Beasts and Devils dodge bullets, making those two families longer to kill, but it sure is great at reaching those switches!
I'm not hating on the piercing guns, considering why there were never any piercing guns that you can strafe with. I like it, but is there really any use compared to the DBB, DTB, or FF?
Piercing Guns Are Sort of Worthless
Like Wolvers and Devilites are only monsters that are weak to piercing. You are forgeting chromalisks, greavers, trojans, gorgos, an actual vanaduke, dust bunnies and snarbolax. Piercing damage is only that have got TWO bosses with weakness.
Wolvers teleport behind you, just put a Callahan charge in their face, just wait for a devilite to miss and then flinchlock them with a Callahan regular attack.
The new Antigua and Needle gun can easily handle Trojans gorgos bunnies etc.
The pierce blaster is just good all around.
And chromas just die to everything....
raptor staggers devilites on hit. so if you keep shooting one, it will never attack. it will still dodge, but it's still not attacking.
wolvers aren't a problem. seriously, they aren't.
that being said, raptor isn't a crowd weapon. if you must deal with crowds, take you your DBB, it's much faster. but to single out enemies, the raptor is great.
it also kills fiends like nothing else, thanks for the buff OOO.
I haven't thought about that... thanks for the info. I'll put this in graveyard.
All bullets which inflict piercing damage are fast enough to hit Devilites before they dodge or even knock them down. Wolvers are trickier but you can still use guns against them if you have the know-how. Those two enemy types aside, there are also Chromas, Silkwings, Gorgos, Trojans, Dust Bunnies, and Greavers. Most of these can be fought quite effectively with guns, especially the first four.
Dust Bunnies and Greavers are most easily fought with bombs and swords, respectively, but that doesn't make guns at all worthless against them. Dust Bunnies can get quite painful when in melee range and using a gun makes it a lot safer, although slower. You can of course use something like a Supernova or at least Riftlocker and you'll have some form of splash damage, though. Greavers aren't at all dangerous if you just understand that it takes them about 3-4 seconds to attack you and *major spoilers ahead*: every single gun in the game can fire faster than that.
