If the game were to have this implemented, it would have to be toggled, but the first person camera would have to move in front of the characters eyes and move with them. Now the sitting, height modifiers, and looking up and down might have some issues, cause the devs would be at hells gate with the amount of programming that would need to be implemented. First person should be implemented for the fact, who wants to see the environment of the clockworks from a real life-like point of view? Seriously people, you forget about that. When I have my game on high quality I see the background in amazing detail. Now I'd like to see the ground you walk on with that much detail, I'm sure it has it, but I don't notice it like I do the background. The firstperson would let me see the environment height and what floats, or a bump. I think we all must agree, the boss fights would suck with the 2D effects floating around them, but come on, fighting the Wolvers and Lumbers would be pretty cool.

Please reply to this in a positive way. I want to stay in this fight! First person would burn my computer with the graphics, but I don't care, I want to take that jog through the lichenous lair and see the details.

You shouldn't post your mail on the forums, you risk getting tons of mails from beautiful women who want to meet you.

Recommenting on my post about the camera view.

The camera may actually not be like FPS games, where it disappears, it could be on the screen still, confusing as it would be. But your view point always follows the mouse. Or maybe this is just a random spout of info! You decide.

You can't honestly call this a discussion and say "no bad rep responses." That's not how a discussion works. If we disagree, it will be a "bad response" to you. This is more akin to "I like this idea, anyone who disagrees shouldn't post."

With that out of the way, my vote is no. Even if it's a feature to toggle, it would not work very well. Someone in a previous thread in Suggeestions, which you so kindly decided to necro, made the point of some things are 2D and make use of the angle to appear 3D. Unless you want them to remake everything to have an actual 3D model, this would just break things in the name of "looking cool."

The thing about Spiral Knights is that it was designed to be viewed at a certain angle, and viewing it at anything but that angle would look really strange. Like, see through walls into the heart of the universe strange. If this came to fruition, and it could- don't get me wrong, there would have to be major changes to many of the models in game and it would probably be a colossal waste of time.

For actual 100% gameplay this would be a terrible idea, yes, but... Well, what about if it were in certain special instances like cinema scenes (think Arkus), or even specific areas of future levels? Where there may not be enemies, but it would add to the atmosphere. Going through a tunnel as an example, it would zoom in to first person while inside, then pan out to normal view as you get closer to the end. This way it doesn't mess with existing things, but adds another slight bit of depth to future content.

FPS sword game?
Here
http://store.steampowered.com/app/219640/

______________
Anyway I prefer to know where enemies are and getting bit in the back by a wolver is not an appealing thought to me.

___________

SK wouldn't work as an FPS sword game since the number of enemies and the small areas would make this a hard game to play. You could cite DOOM as an example of an FPS in tight spaces but you have to remember that a large number of monsters in DOOM don't deal as much damage as the monsters in SK.

Imp fireball does about 10 HP while a Wolver bite takes about 33% of your HP plus could deal a status either setting you up for more damage lowering your defenses or applying a DPS.

For SK to work then monster numbers would have to drop, the monster damage would have to drop, or the maps would have to increased in size.

Dude, what?

Lolololol nope.

To begin with, it's impossible. Try playing an FPS game, ANY FPS game where a single hit wipes 30-40% of your health. Now do that, but have your view be blinded by explosions bigger than your character. Now add Latency issues onto your computer. Now add around 6 gremlins, enemies who move fast, are immune to back attacks, and have a tendency to heal. Now add Touhou bullet streams.

How'd you do?

FPS Spiral Knights? Er...

Much has already been stated by Keepscaite and Holy-Knightmare. Not to mention the fact that you ALWAYS have to be aware of your surroundings. UFSC, with wheels coming at your sides, slags in front of you, fire under you, and falling pieces from the not-so-visable roof? No go. Closest thing that would work is something such as the angle you get right when you enter Vana's room.
Not to mention, even at the current view of it being not directly above you is a problem that has even been stated on TV Tropes, giving the lower side of the camera a disadvantage over the upper side.
