
If these had come out in a new DLC pack, it would have been equally as nice, and similar to the way the other weapons were interfaced into the game. Gremlin Cook is a member of the 9, anyone?
It's like we're in the final stages of a cash grab before letting development quietly slip away into silence.
Operation Crimson Hammer was (and is) somewhat different for a number of reasons:
Another aspect of OCH was that it wasn't as well received for the obvious pay to play and win aspects that it happened to bring with it.
At least they are 10% and not 1% so might be possible to find a few in the AH later on.
I wasn't happy with the OCH weapons either at the beginning.
While the bomb is rubbish at lockdown, it didn't stop from being the most powerful thing to ravage RJ ever yet (not that it was hard to do that to begin with), and it still is pretty good at taking out sluggish monsters even after the eventual nerf.
Even worse is the hammer that, while it required some skill to use on PvE because of hazards, it could easily wreck the whole enemy team, specially if it was flocked on a single capture point or against anyone who wasn't a striker hopelessly running away from its dash, SPECIALLY if it has maxed ASI.
Despise this, I didn't mind too much because lockdown always sucked and I rarely played it and the powercreep bomb was very welcome to help me farm RJP. I still think it's crap to sell exclusive weapons for real money though.
We've been getting new mechanics from event or promos with weapons and shields for a while now... Maybe these are going to show up as craftable new lines in the gunner update? That would be great, especially since we all have just expected reskins with different damage types and various tweaks. Maybe we didn't see everything in the testing servers back then that are being released like so to find bugs before they are fully implemented?
Just a bit of optimism.
I actually like when certain weapons/items/accessories are limited. It doesn't make sense that every knight on Cradle would be able to acquire every rare weapon.
Not everyone is equally skilled (Boss Weapons) or lucky (Kat Hats) or wealthy (Promo stuff). That's life.
Don't forget: We're stranded on this planet (I think. I wasn't paying attention). Resources are probably limited. So wealthy Knights would probably have a bit of an advantage.
I doubt I'll end up getting this new weapon (unless I can buy it for crowns in the AH), but that doesn't make me feel like I won't be able to win. If anything, the game is too easy.
I know I've commented enough on this thread by now, but how can I not?
@Poetry
Yes, but wouldn't it be nice if we could you know...... briefly escape those aspects of the supposed "real" world, where rich people take over third world countries and lucky babies are born with HIV? Those kinds of things aren't normally dictated by any sort of logic because the humans both can and cannot control things. But we're different, because we have the opportunity to be more than a sandbox for the rich or a world governed primarily by anarchy, especially when putting up with a handful of necessary evils does not have to wreck our ideals.
But guys, it's one of the <10% options (lets say 5%, if we assume equally) and not the 1%. Doesn't that make it a balanced available thing to the game? It looks really fun too.
Do the bullets pierce enemies, glacies?
I understand how you feel about it.
But I know there are people who spend real money on this game. And that money helps keep this game and its development alive. So I feel like those people should be entitled to something nice and unique and special.
The reason I don't spend money on this game is because there's rarely ever anything to buy that's unique and limited. If I spend money, I want a guarantee that I get something valuable back in return. And in order for it to be valuable, it would have to be limited.
Although, right now, I really don't see much of a point in getting a new weapon to fight old enemies in the same old dungeons. That's why I was in no rush to earn the torto guns. And I'm in no rush to get this new weapon either.
But like I said, I understand how you guys feel about it. New items are always cool. There's no denying that.
OOO is getting pretty darn close to breaking the barrier between F2P and P2P. I mean, the mixer may have a fair chance of being obtained in the boxes, but not everybody is able to spend money on the game and has a ton of crowns/energy in game, and they shouldn't have to in order to have access to equipment that is completely new and unique. I know I'll probably never have the chance to own this gun because of these reasons. OOO, if you are going to give away weapons with unique mechanics in your fancy prize boxes, at least provide less fancy alternatives with the same mechanics for the rest of us in game who can't buy the boxes or items themselves. The power mitt though? It's neat and all, and completely unique, but there are far better alternatives, so I'll leave you alone on that one.
You can become rich as a Free-to-Play player and buy off the overcharged mixmaster... Ask Contri. He knows how to get rich as an F2P player.
Those are actually some really nice odds.
Last time we had a food-based prize box I ended up getting only cleavers so we'll see where I land with this one.
