I'm just wondering how the maps for some of the levels were obtained/created (eg http://tinyurl.com/3g53ssa and http://tinyurl.com/3cz2p5s). I feel like attempting produce all the maps for the stages that don't change in shape, and maybe in the long run try and make the main variations of some maps (I know there are a lot :P)

If they were just done via paint or photoshop, that makes life easy, but if some other weird way was done, I'd like to know.

I left a message for the editor who has done a lot of maps and if they're still around, then maybe they'll come mention how they do it.

The only other instructions that I know of are for Linux. http://wiki.spiralknights.com/User:Mozai

Looks like a lot of work.

From the linux instructions, it looks like what he doing is taking screenshots of the minimap continuously & then manually pasting everything together using GIMP after he completed his run. You can probably do something similar using a screen capture program + photoshop. (ZScreen is able to auto capture AFAIK)

About making maps

Hi, sorry for replying after so many days.
Yes, those maps are made by capturing minimaps and merging them with GIMP.
There are some tips perhaps useful. :)
The size of map usually won't change with game resolution.
Using ALT+PrtScr under windowed-mode is better than just PrtScr or F12 (in-game capture function) since it can capture smaller size.
Only few colors are used in map, so things no belonging to map can be easily erased.
When merging, adjusting transparency of new layer is helpful for alignment.
There are several types of map are not constant. such as clockwork tunnels.

Some constant maps I didn't upload because some parts of map cannot viewed in minimap. Including Jelly Farm I - II and The Low Gardens.
Or because I haven't gone there, usually the maps only appearing in T3.

Hope this can help you. :D

I could see about putting together maps of the Gloaming Wildwoods.
Unfortunately I'm a steam user, so if I link to the images in this thread would someone upload them to the wiki for me?

Hm

I think this might be relevant, the Spiral-Spy guy worked around the map files and got minimaps of most of them.
http://spiral.onyxbits.de/image/tid/12

They need some editing so they don't look so ugly, removing irrelevant information, adding relevant information, etc.

Thats pretty cool, but when

Thats pretty cool, but when you zoom in on them, the images are very messy -its as if there are other layers that exist in the game files. As they are, while useful for having the outline of the stages themselves, they will actually require more work than my current method.

If someone wants to use these, and edit them to look like the current wiki maps, then go right ahead, but Ill just keep chipping away with my method :)

UPDATE

Updated The Core.
Updated all three Ritual Road stages, as well as Stygian Steeds
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Dark_City

Didn't put up Snarby today, as these fiend stages don't appear in the gates often and thus were a priority.

Also, all the maps that were put up initially all have white backgrounds. Once the problem with re-uploading the same image is rectified, I will edit all the old images to have the same backgrounds as mine.

EDIT:

Upload Priority

Jelly Farm I/II
Low Gardens
Snarby
Roarmulus
Vana
Training Hall/Haven/Bazaar
Rescue Camp

Future:
All Shadow Lair stages (keys too expensive atm)
Crash Site? lol maybe not :P
