So as many of you know, Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U is coming out soon, and me and my friends would really like to see a Spiral Knight as a playable character.

Possible Moveset:

Standard Attack: The knight does a 3-hit combo with a Voltedge.

Up+Attack-The knight slashes the target upwards with a Leviathan Blade. Charging it will cause the knight to do a spin while attacking.

Side+Attack- The knight attacks with a Divine Avenger. By charging it, it also sends out the sword beam

Down+Attack- The knight brings out a nitronome and begins charging it. While doing so, it cannot attack with anything else or shield, but it can move around. Then, your input on the controller will determine where the Nitro will go. The knight will throw it(direction depends on your input on the controller) and cause it to explode shortly afterwards, causing a huge explosion and knocking back anyone caught.

Standard Special(attack): The knight fires in the direction it is facing using a Valiance.

Up+Special: The knight summons his drakon and commands it to use his Explosive Firestorm attack, doing minor damage to anyone caught in it, for balancing reasons.

Side+Special: The knight summons his maskeraith and commands it to use it's Quils in the direction the knight is facing. If it hits, then the next attack that the target takes will do double damage.

Down+Special: The knight summons his seraph and commands it to use his valkyrian aura, granting protection from all damage for 4 seconds and causing minor knockback. (final smashes are not affected by this)

Also, after a sprite is summoned, the knight will have to wait 10 seconds before summoning it again or another sprite.

Final Smash-Crash Landing: Knights are crash landing onto Cradle, but some knights take a wrong turn and crash land onto the battlefield, dealing major damage to anyone hit and causing major knockback. However, the crash pod won't explode, but will instead just sit there if it doesn't hit. Then, a knight will come out of it, and begin fighting. These knights can be defeated though, if they take enough damage.

Also, as an extra, when the knight shields, instead of just putting a barrier alone, it will bring out an Aegis along with the standard smash bros. barrier.

Basic costume: Cobalt Helm and Armor

Extra Costume ideas: Volc Salamander, Skolver, Snarby, Shadowsun Stetson, Azure(5* cobalt), and Chaos. Note: Costumes do not apply the bonuses that they apply in SK.

P.S. For those of you PS4 and X Box users, super smash bros. is for only Nintendo consoles, in case you were wondering why I didn't add the other consoles in the title/subject.
--------------------------------------------------------
Possible Questions:

Isn't it too late to add any more characters? - Maybe it is too late to add it into the regular game, but DLC could add in Spiral Knight.

Does OOO(Three Rings) have any connections with Nintendo? - No, but OOO is a company under Sega, and Sega has connections with Nintendo. Therefore, OOO would tell the idea to Sega, and they would tell it to Nintendo.

How will this benefit OOO? - It may increase the popularity of Spiral Knights and may cause more people to start playing it.

----------------------------------------------------------

Let me know what you guys think of my idea, and how it can be modified. :D

I wish, but SEGA doesn't care about OOO's or SK(Or of what I heard). And SEGA Is friends with Nintendo. But great suggestion. Maybe ask Nintendo or something through mail. Be sure to use screenshots because that mostly should help!(Use Spiral Spy!)

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

SK isn't big enough to make an appearance in smash bros. look at the franchises in that game and you'll see that they are way bigger than SK has ever been.

:(

yeah. Sadly SK Is not a big game. They need MUCH more content(None currently,) and much more players and ads! Like maybe ads on sonic Ipad/phone games(none sadly!). Oh and more Devs!

We can still dream right?

I'm still hoping Galacta knight, Yoshimitsu, Mokujin, Nightmare (soulcalibur), Big Daddy (bioshock), and The Soldier (TF2) somehow make it in. Probably won't happen but this is still a better idea than another "Ridley for Smash" post.

Besides Smash has a habit of pulling out random characters, Pit (in SSBB hadn't had a new title in years), Captain falcon (still hasn't had a recent title),
Mr. Game and watch, R.O.B. (he's hardware!), etc.

The only knight we should send in is Jorin from the HOH, Azure set is the face of SK and putting some guy with Chaos Cloak in the game (while accurate of SK) doesn't promote brand recognition.

Can Still dream. Dream on!

True, true.

@Galax Yeah, we can still dream XD.

@Thunder Yeah, I know, but I just wanted to get this idea in hopes of something happening.

@Holy-Nightmare True. Ridley will probably be an assist trophy.

