Fight-Beetle

A man by the name of Diaub, was given supernatural powers by an entity seeking his destruction, commands a vicous group of assasains in a dilapidated part of a plague ridden city, hired to kill the queen of isora, becomes full of guilt for endangering the empire by the placement of a corrupt new leader on the throne, and he seeks to undo this and redeem himself. Only then does he realize that everything he has is tumbling down. His second in command plots to kill him, the man who hired him sends soldiers to kill him.....

Essentially, what do you think of this type of character? And is he any good?

Honestly I can say this:

-It feels like a set up for a hard build.
-Needs more work in the aspect of story and backround. (Who is this man really, why should we feel for him, is this the most important event in this characters life; if not why didn't you present that.)
-It comes off as a man who has everything story personally.

That's just a few man, sort them and file them. Still it would be an interesting build, if only I new more.

Well, to be fair, it seems like you're just forming a rough framework, but perhaps you can elaborate on these powers that he's been bestowed with. And remember, there must be some form of repercussion or consequence, limitation or debilitation for having those powers. If not, the character will garner no realism or sympathy from the reader, since he has so little threat to him and he won't feel authentic.

As this is more of a plot summary than an actual character biography, as Dark mentioned, tell us more about the character. We don't know him PERSONALLY, and to be honest, that's what counts the most. It's not what the character goes through, but how they go through it. Whether overthrowing an empire or scraping your knee, it's how the character reacts and draws empathy from the reader do they matter.

Since you haven't really fleshed this out, I highly recommend building a foundation for your character first, as we aren't actually judging a character, but as aforementioned, a plot.

Explain why your character felt guilty doing what he did? Why does he seek to redeem himself? Why does he think the other ruler is corrupt? How does the acquisition of superpowers change your character'd personality? Does it change his life, if so, how? Why does he command this group of assassins and what are his views on it? Does he support it, believe in it, or secretly hate it or have ulterior motives? How does he feel that everything is tumbling down and how does he react to this? Why are people trying to take him down? For merely power, or more personal reasons?

Real sorry for how long this is, but I really do hope it helps. The plot itself sounds really intriguing! :D

Dishonored is a stealth action game released recently, it makes you play as an assassin, after being the empress's bodyguard for years, got framed for her murder, then he became an assassin to exact revenge on the perpetrator. The city you are playing in is also plagued.

And I think in one of the DLC of Dishonored called knife of dunwell, you play as one of the assassins that killed the empress and yes, you have a Star Scream to deal with.

Now let's compare that to Beetle's character description:

Okay my comment wasn't clear enough. When I saw your post I read it over and I rechecked Fight's description. And that surprised me.
P.S. I have Dishonored with GOTY Edition. I suck at it.
