May 9th is Lost Sock Memorial Day. That sad, sad day, when we peer into the laundry basket, count just how many single socks we have and wonder where on Cradle the missing ones have gone. Yes, yes, I know Knights don't actually have feet for socks, but just let's pretend....ok?!

I'm going to do something constructive and arty with a poor lonely sock. Will you too?

What to do!

- Create a sock puppet monster!
- It should resemble any monster from the mazes of the Clockworks (I'm not after made up monsters, this time, but something that already exists in game)
- You may use whatever materials you have to hand (HAND!) to decorate your sock puppet monster, but your base puppet must be made from a sock.
- This is a hand craft challenge - I'm not after drawings this time, but an actual real life puppet.

Prizes:
Prizes will be flexible, depending on the quantity and quality of entries, but you can expect to see

Furniture! (top prize of a Curious Mewkat)
Sparks of Life!
Fireworks!! (Purple, of course!)

Please read the following carefully - this is a slightly more complex competition and it is important that you follow the directions given otherwise I may not be able to judge your entry!

Please post entries into this thread

Please include the following in your post:
- Your Knights name
- Which SK monster your sock puppet is
- Link to a photo of the materials with ID card (your SK name on a piece of paper or card included in the photo)
- Link to an in-progress picture with ID card
- Link to the finished puppet being worn (you don't have to include the ID card)
- You can also post a link to a short video of your monster sock puppet in action - (extra Fireworks will be given to those who do this as a special reward for entertaining me!).

You may wish to show off your project in more detail, and that is fine! Feel free to give me additional links showing your sock evolving into a finished puppet Monster. Keep in mind that I'm after a minimum of three pictures in your entry!

Other rules/information
-Only one entry per player
-Contest will finish 18 May at 11.59pm
-Upload the images to a hosting site such as flickr.com, photobucket.com, imageshack.com.
-Do double check that your link in your entry works!
-You may edit your post up until the deadline.

do we HAVE feet? Do we have arms, for that matter? Do we exist outside an armored carapace? What happens when armor is removed? What happens when it's broken? Is the armor sentient? Does the armor come standard with eyes or are those connected to the Knight inside the armor?

They very well could be hooves due to the whole "horse" theme.
But they could also be toe-lines for, like you said, form-fitting armor.
Even so, many armors have boots of some sort, and you can still put socks on hooves if you so chose.
but if hera's statement implies we have no feet of any kind to place socks on then all of this is nullified

I'm a Valkyrie...with STUMP FEET?!?!

I think Knight feet are more like stumps than hooves. Hooves have the hard thingy on them that allows horses to wear horseshoes. I haven't seen anything like that on a Knight...and to think of it, that would actually look kind of strange.
For all yer other questions...well, if you look up 'Knight' on the wiki there's a few answers, but the article is extremely vague. :/ And I don't think it answers our sock question.

If you ask me, I have a Valkyrie who wears knee-high socks.
But anyway, if they were made SPECIFICALLY for Knight feet, they could actually wear socks. So then they could lose them. And then this contest is perfectly valid in the SK universe. XD

As for tight body armor (like a wetsuit?), I prefer to think that...because either Knights wear wetsuits or REALLY like showing off their skin all the time...I mean come on. Have you SEEN some of that Proto Armor?!? It's crazy. So I prefer the first XD
But those lines do have some proof it's body armor. Unless Knights have lines etched into their skin for some reason. And also- some of the armor gives the Knight colored palms, fingers tips and feet. Just go look at any armor up close and you'll see what I mean. I think it must be that the armor itself comes with the tight body armor AND boots. Or socks. Or whatever footwear they get.

Yeah...

Either some people are still working on theirs or the contest isn't gonna have as many people as the pumpkin-carving one.
I mean, if nobody else enters that means i have a higher chance at furniture :P
But i also wouldn't mind if the contest was set back by like a week. Some people have busy schedules this time of year.

Thank you to all who entered - this was a difficult challenge and I was delighted at the fantastic entries submitted. The videos were AWESOME and I really enjoyed watching them - thank you for sharing with us! I had a very hard time selecting a winner and had to get the considered opinion of other Grey Havens' staff members to decide between the top two. Without further ado:

The winner, who will be getting a Curious Mewcat is:
Envyon for the Love Puppy puppet.

The runner up, who will be getting a Flying Purple Snipe is:

Well done to both of you, you are Puppet Masters and should be very proud of your talented efforts.
