Winners announced here

8th of June is 'Best Friends Day'. While we all have special friends in game, this year I'm going to celebrate our wonderful Battle Sprites. They stick by our sides night and day, follow us without grumbling or complaining and always have our backs!

What to do!
- Write a song parody!
- Pick any existing song and 'modify' the lyrics to celebrate your favourite battle sprite!

The entry thread is here. Please include the following in your post:
- Your Knights name
- Your choice of top prize should you win (see below)
- The original name of the song and a link to the original lyrics
- The new and improved lyrics celebrating your Battle Sprite

The Prizes
The number of prizes given out will depend on participation, and those that win will have the choice of the following (to reflect their love for their Battle Sprites!):
Forever love puppy mask, a love aura, heart eyes, lovely glasses, or specify which monster pocket you want (chroma whelp, love puppy, hoptimer or mewkat).

Participation prizes of Large Fireworks will also be given out (Purple - always purple!)

But WAIT! There is MORE!
Additional purple fireworks will also be awarded to those lovely brave knights who also provide a link to a recording of their entry being sung by themselves! (Clotho adores song parodies, got wind of this event and is demanding to hear y'all singing!)

-Not sure how to go about writing a Song Parody? http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Song-Parody is a good place to start!
-Not sure how to record yourself singing to share with us all? There are a lot of free online recorders out there http://vocaroo.com/i/s1Or9BccGAFf for example!

Writing these sorts of things has been a thing I've done in the past as it is, so actually doing it for something here could be fun!

Plenty of old songs that could work. Already getting some creative juices flowing. :)

OK So I've been thinking and I want Cronus to sing instead your voice is quite lovely but Cronus oh man that would be grand. Or you could both sing all of the songs and we could vote on which one is best and host Spiral Knights Idol. We could make a board of judges consisting of whoever is not-lazy enough to log on, potentially checking their phone for a 5 digit steam ID value that changes every 10 seconds, and then choose whether Hera or Cronus has done a better job singing our submissions.

Oh god it just keeps getting better- thanks to everyone's favorite stalker who I won't name but that at least half of everyone knows we know that Cronus receives whatever we send to the mailing address (at a box not his house lol) but that's in 'Murica. So logically Hera would receive mail from the other side of the globe??? So we could all chip in and get a decent prize and have them compete for like however many dollars it takes, maybe 50-100ish. Just mail it in to the mailing address like "I do not want energy, I want Cronus to receive this money for his personal use because he sang a song." provided that he wins of course.

Then the dev(s) will all be talking and they'll be like "well how does the game earn money now a days?... Well, Hera and Cronus earned all of it by singing whatever Fighting-Polygon wrote." and then we'll have albums. Taking song contest to a new level that's what we're doing.

@Hera - Say, if we were to take the instrumental version of a very popular song and then sing our parodied version along with it, will there be any copyright issues? We could upload our recorded sessions onto Youtube, Soundcloud, or other sources but I'm afraid other people or groups might berate us for using resources that don't belong to us.

Would it be possible for someone else to sing whatever we write? YES! I know many things (despite what Cronus thinks), but I don't know exactly what y'all sound like so I have no way of actually verifying the proud owner of the singing voice accompanying the entry is the same Knight who wrote the song. Feel free to get your friend(s) or any other (willing) person to perform. I can't give additional prizes to the singers though, sorry. Maybe we can do an event in the future that requires participation of more than one player in a single entry....hmm....

copyright issues? Lets stick to just straight singing without a musical background, please!

Please don't worry about providing a perfect recording of your song parody. I'll never seek perfection! These additional challenges are just for fun and I'm not going to be judging your singing ability. Rather, I'll be here listening and applauding how brave and clever y'all are. And shedding a tear or two at the fact that everyone can sing better than me. Srsly...

This may be one of the most fun contests I've seen yet (I've only seen three though...don't judge the two-monther). I used to make a couple of fun ways to spice up RP requests, and I did some parodies once. It was fun and I'm certain this will be too!

So now as I'm trying to think of song things, I have a few ideas... However I'm split if I should make it be able my drakon or my seraphynx. Seraphynx was my first sprite and I'm very fond of it, but my drakon has become my most used sprite outside of events.

Could I write a song with them both involved, or should I stick to a single battle sprite? I have an idea how I could get my little bundle of sprites (4 total) into one song but I don't want to pull a valentines 2014 and immediately disqualify myself due to an improper entry.

Would you guys sing if I bought 100 dollars of energy for it? Just one song each and I'll buy some energy. I don't even require energy. I just want to hear Hera sing, it's been my lifelong dream even though I only met them in Haven like once and they're apparently scared of me which is like spiders and snakes they're way smaller than us and we terrify them because we can just step on them or whatever. Actually it's more of Cronus tbh. I'm betting that Cronus has like a deepish voice. That would be nice. What if we all whale for it and you put it in a prize box? Like you open a prize box and the 1% item is a clip of Hera or Cronus singing their love of Drakon?

I'm afraid there are no bonus prizes for playing instruments to accompany your entry. The bonus challenge is just for fun, and that isn't judged at all - you will simply get a nice little reward for keeping me entertained as I judge your actual entry. I am the last person in the world to judge anyone's singing abilities - I'm even worse at singing than Cronus is. And that is saying something...

We generally post a link to winning entries to share how wonderful and clever our players are! If you would prefer links to actual singing being removed we can certainly look at doing that once the judging is done. I'd recommend that you edit your entry now with a note stating that you would like the link removed after judging so that I can make a note on my spreadsheet while working through them, and then edit it out as requested!

Thank you so much for all your wonderful entries. I've had a fine old time, singing your songs out loud as I judged them. My near neighbours weren't so impressed, but I think that was down to my skills at singing rather than the actual entries! As promised, a participation prize of Large Purple Fireworks will be going out to every entry soon, and a bonus lot of fireworks will be going to the three brave Knights who made me grin in delight while they sung their own songs.
