@Solotron
Please don't host copies of SpiralSpy elsewhere (this is clearly stated on the download page and even applies in case the program is defunct or no longer available).
Kindly remove those links/files yourself. I would rather not have to file a DMCA claim.
@Spiral-Spy
Funny you should say that, because you have failed to adhere to OOO's licensing for using their libraries. [Section 6 of the lesser GNU license on "Work that uses the library".]
So we're going to start throwing the book at eachother now?
Spiral-Spy's upset because he doesn't want hacked/virus-filled copies of Spiral Spy being a reason for him to get a bad rep. It's a bit pedantic and overprotective, but he has every right to express this precaution, just as you have every right to be protected against false claims that you're a scammer ingame, even though Three Rings technically owns all the items ingame, including your account, so it's not like you're losing anything of your own by getting a bad reputation or even being falsely banned.
@Hexzyle
The issue is that before Spiral-Spy's revamp of their website, it did follow the license terms. After the changes, it did not. (These changes also removed all the older versions from being available on their own site as well.)
Also, wayback machine has V1.1 available.
Aside from your squabbling, I still need help with this.
Here's the license for Vilya. It's the same as the license for Nenya and Narya, but not Clyde. I'm not gonna make an awful lot of assumptions because I'm quite tired but I get the impression that the problem is that Spiral-Spy has failed to supply the GNU lesser general public license with Spiral Spy. Maybe Skepticraven could be a bit more specific?
Bingo. I even pointed to the correct section in this post.
I just find it hypocritical that someone expressing interest for others to follow terms and conditions ignores the terms and conditions for other stuff they've used.
@Ragga-Prince
Gotta wait for SpiralSpy for that.
Just as a heads up:
I spent some time today trying to figure out what's wrong with SpiralSpy. Then I spent some more time on a wild goose chase over licensing issues (sorry, legal stuff comes first).
I don't find myself to be in violation of the LGPL. The download page clearly states that SpiralSpy is build upon OOO code and provides a link to where the source repositories can be found (including license files and build instructions). I am confident in having provided all the nescessary information in a sufficient way that will allow any interested party to obtain all of the needed parts.
However, should the need arise to debate this matter further for the sake of splitting hairs over details in the phrasing, then I can, of course, divert more developer time from working on a new release of SpiralSpy. I am sure, everyone will understand and happily wait. Especially if this has to be done in the format of a f^H^H^H^H^H^Hine guessing game where we get one clue per day!
Just include the LGPL license along with the download of Spiral Spy and put up downloads for the previous versions in case somsone needs them, such as in this case and you're good to go as far as I know.
I have some (but not a ton of) experience interacting with the free-software/open-source community. My impression is: Yes, they would definitely prefer you spend your time coming into legal compliance before adding features.

Yep. It's not like the majority of people actually ever use Spiral Spy for any of its "features" other than the ability to open model files lol.
It's Ok, the problem is that Spiralspy v1.5 is unable to load in the Materials on any item. I have no solution on how to fix that issue, But Spiralspy v1.4 is able to load them just fine.
Edit: Sorry about that ^^"
