Is everyone sad about the game?

Hello, I've been playing the game since it showed up on steam and drew my attention, however I've never posted anything on the forums, I've only read topics so far. Anyways, from what I see lately on the forums many people seem to be disappointed in how OOO is doing things and I just wanted to know, is anyone who is not completely hooked on the game or currently spending money on it happy and satisfied with it?

Also, before answering, think about the time you've been playing the game for and have in count that a person usually can't play a game for 3 years or so without getting bored with it.

The only people who voice

The only people who voice their opinions at this point are those who don't like some aspect of it.

People who are satisfied with the game wont say anything until they find a problem.

people love the game and love to complain

Almost all of the players you see on these forums love the game. But some players also love to complain.

Three Rings doesn't produce new content as fast as players want. Even if Three Rings produced content four times as fast as it currently does, veterans players would burn through that content, get bored, go on hiatus, and come back when there was new content. The simple fact is that Three Rings is not productive enough to supply a human being's complete entertainment for the rest of his life.

Don't let the mood of the forums affect you. Just enjoy this wonderful game.

OOO decided to stop communicating with us coz we trolled them too hard and their self-esteem was hurt bad. They say they stopped commenting on forum to stop feeding the trolls, sadly, they failed to realize ignoring someone doesn't make him/her hate you any less. I have gotten over most of this game's content and I would say SK is a good game: 7.5 / 10, the lack of content is what stopped it from getting a higher score.

I do not know how many people are happy/angry with the promo, but judging by the fact that EoS's blog page, bechamel's gossip is very inactive, I think it is safe to say even the members of the biggest merchant guild is starting to get bored of the promos OOO is offering, I don't blame them, if I spent 10000 bucks on a game along with my guildmates, my guildhall better be the best pimp house in the town.

Hi! Welcome to the forum of old farts!

That's really a question better-asked in-game. Most of the active forumers here are 1+ year veterans of the game but found some reasoning to keep playing or connect themselves to the forums (in other words, would be closer to the end of the player life cycle of join-play-'finish'-leave). You're likely to find people who have either been around for a while or are crazy-hooked enough to get into the forums. Speaking for myself, I've been around (well, took a year away from everything) since a month before Steam and am really starting to show the signs of the end.

Promos have almost never been relevant to me and I've never spent money on the game. I nearly did as a token of thanks for the good times, but the Radiant Fire Crystal drought reminded me of a time when a game company I worked for told me to make our game impossible to win to try to force people to pay (--> this choice completely killed the playerbase for that game, by the way), and that did not sit very well with me, so I continued to stay F2P.

Reading back, this actually sounds pretty negative, but I have a neutral/lukewarm stance towards OOO. I don't believe they're not working on content, but at the same time, they've taken a long time to add permanent / mid-endgame content (they've done a bit for new-player content though!). That unfortunately gives the illusion to people that they're not working on anything except promos. :/

I was satisfied with my experience (but also have low expectations/don't fall for hype too easily), but I'm also aware that I've been around so long that parts of the game have died to me.

I used to be a very active

I used to be a very active member of Spiral Knights. Ultimately, the game did just become too boring for me. Many updates between early 2013 and now have been fairly inconsequential, and the major updates that have been done mostly have served to make the game easier than it was. I don't know. I really loved this game, but I just can't play it anymore. The only thing that remains a persistent source of entertainment for some veteran players is Lockdown, and I don't really enjoy Lockdown that much. Feels like there's really no place for me. But if/when they DO release new missions (permanent missions that aren't part of any promo), I will most likely come back and see them through, at the very least.

So, yes... I am sad that I can't enjoy the game anymore, but I feel like it'd be inevitable eventually. I did play from Summer 2011 to late 2013. I guess I had a good run.

Heating system

Something that Seiran have reminded me of by mentioning the radiant fire crystals is that the heating system introduced by the sprites patch really affected the game experience. I, as a player who played before the previously mentioned update, felt that the heat you got in missions or in the arcade didn't really mattered anymore. You got a bunch of heat and at the elevator you saw how your weapon/armor started heating up at full speed just before hitting the new "leveling wall", the feeling of watching how your equipment leveled up 1 or even 2 levels in a run was lost. And it became worse in places like FSC were there isn't even a forge in between depths.