Either way, I'm still getting smash, but imo, this would've been a great addition. Maybe they could make some sort of character download website, that could allow you to choose a character, scan it's QR code, and download it into your copy of the game. However, you could only use the character in single-player mode, because some characters may be inappropriate. However, a site like this may take a lot of effort, but we can still dream XD.

Nothing is scary when you add Tetris music!

For one, we already know the full roster for characters though, so Knights really have no chance at all right now at getting in. ((Unless some magical SK DLC came out of nowhere, but I think it was said somewhere that there won't be any DLC))

Sorry to burst your bubble

Really, I'm just hoping Quote (From Cave Story) gets in SSB5. We can always look forward to SSB5.

Oh yeah, and what about the recovery move, or smash attacks? Maybe swinging a Troika for a smash attack?

@Blaze-Neos I'm pretty sure Ridley is a stage boss

Blaze-Neos's picture

@Crazee

1. They said they had no plan for DLC, as in they don't have anything that they want to add via dlc right now. This doesn't mean they won't add any DLCs, it just means that they don't have any ideas.
2. Recovery move could be similar to Link's, but with a levi blade.
3. Charging up your moves in ssb would be like charging up a weapon like in sk.

@Neos What? Nowhere in my post did I say anything about charging your attacks, I just asked what the smash attacks would be.

Actually, some of these attacks might be better as smash attacks, mainly the DA attack.

And we still also need to do its aerial attacks too

EDIT: Possible customized moves

Iron Slug: Increases damage but reduces speed

Supernova: Very low damage up close, gains more damage and eventually even some knockback the further it goes

That's all O have right now, obviously they're the customizable moves for neutral special

Sonosuke's picture

(~O ,O)~ #Sonosuks

Maybe you should change up the moveset a bit.

The whole charging thing you put is how the smash moves work.

Standard Attack - Leviathan would work better, as it's the primary weapon used by the average (NPC) Knight

Up Attack - Maybe the same, but with a different weapon

Side Attack - Double Shot with Nova Driver

Down Attack - Low Slash with Wild Hunting Blade

Dash Attack - Run through them with a Final Flourish

Up Smash - Whack them to the stars with a Sudaruska or a Triglav (random each time)

Side Smash - Brandish Charge. Assorted flavors. Nuff said.

Down Smash - Drop a Nitronome

Special - Dark Retribution

Up Special - The Knight pulls out two blast bombs and smashes them below, exploding upwards

Side Special - This would be the Sprite Attack move. Sprite abilities are the same as OP.

Down Special - Switches the Battle Sprite currently being used

Aerial - Regular Slash with Leviathan

Up Aerial - Upward Tortofist punch

Front Aerial - Iron Slug shot

Back Aerial - Valiance Shot

Down Aerial - Regular -> Expanded (not Charged) Supernova Shot

Final Smash - Dual Sealed Sword charge release (DA and GF together), then Vortex Bombs, and dual Antigua charge release (Argent and Sentenza together), releasing the birds when the Vortexes explode

Eah.

Not happening. Spiral Knights is a product by Three Rings, which is owned under SEGA, who's iconic character "Sonic the Hedgehog" is already in the Smash Bros franchise. Nintendo is the one who owns and decides these sort of things for their game, and likely won't be adding lesser-known characters from other companies into their games. (Kid Icarus is owned by Nintendo, as is Game & Watch, F-Zero, etc.)

And I agree with Holy-Nightmare. If anything, Spiral Knights should probably be wearing the more iconic outfits, such as cobalt armor. If not cobalt, various proto armors would work, all in different colors. (Perhaps "Default/blue" would be 4* cobalt + blue personal color, green would be military flak jacket + round helm, red would be toasty sallet + cuirass, yellow would be regal tailed helm + culet, and I can't think of any other colors at the moment. I would say give the knight cobalt-set weapons and proto weapons depending on the color, but regardless all do the same thing.
Final smash could be a whole lot of things, especially bosses. Snarbolax reskin of Ganon's smash? Battle sprite reskin of pokemon trainer's? So many options.

Again it's not happening, but it doesn't mean we can't make the suggestion better.

Can the Final Smash be summoning the Roarmulous Twins on either side of the arena, and they do their laser attacks?

Going to link another persons impression of a SK Kight moveset.

That reminds me, we need to do taunts and throws

Perhaps for a final smash, the knight could fall over as if they died in the game. After a short while on the ground, a explosion would occur near the knight dealing good damage and excellent knockback as if the knight used a SoL

FREE FOR ALL. CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER. BOSWICK.

