Hey i stopped playing about a year ago... i think they had just held the gunner update beta.
I was really underwhelmed by the beta and just stopped playing. its been a year and while the gunner update didnt look too interesting itself it was a sign that maybe OOO hadnt abandoned the game.
but, checking through the news on the home page i dont see much in the way of updates...
has there been any content added to this game or have the devs abandoned it?

i liked the new missions.
the very very simple design worried me. Seems SK is abandonware after all. welp it was fun, but i just played through a years worth of content in less than 2 hours.
There's an American film studio called Pixar that releases one really good animated film per year (or at least they used to). So I can go through a year's worth of Pixar content in less than 2 hours too.
Spiral Knights is not supposed to supply your complete entertainment for the rest of your life. You're supposed to play it, leave it for other things, come back, go away again, etc. No big deal. Just enjoy it for what it is.

I've been reading threads about how the game is dead for four years. If I'd paid any attention, I would have missed out on a lot of fun and some good friendships.
If it's fun for you, then play it. If not, then don't. Bye.
What defines a game as "dead"?
A complete absence of players? Because that's certainly not what Spiral Knights is.
Until I know the names of everyone in the active Spiral Knights community, I refuse to believe that this game is "dead". And If I can't remember/meet everyone, there's little chance of you ever running out of new people to meet either.
An absence of content patches? Welp, better stop playing TF2 then because it's dead, apparently.
Games must supposedly become boring for every person in existence 3 months after their last patch, so no-one ever plays them past that point.
New missions after vanaduke is the main thing. They actually are very cool
Also BK event going on, so start your 10 hour per day farming to hope for a book I guess