I think that those.... little things damage more the game than actual "lack of content".

Midnight, you keep using this phrase over and over: "We trolled OOO hard and that hurt their self esteem." Care to explain how exactly we "trolled" them? I'd like to hear.

Welcome to the forums, don't

Welcome to the forums, don't get down by some people griping about lack of updates, if you want updates play AQW (then comeback after you find out how much pay to win this buggy game is), if you want quality play Half life 2 (don't expect any updates soon), if you want excessive amounts of cosmetics in a game play TF2.

SK is a good balance of all this, sure it has issues but all games do.

SK's not perfect and it makes

SK's not perfect and it makes me sad to see the forums in the state that they are, because we have had confirmation that the team is certainly trying, and I super respect them for continuing to work despite the community's reactions to it.

so no, the game itself doesn't make me sad, just some of the people. I'm also sad that I don't have more time to play it these days. :C

Hmm..

Sad about the game? Its not the game that makes me sad its how the SK community is nowadays. With all the "SK is dead" threads and threads hating on all the promos (which some of it is justifiable), lack of real playable content, and all its imbalances/glitches I find myself staying away from forums. In no way is it wrong to do this, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I feel like this is all that people focus on about the game. Which is sad, because the game still has many great aspects about it and believe it or not, the game still has the potential it did 3 years ago to be something really special.

Like Addy said, I wish I had time to play SK. But with college combined with work, I rarely find the time to play any game. I think of SK as a starter kind of MMO, because when I come from playing say Rift and hop onto SK, it is soooo less complicated and way too easy/repetitive. But I still find myself coming back, because I've always been a fan. And I will keep coming back to see what's going on, but until there is actual new permanent content that both paying and free players can access, my interest will be towards other games.

Well I guess, but I don't see them posting here that often, even. Each of us is far more vocal than the supposed community that hates the promospam etc.

well im really sad about the state of the game. if you make a thread about asking content, community go after you like if you were an heretic in the days of church. if you make a thread about the lack of communication between devs and players, you get hunted down like a dangerous animal.

but its seems fine if you make a thread about how a next promo should be a mix between vents and headphones, or war costumes, or well anything that give more dress up to the game and not more permant content (even if it just small thing to do).

but oh well, maybe because that the game its like how is right now, well glad to meet you op and have good day, im going to hide myself before the inquisition come after me just to post this.

Cheers!

(and yes im still sad about the state of the game).

too repetitive

The threads you're describing aren't inherently bad. That's not the problem.

The problem is that there have been 100 threads before them, discussing exactly the same things. We simply can't read threads about the same stuff again and again. It's too repetitive. And don't tell me to ignore the thread. As anyone who's used the Bazaar forum knows, real estate on the front page of a forum is precious. Garbage threads pollute this real estate.

In addition, when someone starts a thread about a topic that's already thoroughly covered in other threads on the front page of the forum, it's disrespectful to the community. It's basically saying, "I can't be bothered to read other people's threads, but everybody should read my thread, because I'm so important."

Exactly. I'm tired of these threads! Make threads that are imported or, NOT THREADS THAT ARE ABOUT PEOPLE WHINING THAT SK IS DEAD! People did that since the START of the game. It Is really SAD how people do the same thing every time and It Is boring! Stop with the useless threads already!

Yes

I'm frustrated by the Dev team of Spiral Knights. I love this game. it has an amazing artistic direction, spectacular soundtrack, and incredibly fun gameplay mechanics. But it's dying on its feet because its focus isn't a rich, enjoyable experience anymore. It's more about "how much money can we get from people?"

I think Spiral Knights should be relaunched as a single-player game with multiplayer elements, much like other action adventure games like Torchlight, Diablo, Soul Sacrifice and Ragnarok Odyssey. I want a giant focus on story, and instead of releasing prize boxes all the time, Three Rings could develop actual paid expansion packs to further the narrative and introduce new features/equipment.

The Cradle is such a beautiful world, and I'm really sad to see it in its current state.

SK badly needs new content, period. Anyone who says otherwise is mostly a trader, LD addict, prestige fan boy, dress-up barbie or a new player.