First of all, it's a shame none of you guys bothered to post this.

Secondly, Smash Bros. is far, way beyond Spiral Knights' scope. Were Spiral Knights to have a chance merely due to the fact that SEGA owns the copyrights and license to it, we'd sooner have Bomberman now that he's part of Konami. Ideally there should be a similar game setting but with SEGA characters as the focus of the cast.

And lastly, the movesets presented so far are cluttered with weapons for the sake of showing off without a single thought of the knight's action dynamism. Keep the weaponry simple and basic, gears should not be the sole, entire focus of a knight's abilities. I'll give my own piece of mind in a moment.

The appearance is important, especially the default appearance. This will serve as the representative face of the Spiral Knights name. The Cobalt armory (I will personally settle for Solid Cobalt, gotta have that shine) serves this role very nicely, as it is a symbol of the Spiral Order and broadly used in the promotional art. The arsenal would consist of those that come with the set: Calibur, Blaster and Blast Bomb, complete with the insigna-carrying Great Defender.

In order to hold a faithful regularity with the ensemble of the attacks and abilities, the Proto sets would make excellent alternate appearances (at least the three original sets). The armory give the knight distinctively bright and varied looks, while the weaponry (Proto Sword, Proto Gun and Proto Bomb) basically acts just the same as a Cobalt knight's conventional arsenal. The Proto Shield is also the default shield for these sets, but otherwise is identical to the Great Defender. Here are my suggestions, still unsorted for the "8 costumes" criteria per series:

    COBALT SERIES

    Solid Cobalt*
-Tempered Calibur, Super Blaster, Super Blast Bomb.

    Mighty Cobalt*
-Ascended Calibur, Master Blaster, Master Blast Bomb.

    Azure Guardian**
-Ascended Calibur, Master Blaster, Master Blast Bomb.

    Cobalt*
    -Calibur, Blaster, Blast Bomb.

    Ignition*
-Tempered Calibur, Super Blaster, Super Blast Bomb.

    Tri-Guard Helm and Tri-Guard Armor*
-Tempered Calibur, Super Blaster, Super Blast Bomb.

Beta Cobalt* (armor set and shield have the old beige and turquoise textures)
    -Calibur, Blaster, Blast Bomb.

Spiral Crescent Helm and Spiral Brigandine
    -Red) Toasty-themed, Red Personal Color
    -Blue) Cool-themed, Blue Personal Color
    -Yellow) Regal-themed, Yellow Personal Color
    -Green) Military-themed, Green Personal Color
-Proto Sword, Proto Gun, Proto Bomb.

    *Personal Color is Cyan.
    **Personal Color is irrelevant.

    PROTO SERIES

    Spiral Sallet and Spiral Cuirass
    -Fancy-themed with Cyan Color

    -Dusky-themed with Emerald Color

Spiral Tailed Helm and Spiral Culet
    -Regal-themed with Cyan/Cobalt Color

    -Toasty-themed with Turquoise Color
-Reference to another recurring appearance in promotional art.

    -Fancy-themed with Blue Color

    -Military-themed with Orange Color
-Reference to an early concept art.

Spiral Pith Helm and Spiral Brigandine
    -Cool-themed with Green Color
-Reference to the artwork used in the beta preview trailer video, the Vanaduke Steam Card wallpaper and one of the forum avatars. (...oh, wait a minute.)

    -Toasty-themed with Orange Color

Of note, I really want to allow the knight to display most of the different eye expressions as a contigency with a variety of situations (excitement, fear, pain, anger, confusion) and not keep the same static eyes as they do in SK. This work of detail is very important to prevent the knight from bearing a stale figure in contrast to the atmosphere Spiral Knights tries to convey via its character art style.

Now, for the moveset and animations. You will be seeing quite a number of ressemblances to other Super Smash Bros. characters...

