Has this ever happened before? Before joining the gate it showed a lot of undead levels (first level blight city theme, and the next depths had many undead themes including arenas on each) followed by Vanaduke's stratum. I happily create a game and see a clockworks icon instead of blight city, check the gate map again before going down the elevator and the map had changed to a fiend theme, dark city levels everywhere. Sadly I didnt take a picture since I wasn't expectiing the contents to change. But another player that had created a game on his own was saying wth on the chat about the same thing. I really hope you aren't changing stratum levels because they are too good (full undead tier).
Iron Serpent Gate changed its gate map
Note the differences between here and the gate map shown at the terminal in Haven.
Looks like the gate was changed manually, because triple arena + FSC was way too profitable and fun. Now it's a bunch of fiend BS, business as usual.
(OOO confirmed for dirty underhanded suppression of anything nice in order to preserve CE sales, yadda yadda)
The map on the picture posted is the map I joined, but it got changed as I joined and became what it should be now on your screen, unless it gets changed back to its original (picture) form.
So the gate map shown at the terminal is what the levels are? They did manually change it?
I'm in a run and it started us at Blight Boulevard like my picture shows. Is the Haven terminal gate map wrong? They need to fix their business.
I just finished a Tier 2 run and the gate map viewed in Emberlight showed Depth 19 as an undead level followed by the three fiend levels that culminate in Stygian Seeds. Viewing the map from the Arcade showed the same as the image posted above. I didn't go into the tier to check what the actual levels were though ...
You totally missed what the guy was saying. He said that certain levels in a gate got CHANGED. He's not talking about gate rotation or boss stratum reservations, he's saying that there were levels on certain floors that were completely changed, in one active gate, having nothing to do with any rotation of anything at all.
Also, you make tiny, tiny amounts of money off of minerals. Sure, I make a couple thousand every time I cash them in, but 1) those couple thousand crowns don't get me very far and 2) that's only a couple thousand on top of the dozens upon dozens of thousands I've already made from selling materials and getting crowns from the same levels I got the minerals from. Minerals are not a big deal for income (well, maybe to new players), which is why a lot of T3 endgame players hoard them up, waiting for a good time to use them if ever it shows up.

Yeah it got changed somehow, there was 2 arenas in the 5th floor of tier1 and now they're gone. the floors leading to FSC were changed too apparently, that kind of sucks since I totally hate fiend levels in tier3. :/
I did a D28 Fiend level. Not fun. At all. To make matters worse, it was shock.
But that's a bummer, I liked those 3 arenas.
I got swapped on too. Joined a Tier 2 map which said Spiral Court II and thought i was heading for depth 11, wound up only at depth 9, with all the maps changed. Having wasted 200 crowns and 10 energy, went back to arcade, where it still shows the other map setup.
What does the map show if you have a friend in the other Iron Serpent map levels?
EDIT: Now, starting a map from depth 1, the maps are as shown. What's going on?
Ah, thanks shrinkshootr. I thought he was asking about the rotation. I saw in a later post he was talking about a complete change that happened manually from OOO side.
As for minerals, I wait until I have like 2-300 of each type before I cash them in, and I hope for 4 cr each, otherwise I usually hold onto them. Never cash at 2 each though.
I only use my minerals to manipulate gates I desire to run, so I have quite a Hoard right now, except the green and purple crystals, I think I used them recently...
...I think I'm gonna run this Twilight Zone of a gate later or this weekend and take some screenshots of the map... this better not be disappointing. I'm starting from the first floor...
This isn't some ever-changing gate. It was the first way for a short while, someone from OOO noticed it was too profitable for players, and it was changed once (probably just rerolled) into the current version.
honestly i think that, that is some bs, why not just leave the levels alone as they should have been left alone. it wasn't breaking the rule about only one type per stratum. OOO care to comment? i mean really the gate would have only been active for a couple of days or so, so really it would not have truly effected the bottom line for you guys.
I noticed it still goes back and forth between the "original" and the "changed" version, so maybe it is just a bug, but would like someone to look into it because it is misleading.
On the subject of gates being misleading it could be good to have some distinction for boss stratums, my friends keep mistaking one gate for another because both have the same icon, and i have in the past.
I certainly hope it's a bug and not changed because it was 'too profitable', or else that would seriously undermine the integrity of the company as well as claims of 'player driven CE market'...
I would also like some input from the people behind the scenes on this one. Gates are supposed to be determined by the minerals placed into them, not changed manually after the devs realize some levels are "too profitable" (although I definitely wouldn't put it past them). I didn't see them manually changing any full shock gates when that was happening, they just patched it. What's next, a patch that will prevent multiple arenas from spawning in one stratum?
Giving it another look, it's looking more like a bug and less like meddling. It does indeed shift between the two maps at odd intervals.

If you go back to haven from serpent gate you end up in front of amber phantom. Seems like the two gates got mixed up somehow
weirddd. But, that would mean that the new gate has 3 arenas in T3 for sure? ;o
The next gate after the amber phantom says that it still has 3 days before it finishes, which is what it should have.
I have two theories:
1) There is a race condition between generating the new gate and the switching around of themes via minerals that caused some instances of the game servers to pick up the original themes that you see in haven, while later ones pick up a changed one. In an attempt to fix the problem by regenerating the gate caused the amber phantom gate to come up early.
2) OOO is going to be releasing something new (new monsters? new boss? new levels) and, as with previous cases, messed up.
I noticed another interesting quirk: On the knight info displays "progression" page, it lists just three gates, with the amber phantom not showing up. Yeah, that kind of makes sense because the amber phantom gate is broken, but it does mean that OOO has programmed the game so that a variable number of gates can be active, rather than being hard coded at 4 gates. One day, they may decide to open up 5 gates or something.

this does make no sense for me i wanted to go through snarby but i can't get into this gate, also if this is the case for amber phantom then why can't OOO override it and rewind the rotation so that amber phantom comes up when its supposed to and the one that was removed gets put back
Also, not only does the newest gate (Sapphire Skull) share the same countdown timer as the Ruby Rook gate next to it, but they also have Vanaduke in stratum 6
They are adding at least one new monster, the "howlitzer." I saw it on Facebook. Maybe this is what's causing these strange problems?
Shouldn't this be in the bug section?

Is the gate still bouncing between 2 different set ups? If so maybe the original gate and the one that was supposed to move there are fighting over the spot internally since Amber Phantom went live earlier then it was supposed to? Doesn't make much sense, even to me, and I'm just a lil bit mental, but it might explain why it keeps bouncing.

With only three gates, they might be doing something with Snarbolax, since he's not in any of the terminals right now, or they just didn't want two bosses on the same one? Who knows.

Every 8 days at 8 PM PDT, a gate is cycled into the 4 active gates, and a gate is cycled out for new stratum themes. At the moment, 4 themes are automatically chosen based on the 4 active gates, and it is always 4 gates behind the active gate it represents.
For instance:
Beast will be on one active gate in stratum 2 at all times, like slime will be stratum 4 at all times, construct stratum 4 at all times, and Fire stratum 6 at all times. This is to allow the availability for the bosses available no matter how badly people want to make money off their minerals.
I think people still do not understand you can make moeny off these minerals. It kind of affects others in the group when we want the highest minerals to be picked up and for everyone in the group to be holding one. I am one of them.
You may say, "Noobowns, it is only 1 or 2 crown difference."
Dude, what is going to happen if everyone thinks that way? It will be more of a few thousand crown difference. AT LEAST!
