Upgrade Honor Weapons/Gear with a new event

Lets face it... a good bit of us have a low star Honor Blade at the bottom of our backpack, we don't ever use it but we can't bring ourselves to throw it away either (nostalgia).
Why not let players be able to upgrade these items?
Every November 14th (The day of the Homecoming Celebration) have an event in which the knights can earn Honor Versions of the Cobalt armor and it's line. The Material for this armor would only be obtainable during this event and the material could also be used to upgrade the Honor Shield and Swords.
This would let the newer players be able to obtain some cool new Blue and Gold armor and would encourage the older players to wear/use/and upgrade their old gear.
Along with this even there could also be Boxes released filled with Honor styled Accessories and Costumes (these costumes would not be as ornate as the event armor).

The event wouldn't hand out Honor blades and Shields to players but would allow those who have them already to upgrade them to a useable level. Even if you add stun it wouldn't help those who have 2,3, and 4 star honor gear enough to justify equipping it.
Those who don't have them would only be able to get a reskinned Cobalt set which can be upgraded with the same event materials to an Azure reskin.

Yea and the point of giving out 2/3/4* weapons was to make a sort of snapshot of where everyone was at that time. I mean you can currently just craft a leviathan blade if you really want to. It's cheap and easy.

Well you can't upgrade the Battle Stands and if you really want to know what items they started as then just include a little tag on the description that states what the initial item was.

Then just hand out an Honor aura or something exclusive to those who got the 5 star items when the event came out first. You'd still have something a lot of players don't have and the rest would be able to have a viable Honor Blade and those who weren't part of the original homecoming event would still be able to get some nice reskins.

But then you'd have what you wanted and wouldn't care for my new aura as much. It's not about what I get, but about having something that you want and can't have. It always has been.

That's why I designed all the items in this event to be reskins and not totally new items that are box only.

I really like the 3* sword and shield, but because I'm a stupid vanguard I have the big bulky ones all the time...

Your probably the only one. Your a perfect example of some players who only want the sword for cosmetic value. I personally want it for showing of and for combat value, like heading to tier 1 and owning everything while looking cool. But yeah, maybe some players like you want a downgrade.

I love the downgrade
I like the 4* sword, but would rather have the 5* shield.
However, I do agree with Fehzor - these items are purely cosmetic and give a snapshot into the past. We shouldn't be upgrading or handing out the same items that view a snapshot. It's an item in our arsenal that acts like a scrapbook.
However, what would be a neat idea would be to hand out an honor blaster and honor bomb. Have a new homecoming ("reunion", if you want), and give out these new items with your current rank level. Preferably do this after all the new missions are added, and if you're at the max rank by that level your items have a UV on them (and if you reach that final rank during the event, you'd get 2 1-UV tickets).

If you are so worried about it losing that "snapshot" quality then just have a little thing in the description of the items saying " ________ (item) was obtained by the _______ (rank) __________(player name) from Spiral HQ during the Homecoming celebration"
This way you can still have the 5 star items and people would still know you were a low ranking knight when you got the base item.
I wouldn't mind more Honor weapons but I would prefer if they were added one by one each time the event rolled around.

I agree. If it was just a cosmetic snapshot, there would be no point in given it any kind of combat usability. So sense they did give it that function, why not also give us the ability to upgrade it? And like holy-nightmare said, we can always keep some kind of record that is written in the blades description when someone is inspecting the player or when we look at our own knight.

It's not the record necessarily, it's a look into the past. Three Rings pretty much gave us a "thank you for sticking with us!" to those who were around at the time.
These weapons are not meant to replace what they reskin, they are meant to be a thank-you for playing. We still have the leviathan blade for those who want that weapon, and an aegis to those who want that shield, but the bottom line is these are a cosmetic reskin, like the node slime crushers and spiral soaker.
I would rather the event not give you upgrades to the current weapons we have, but if you want something really similar, why not make a new honor sword that is gold + prismatic that is a reskin of the celestial sabre (because then we'd have a "free" alternative), and a shield that is the same colorscheme but is a reskin of... Well, a non-defender line. Maybe even a new thing or a reskin of something that's a none-free shield (celestial shield potentially). This would make the honor items remain a snapshot in time and still make an event available where the gear you get is not exactly winning-gear, but it's stuff to "kill enemies with while looking cool".

Cosmetic versions of items will always be more valuable, regardless of games. What I'm asking doesn't get rid of the "snapshot in time" if anything this event will make this "Snapshot" more evident.

I certainly wouldn't mind more Honor gear but I still think that players who have held on to their Honor gear for so long should be rewarded. Back when the Homecoming Event came around most of the people in my guild just Vendored/Sold the Gear as soon as they found out it was Calibur/Defender Reskins.
I would like the Celestial reskin (even though it is unlikely OOO will release a F2P acquirable version of it, based on their actions regarding the Mixmaster; or lack thereof; in the recent Caketastrophe) but there would need to be something about how it is crafted to give the original event attendees an advantage or head start on crafting. Maybe hand out the materials needed to craft it to those with Honor Gear in their inventory ;if you don't have any honor gear (in your inventory) you don't get a head start.

Eh.
The way I see it is that the honor gear was a thing that happened back then. As one of our own developers stated about legacy achievements "It's like the 1987 superbowl", you can't change its outcome now. It happened, it's over.
The biggest concern in this thread seems to be that the gear looks cool, so we should allow it to become 5* since we've played more since then. A good solution would be to make similar gear that looks cool and is upgradable(and a prismatic blade would be amazing!).
We don't need to make players who have those items have a head-start. Veterans have a head-start because of how much they've played the game, not in how long ago they were last active.
Bottom line, as a veteran player, I think newer players should have the same start of this event as older players do. Honor items are not meant to be anything other than ceremonial (you can read this in their description), however since there is no such thing as a weapon or shield costume, it is a reskin.

i vote yay
I for one do want to upgrade my honor equips. I like the look of it and even if its as strong as the levithian, for me it doesn't have the same feel to it.
As for the shield i like the 5* one and i can see myself using it more than the aegis. Even if the chances are, really really really really (somebody lend me their hands) low, i'd still appreciate if they end up making this a thing. here's hoping \(=3=)/

i I ran out of energy and i must have 4* eq.i suggest for example 4* sword you get at this event at rank 6-2 because player must have 4* eq. And make this event at may 2015 or june 2015

The honour stuff is kind of like groundbreaker but for existing players a few years ago. I'd say hands off the honourblades etc. but that giving every single knight an ornate blast bomb would be hilarious. That way, we can have a new unobtainable landmark like thing for players to not get in the future.
The other change that I'd like to see would be stun added on the charges of the honor blade/scissor blades. That way, these things can let fans of levi like me have a shot at the wallet busting stun charge. I'd even re-install the game to stun stuff.