    General Movements
-Standing stance: Doesn't get much more basic than this.
-Idle animations: The knight curiously turns his/her head around to check the surroundings, rotates his/her shoulders and/or arms for reasons and a random Battle Sprite appears from the knight's hyperspace to playfully distract him/her before being told off back to standby (sprites can be jerks).
-Crouch stance: Steps down on one knee and guards the front with the shield. Projectiles hitting the shield will be blocked off automatically.
-Walk: For the older players out there, reminisce the moment when your knight starts walking when highlighted in the older character menu screen.
-Run: The running animation we see for a very large portion of our playtime.
-Jump: The Spiral Knight's jumps feel somewhat heavy and low, similarly to Link's and Snake's.
-Shield: Shielding animation. The shield does not shrink when taking damage, akin to Yoshi's egg guard.
-Dodge: A simple side-step. The knight takes a beat moment to quickly look forward after the invincibility frames (when dodging, the knight agitatedly faces either in front of or away from the screen) and steps back into standing stance.
-Side Dodge: A short distance backward Dash, the knight facing the opposite direction of the direction command given.
-Taunts: The knight can point forward in this position, can lay his/her fists on his/her hips and let out a cheerful laugh or can check his inventory (busy idling stance) then alertingly peek back forward and stand back into stance.

    Grounded Attacks
    A: Basic sword slash.
    AA: Two sword slashes.
AAA: Three-hit Sword combo. Last hit causes knockback.
Forward Tilt: Wide sword swing. Uses the animation for a heavy sword's second hit in a basic combo.
Up Tilt: Quick Handgun shots are fired above the knight.
Down Tilt: A quick sword stab at an opponent's feet or leg.
Forward Smash: Spinning sword attack, uses the charge attack for the line of Calibur swords.
Up Smash: Upward handgun charge shot.
Down Smash: A bomb is planted on the ground. Length of the Down+Smash being charged up determines the radius, knockback and overall power of the bomb.
Dash: A lunging vertical cut into the ground.

    Aerial Attacks
Neutral Air: Upward straight kick. You gotta have aerial straight kicks. Seriously.
Forward Air: Forward, vertical sword slash.
Back Air: Backward, horizontal sword slash.
Up Air: Forcefully raises the shield upward.
Down Air: Slams the shield downward. Has a sweetspot for a meteor smash.

    Throws
Grab: Reaches for an opponent with both hands.
Pummel: Slugs a punch into the opponent's face. The good ol', true and tried fisticuff.
Forward Throw: Indiscriminately lifts the opponent over the knight's head and tosses it forward. Same animation as if a Vial was thrown.
Back Throw: Twirls and shoves the opponent in the reverse direction with a shield bash into their back.
Up Throw: Hurls the opponent skyward and swiftly sprays 'em with handgun shots.
Down Throw: Slugs the opponent overhead using the shield with the intent of knocking him/her/it into the ground.

    SPECIAL ATTACKS

    Neutral B: Handgun

Default: The Blaster/Proto Gun is drawn out to fire projectiles in front of the knight. Tapping B fires up to three bullets, while pressing and holding it down will fire a charge shot.

Custom: A Magnus/Punch Gun is drawn out to fire a fast, hard-hitting single bullet. Tapping B fires a single ammunition, ending with the knight reloading for each clip. When charged up fully, a larger, speeding bullet is fired and the knight is knocked back on his/her rear. The shots has powerful shield-breaking potential.

Custom: Will update when OOO releases a 0* Autogun.

    Up+B: Battle Sprite

Default: Drakon is summoned shortly to launch a Fire Bolt. If used midair, all variations of this action commands hangs the knight in the air for a split second to call and assign the Battle Sprite a command, but this does not reset his/her fall speed.

Custom: Seraphinx is summoned shortly to protect the knight with an Angelic Shield. It can deflect projectiles but does not negate damage or knockback. The move does no damage either.

Custom: Maskeraith is summoned shortly to cloak the knight for a short time (approximately 3 seconds). Cloak provides nigh-invisibility, but lack of action can make it difficult for the player to read his exact location until the effect dissipates.

    Side+B: Shield Bash/Dash

Default: Shield Bash is used as it appears and functions in the original game, charge forward into enemies that stand in its range for moderate damage and knockback. In the air, the move launches the knight in the air by pushing his/her shield up.

Custom: Shield Bash is used to charge into an opponent, but instead of plowing through the move will slam and push him/her/it upward on contact. This stops the Shield Bash in its track. In the air, the move charges straightforward. Hitting an opponent in midair will slam him/her/it down for a meteor smash.

Custom: Dash is used to sprint forward in one jump for increased maneuver. However, unwary repeat of dashes will reduce distance coverage and may cause the knight to trip. In the air, the knight dashes forward diagonally as an additional jump. This move command is the fastest of the three options, but does no damage whatsoever and does not provide the invincibility frames of the original game's action command.

