Will spiral knights survive any longer

It's been time since I've played this game and ever since I started in 2011 this game has always been one of them games that I've never stop playing, and one them games that I never regret to invest money into. But it's becoming one them games where it repeats it's self and just releases prize boxes after prize boxes to help supply the money it needs to keep this game alive. And it hurts me to see this game die slowly by the day nd people getting bored of the game. It needs to be a put into consideration by grey haven that they actually do something about the game and actually think what the players truly want before this game dies and hurts those that really care where this game goes from now on.

It makes me happy going onto this game everyday seeing squires walking around knowing that they're coming to this game and they're going to enjoy the time they have playing into game, but i know when they finally reach end game they will be disappointed in nothing else to do, especially when they only have the crimson dlc, I feel as if they made more payable dlc's they would still bring in a income aswell as more time played on the game.

Just please grey haven do something about the levels and everything about this game than just releasing prize boxes. I don't think I'll survive if this game truly does die out.

Grey Havens has been doing

Grey Havens has been doing things though. Granted, it's a small amount - just a few LD maps and some minor fixes - but it's loads more than SEGA-controlled Three Rings ever did. Have patience, and let the developers do their work, because I guarantee they have plans for the future.

Grey Havens is doing great

When Three Rings still had SK it was nothing but a cash grab with old events and fashion items. Since Grey Havens took over SK we have gotten improved guild features and Slime Casino which gives slime levels lots of replay value to get slime coins. Now they even have a new lockdown map. Personally I think a new dungeon is the way to get a lot of players playing again since dungeons always have great replay value but I am very happy with Grey Havens current progress.

mhmm

About a month ago I compiled a list of things that Grey Havens has openly communicated to the community. Since then we have gotten several more Lockdown maps, a depreciation of problematic browser clients (still in effect - if you play on Kongregate or Armored Games get your knights transferred over!), and the anniversary celebration that was cleverly combined with the slime casino.

So the game is doing its own thing pretty well. It's not "just prize boxes", it's far more than just that. Just so happens that having a nice flow of money into a company lets it keep running and paying its employees.

Its own thing? You mean, the same thing that it has been doing for the past three years? And saying that GH is paying its employee is just straight up dishonest, I thought it was stated that GH are paying out of their own pocket to keep the game afloat, or at least they are doing it as a passion project to keep the game alive, profit be damned.

@OP

I don't think I'll survive if this game truly does die out.

o.0, you do know that there are other dungeon crawler games out there that are like SK and are far more successful? Right?

Well..

Well GH did some updating, but nothing big or important that will give motive for players to spend their time again.
When GH took the game i was all hope but now i just wait without hoping much..
I dont know what is happening for others but i cant find a good game anymore that suits my taste.
Maybe thats why many players keep complaining its not that we cannot move on its that we cant find a good game
Futhermore seeing that SK has potential to become even better,it produces all these raging/complaining threats

If you've never worked anywhere before, maybe I'd be with you Midnight, but a company (even non-profits - amazing am I right?) usually pay their employees to work for them.

Besides, GH could be paying "out of their own pocket" to pay their staff and development team. You know, like most indie companies that retain some semblance of their team. Turns out that their games can line "their own pocket" to pay for their staff, servers, development, etc. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a normal game company to me.

(Nonprofit means the company goal is "not profit". In this case, the company goal is to "keep old Three Rings games alive as long as possible"... They can still make a profit doing this, but it isn't their company's goal or intention.)

If you've never worked anywhere before, maybe I'd be with you Midnight,

I have worked, for 3.5 years as a matter of fact, and I am not giving a single cent of my hard earned money to GH/OOO as I do not see that it as a worthwhile investment since I know nothing will come of it. They have proved to me, through their inaction, that they have learned nothing from how much their isolation from the player base had hurt this game.

Besides, GH could be paying "out of their own pocket" to pay their staff and development team.

That wouldn't be the case if you ARE the employee. It is already stated that GH is just the remnant of OOO, so the only ones who are going to pay for the server cost are themselves. Our money is more on the line of a donation. I highly doubt the money from a <500 player base can keep this game afloat on its own, not even by a long shot. And judging by the fact that SEGA laid off the game, I think it is safe to say that the chance of SK ever regaining mainstream fame (hence profit) is now nil.

I don't know about you, but that sounds like a normal game company to me.

Calling GH a company in of itself is an exaggeration, I mean, after all, what do they earn anyway? Most of the GH staff have other things to do in their life and the money they earned from those ventures goes directly into this. At least this is what they told us when the switch over happened. That is not a company, that is a charity foundation, created clearly out of the non profit motives. And as I have stated before, can you honestly say that SK can still rack in profit, after its player base decimated and slowly worn down over the years?

They can still make a profit doing this, but it isn't their company's goal or intention.

Well, maybe they finally understood the words, "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment." Hey, maybe GH learned a thing or two from my posts. That might just be coincident though. While this realization came three years too late, I still need to applaud GH for finally grasping the reality of their situation. Unlike some company *cough* THQ*cough*... *cough*Konami*cough*...

"our gremlin engineer"

There is (very likely) one employee working on everything SK-wise, and whether Fangel likes it or not, prize boxes do take time and effort to put together, as do lockdown maps, and so no progress is actually being made on the game outside of that. Maybe someday that will change. That being said the players are all with you and happy to support Spiral Knights servers and Puzzle Pirates development, so no, the game won't "die out" aside from the way that it's already completely non-mainstream.

While you're welcome to

While you're welcome to discuss the game and Grey Havens, please take care when claiming something was confirmed by us.

----

And saying that GH is paying its employee is just straight up dishonest...Calling GH a company in of itself is an exaggeration....Most of the GH staff have other things to do in their life and the money they earned from those ventures goes directly into this. At least this is what they told us when the switch over happened.

This is not the case and not something we have ever claimed. We are basically the same as any other indie game company out there - many of whom are classified as an LLC.

While we were formed with the goal of maintaining our games by former Three Rings employees, that doesn't mean we operate any differently from other game companies. We do not have any volunteer help (at this time) and revenue from our games is what pays for staff, servers, etc. This was indicated in our original post here.

Q: Will there be promotional boxes?
A: Yes. Having promotions does not mean we won't be working on new content. It’s one of the things that gives us the ability to work on it. We also have a substantial number of players who enjoy the new items they provide.

Can confirm that players enjoy them, am one such player. Thanks for the heads up Cronus.
