Is there anywhere or anyway i can hear the music outside of the game? really dig the music, especially want to hear the theme played in Moorcroft Manor. Didn't want to wait until the game re-opens.. :)
music available outside of game?
Ah, thanks Shoebox. I was thinking about the mini-boss theme this morning, wanted to listen to it, hadn't gotten around to snooping for the files yet.
The directory also works for Win7, apparently.
And, if you don't know how to play said music, download VLC Media Player.
@Magnus
You can do that, but it's easier if you just download the proper codecs (Xiph Directshow Filters) to play the files, implying you already have WMP on your computer.
VLC is a half a second download, though! Sounds easier to me. U:
Found out how to get it out on the Mac.
1. Go to the Spiral Knights app in Finder, and right click on it. Choose "Show package contents".
2. In the new Finder window that opens, open folders: Contents -> Resources -> Java -> rsrc
3. The music is contained in the file "full-music-bundle.jar" which is a JAR archive, which can be extracted in Archive Utility.
4. I found it easiest to make a folder on my desktop, copy the JAR file to it, right-click on the copy and choose "Open with" -> Archive Utility.
5. The .ogg files are OGG, a music format (so cool that Spiral Knights uses it!) that can be played by VLC, which is conveniently also available for the Mac.
i try to located the file but cant find it?? i look every ware but cant find any folder...
please need help ASAP please! thank you
Hmm, a few tracks are not present, it seems. Such as the jazzy (if I'm recalling it correctly) T3 Deconstruction Zone theme, and the new Arena level theme that had popped up.
ajericho: the only thing in my Resources directory is desktop.icns. What gives? =/

Sometimes you can find the appdata folder by clicking on the properties of your user folder and going to show all hidden folders. That will show the whole thing. Then you can find the music.
there are two folders one name "Code" and the second name "native" but i dont see any music files
It should be in a folder under those, Crazzy, called "rsrc".
Within the rsrc folder, you'll want to seek out the "sound" folder.
Once in the sound folder, check the "music" folder.
All the audio files are in the .ogg file format, so you should download VLC Media Player or something if you want to listen to them.
i search every ware for a music folder but did not fine music folder in the rsrc folder and the only ones i found was media folders and there were no files ending on .ogg or any files with .ogg i look in every single folder.... can you check and let me know if you found it, let me know were it is exactly... i will be sow happy! Thank you
Okay, so, I'm on OSX, and all I've got is a desktop shortcut that's packaged to look like an app. ajericho, where/how did you download a full "client"-type release?
nunix,
When you go to the Play Spiral Knights page, there's a link near the middle bottom that says "If you experience technical difficulties, click here to download the game instead." If you click there, you get the game as a full app and not just a desktop icon (I suspect that's what happened for Crazzywave as well).
Aha! Thank you! That got me what I wanted. EDIT: Hmm, mine is setup a little different from yours, it seems. There's a /sound folder, which has a couple of songs in its /music but definitely missing most of them. Maybe it'll download more as I come across them in-game.
You're welcome, nunix!
Oh wow, there's a few songs in sound/music that aren't in the full-music-bundle.jar. That jar might be downloaded only when the app is run and things get downloaded from the server. Unfortunately the servers are all down now... :(
I'm trying to not post to the forums all the time, but my SK withdrawal is bad right now....
VLC player FTW!!! I have not found anything that VLC player does not run. Also, if you have an older computer (such as my fiance's Laptop) and it is having problems running movies and such on its default players, VLC player is the solution. It runs movies much more smoothly than WMP and it has eneabled us to be able to watch movies on our tv again! (through the S-Video cable on the laptop) B)
Wait what. Why do you need VLC player? Can't Firefox play your Ogg files?
Yeah, but I just like using an actual media player for media ON my computer.
hey providence, is your name a reference to the thing, or the place?
If you installed the client on Mac OS X through your web browser, the music files will be located at:
~/Library/Application Support/spiral/rsrc/sound/music
(The tilde symbol represents your home folder. For example, ~/Library is equivalent to /Users/richard/Library for myself.)
To quickly navigate to this folder, copy the path, press command-shift-G in Finder, paste the path, then press enter.
Thanks to you i found the music thank you very much! :D
For Vista (maybe older versions of windows as well) it's in: C:\Users\*computerusername*\AppData\LocalLow\spiral\rsrc\sound\music
