This proposition is similar to the idea in Node 106056. I consider this a follow-up to that well-supported idea. The discussion in Node 107219 reminded me of this project and got me thinking about how it could be improved, expanded, etc.
The style of an infobox is to have at-a-glance, useful information. I feel like set information gets "lost" in pages sometimes due to the typically small space it takes up. Its location is also inconsistently placed on a few pages. I feel like it would go well in the box, because again, it's small, fast information and pretty much plug-n-chug stuff. We also need to differentiate between "set" and "collection" - sets, IMO, should be limited to gear that is clearly of the same defense/offense types and for sure with a similar name. I would consider the tri-guard items to be in a "set" with tri-guard helm+armor, and those other weapons in the pack (like chilling duelist) to simply be in a "collection." Same with ignition stuff, that's a collection...what about the other breaker items regarding that shield? Up for discussion of course. Though I think someone fixed that? Gotta look again. yep. Oh that was me fixing the triguard pages...lol. When did I do that? No wait...no...didn't fix anything related...in history... OH NO WAIT. IT IS ON THE WEAPON PAGES. Anyway...
I have tried putting more info stuff in infoboxes with several costume items already, and will revert those if people don't like 'em. I've put the acquisition section in these costume infoboxes as well as changed the title, but I'll probably undo that acquisition bit because it would be impossible to keep consistent with the rest of the wiki (items which have recipes cannot have their acquisition section in the infobox, unless we divide it up, and simply having acquisition at the top of pages is simpler and standardized in this wiki as well as other gaming wikis). A few show/hide things have to go, too, imo. So...
Thoughts? In an effort to stay on track cause I ramble, focus on:
-Set information in infoboxes for all types of items that use infoboxes
-Changing infobox title to be simple, like "costume info" "armor info" etc. To avoid repeated titles, as mentioned somewhere in the "item card" project thread, and those line breaks. Yeeesh. Alterative is to shrink the font instead of having it bigger, since it seems to be a wiki standard to have that infobox to the right with an image and the article's name above it like that.
The examples that you cite are for cosmetic items, so I don't know much about them. But presumably this would apply to non-cosmetic stuff like Vog Cub Coat and Vog Cub Cap, right?
It sounds like a fine idea. In fact, a lot more key information could be in infoboxes.
Here's a detail to consider. Some of the sets are dubious inventions of over-eager players. For example, a player might make a "fire set" with certain fire-resisting armors and fire-inflicting weapons. But it's not an official set in any way, and probably should not be on the wiki, although I don't care much. Will your template allow such sets, or prevent them, or what?
