So here's the thing, there are armour sets(usually, silvermail is kinda unique in this) that provide damage bonuses against specific monster families. However there are 2 families that are missed out, gremlin and construct.
I would like to see armour sets added, or modified, to provide damage bonuses against these two monster families
i can understand construct being left out, constructs appear in almost every strata and are some of the most prolific monster types in the game, but gremlins? wheres the armour with damage bonus against these little blighters

As it is i have an armour style that could be used for gremlins, samurai (the stereotypical lacquered leather style, Dō-maru, see this article)
reasoning, the nightblade/ acheron is fashioned after a katana and is arguably one of the best gremlin killing weapons in-game (medium speed shadow damage sword)

with a different helmet the plate mail armour could be re-skinned for an acceptable approximation, though new models are always welcome

as for construct killing armour, i have no real idea as to what to fashion this after but it would still be nice to have

Some sort of engineer-themed

Some sort of engineer-themed armour set might work well as an anti-Construct loadout; perhaps loosely based on the Groundbreaker set at lower levels - obviously differentiated enough that Preview players won't be annoyed - and gaining more advanced-looking features as the line progressed. I'd love to see techier-looking visors, optics and so on in SK's style, and I know McConville's got a knack for that sort of design.

The problem is, as you quite rightly pointed out, that Constructs are everywhere, and any set that lends a significant advantage against them is potentially unbalancing. That said, the most common Constructs are probably Scuttlebots and Gun Puppies; Scuttlebots are already nuisance enemies more than anything, so a buff versus them isn't going to affect things overmuch, but giving players an advantage against turrets that's independent of their weapon choice could cause trouble.

I love the Dō-maru idea as a

I love the Dō-maru idea as a helmet/armor idea and I'm really surprised that both OOO and I haven't thought of it yet. I can envision the line starting off rather humble and eventually transforming over the * levels to something very ornate and menacing. Put me down as a supporter of that.

wow

gonna cut you short sadly, there is, it doesn't have a damage bonus, but you may get the idea, its called plate, looks samurai esque, and has mainly normal defense, which is what gremlins mainly dish out, but you pay with lowered attack speed (stupid to me, but fair enough)

and lots of weapons get UV of gremlin, so really its there, just not directly noticeable.

@Naruchico

I know that the plate mail is good against gremlins, aside from the attack speed decrease but thats not the point. from your reasoning there should be no attack bonus versus fiend on angelic because it offers good defense against them and there are tons of weapons with fiend damage UVs (personally i've never been able to craft anything but fiend and undead UVs, which sucks)

there is no need to have any armour sets with damage bonuses by your views, but there are, for 2/3 of the monster families and as such id like to see the at least gremlin added as well.

@Effrul:

Gun puppies are less common now thanks to the polyp/howlitzers. Puppies still litter boss areas and special maps like Grim Gallery, but who would want to bring a weapon/armor with bonus against construct to FSC? Or maybe I'm just underestimating player preference... "Hey I can handle undead fine, I'd rather kill the puppies faster..."

Good point. Well, that's a solid +1 for an anti-Construct set from me, then!

other turrets

yeah i just thought about that today as well so definitely for an anti construct armour set as well
i think Effrul is right, some more 'techy' style armour would be great to represent anti construct as well
