i ran sewer stash on elite for about 50 times and i didn't receive a single orb. -_-
OOO increase orb drop rates
Don't forget to have fun.
Also don't forget to just give up on finding orbs at some point, and just buy them with crowns/energy.
you can play This game for two months on elite mostly dephts 18 and above Untill end and only get 5 - 10 radiant fire crystals kinda sad when needed like 120 to heat 5 star weapon to 9- 10
@Skepticraven
I speedran the first level of sewer stash for 50 times, opening only the boxes and not fighting the monsters.
@Bopp
I usually just buy them with CR/CE but I read that elite orbs were a bit more common on sewer stash and so I gave it a shot.
@Lokits
That's true. :(
I guess my luck really, really, really, really sucks. I think I've gotten less than 10 orbs in the 2 years I've played SK.
How come eternals are easier to find that Elites?
Found about 103 of em in my time on Spiral Knights, but only like 12 Elite.
"Because 50 runs of any mission is statistically "very-unlikely" to give 0 orbs."
Very unlikely, but not impossible :P
@Knightmare-Ish: Don't worry, there will be times when you won't find anything, and times when you feel like some kind of Rarity god. Just to share, yesterday I found 4 SoL (2 in the same box) in 3 runs. That's how this works.
Why did this show up in suggestions...?
I know the title says what it says but it's not really suggesting anything worthwhile...
Orb drop rates are fine as is... Because you shouldn't be relying on the orb drops for all your weapons. You should be exchanging crowns for energy to then buy the orbs with energy.
Doing some random maths, according to Lancer Knightz data, the chance of not getting an elite orb after 50 runs is... ~ 0.000000004% or 4 x 10^(-11)
To put that in perspective, the chance of winning the Powerball Lottery is ~0.0000005% or 5 x 10^(-9)
So you can either complain to OOO about your luck, or you can win $40 million. That'll buy you about 18 billion energy.
Then what's the point of having an orb drop rate at all?
^ Because orb drops are like discount coupons. They make crafting a bit cheaper, but they're not going to give you free burgers all day every day.
I would like to point out that this wasn't a whole run that Knightmare-Ish did. He only ran 1 level 50 times on the hardest difficulty, w/o killing any enemies. Although enemies don't seem to drop rarities anyway, I ran the entire thing once and got one orb. Once. Never got another again. But my point is that the chance that was calculated was for one level. Not for a full run.
Right. The first level is not the same thing as the whole mission. That said, there are some treasure boxes on the first level.
The Lancer Knightz data are valuable because they are carefully collected according to a clear procedure, so you know what they're measuring. Unfortunately, this thread is about something different. So if you really care about the answer, then carefully collect some data about it.
Ideally you would record exactly how many runs, exactly how many treasure boxes found, exactly how many orbs found. If a calculation like Traevelliath's still found an extremely low probability, then that would be evidence of something: speed-running alters your chances, or the boxes on the first level have different chances, or something.
I've recorded the drops of 50 "1st level" runs (Sewer Stash). Number of green boxes, red boxes, orb, sparks and SoLs. Also Glowing and Warm crystal just because. Yes, I was bored.
Big numbers are:
- Green boxes: 528
- Glowing Fire Crystals: 312
- Warm Fire Crystals: 27
- Red boxes: 18
- Primal sparks: 7
- Grim sparks: 6
- Sparks of Life: 3
- Advanced Orbs: 2
- Elite Orbs: 1
Have fun!
As a note: the first depth of sewer stash is a lichenous lair depth. My arcade data suggests a similar number of average boxes as Wavara's data. The orb rates are a bit high, but that's because I have close to 20x the number of datapoints. My expected orbs for that quantity of runs is closer to 2 (instead of 3).
In my experience, it is always better to do the complete level instead of speed run. For advance/elite orbs, do complete T2 arcade runs. Even if you don't get a single orb after a run, you will get at least 8k crowns. That translates to about 100 energy = 2 advance orbs = 3/4 elite orb.
You may think restarting a profitable level is faster, but the extra loading time actually adds up to a good chunk of time if you do it over and over again.
Instead of running past all enemies, kill mobs because the crown payout is worth your time. Just don't go around hunting down strays that keeps running away.
If you can't find any orbs in the Clockworks, you might aswell spend all those tokens in the Auction house. Some people are selling some orbs.
Did you forget to open the boxes?
Because 50 runs of any mission is statistically "very-unlikely" to give 0 orbs.