    Down+B: Bomb

Default: A random Bomb is drawn from the knight's pockets. Can be thrown at opponents, but has a set timer before exploding. Effects vary slightly but otherwise function similarly: cover a wider radius and deal knockback. The knight can be damaged by the bombs as well. Up to two Bombs can be drawn from the same knight and appear on the stage at once.

-Blast Bomb) Blasts opponents with a powerful detonation. Has a slightly higher knockback than the rest.
      -Firecracker) Blasts opponents in flames.
-Cold Snap) Can flash freeze opponents.
-Static Flash) Blasts opponents with a sharp zap.

Custom: A random Haze Bomb is drawn from the knight's pockets. Explodes on contact to spray the area with a mist for a brief moment (approximately 4-5 seconds) and cannot be grabbed. They have lesser chances of inflicting status, but is not determined by damage percentage. Up to two Haze Bombs from the same knight can appear at once.

-Fiery Vaporizer) Can damage opponents over time inside the mist with flames, but has no knockback value.
-Freezing Vaporizer) Can damage opponents over time inside the mist with cold, but has no knockback value. Can also flash freeze in place.
-Static Capacitor) Can periodically jolt opponents caught in the mist, interrupting movements.
-Toxic Vaporizer) Can damage opponents over time inside the mist with toxins, but has no knockback value.
-Haze Bomb) Harmless. Can randomly daze opponents standing in the mist. Can also daze an opponent on the spot.

Custom: A random Vial is drawn from the knight's pockets. Can be thrown to inflict small damage but also a variety of status, however it can be grabbed and thrown back. The effects vary depending on the status and the opponent's percentage. Up to two Vials can be drawn from the same knight and appear at once.

-Fire) Damages the target with a burst of flame upon intact.
-Shock) Jolts the target with electricity.
-Freeze) Gives the target a vicious chill. Can actually freeze the target at higher percentages.
-Poison) The toxins will linger to cause small damage over time if inflicted.
-Stun) Flinches the target with a flashing burst. Target may be dazed at high percentages.

    FINAL SMASH: Energy Blast
The knight gathers Energy via the energy crest on his/her hand until the general vicinity is surging with power, then activates a full power Energy Blast to knock back everything around him/her. The knockback power has tremendous KO potential at mid percentages. Personal preferences for the pose used to activate the Energy Blast would be akin to Zero using his room-clearing specials such as Rakuhouha or the Mega Crash in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, but those suggestions are still strictly debatable.

    INTROS AND OUTROS

    Battle Intro
Spiral Knight descends upon the stage via an elevator. Where the elevator comes down from and wheter or not it did cost 10 Energy for the knight to use are unknown.

this probably wont be helpful
but I think the weps used should only be the ones given to you free
for the colors sure use the starter armor
the weps I can think of would be all /calibur/blaster/blast bomb 5*s
an acheron (you get a free nightblade right?) a blitz (free strike needle recipe) u get a brandish so that attack would be a random 5* elemental one
thats all I can remember for weps u sort of get for free, any others I forgot u can just tell me

As long as The character Is NOT another reskin of him.(If SK gets In that game I would hope that It wouldn't be ANOTHER reskin.) Wait... I HAVE AN IDEA! Draw CROSSOVER PICS if you can draw(Just make sure It Is appropriate). So when people look up crossover stuff(Or maybe It will come out of nowhere,) They will see the drawings and maybe check out the game. It Is worth a try.

Special or smash attacks

I like many of the ideas here. But I would like it if Divine Avenger also gets a place as a special attack or a smash attack. Maybe it could work for a standard or side special since just pressing the button will have the knight slash with the sword, but charging the attack to max will allow the knight to use the same charge attack DA has in the Spiral Knights game itself.

As for the up special and the dash attack, I think Leviathan Blade or Cold Iron Vanquisher is good for the up special, and it makes sense to use the Final Flourish as the dash attack. And a side smash could be a Warmaster Hammer or a charged gun shot. While a bomb for the down smash seems like a good idea as well. I think the sprite abilities are better used as side or down special.

There are so many ideas to choose from for everyone, but I think it's gonna take the right combo to actually make a good one. I just hope we can get a good one soon enough.

Nice concept.

It's good, but I can't see it being added. Well, first of all Spiral Knight just wouldn't make sense, and it's not popular enough. If Spiral Knights were something big with nintendo, we would be seeing Hyrule Costumes, Mario Costumes, and etc.

as I said I think its reasonable for the mission reward weapons only

but the final smash could have a random boss weapon wipe everyone off the screen
