Improving the Guild Hall

Right now the guild halls are pretty bloody useless
how about a few things to improve them?

here are a few things I thought.
this here in the left side of the map
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/7910/guildquarters.png
could be like some sort of guild quarters or something, basically a place where we can spawn directly in the guild. rather than the place we logged out
his could give us access to a lot of other things. *the option to always spawn there when logging on should always be able to be turned on/off

I've also made a few mock-ups to help back up a few of these suggestions

Arcade portal
http://img192.imageshack.us/i/arcadeteleportcopy.png/
basically a direct route to the arcade docking floor.

Guild Treasury
http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4641/treasurycopy.png
could be basically a vault, or cool looking chest where any guild members can store money/energy/crystals etc for the guild masters to spend on things toward the guild *Decor/Vendors/etc

Guild Message Board
http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/1981/guildboardcopy.png
A notice board for people to leave messages to other guild members
things like "I need this specific weapon, if anyone knows where I can get one let me know" or "Who spent all the guild money on pies" etc.

I like all these ideas. Re:

I like all these ideas.

Re: guild quarters. It might help Haven not get quite so crowded; people can spawn into their guildhalls and then join people on dungeon runs directly.

Re: arcade entrance. I wished the original entrance went to the arcade, not the town square. Unless they're going to add more stuff to the town square, which they haven't.

Re: treasure. This might be a nice representation of shared guild resources. And being able to buy decor would be quite nice. (I miss a sunny, happy guildhall. Maybe we can invest in some natural lighting.)

Re: message board. This idea I love the most, and it would help the larger guilds.

Nice ideas, and good job on the pictures.

Nice ideas, and good job on the pictures. I wouldn't mind having some more features added to guilds overall, let alone the guildhalls.

As far as guildhalls go, the first thing I'd like to see is some more personalization. Things such as floor/wall textures, logos, and even statues, can make things a lot more visually entertaining. (Maybe some sort of system similar to that of Animal Crossing's housing one?) Though, if you ask me, with the current state of the guildhall it seems like they've already been planning something.

Sweet man

I like them all, but another idea would be the ability to duel others players in your guild. Think about it: you can test new weapons and its a way to pass time. Also, a way to advace guilds: extra floors. Check it out:
F1-main one. holds gates to haven areas, alchemy, and
BF1-Guild info. Holds treasury, message board, duel zone, and "warp gates," which allow players in a guild to group easier
BF2-Leader's chambers. Guild masters/officers can come here to relax and/or think about stuff.

Suggestions

It'd be cool to have a guild-only arena, with a leader-board so people can know which guild has the best warriors and which warriors are best in a guild.

Maybe guilds could spend outrageous amounts of money for once-a-day benefits for its members like a free/random material or +2 health on their next dungeon run.

It it make it more convincing to invest for a guild!

It would make things much understandable why to invest for a guild. Because I think the price is ridiculous to invest in a guild as of now, by just having a guild name under your name and a empty lot. If one of my friends wants to start a guild/clan, he could just create a guild/clan by creating a free website then advertising in the game to other players from there.

This concept idea would really persuade people to spend game money for a guild! ;D Great idea, dude! I like it!

Guild gate

These additions would all be nice. I had another idea also, I think other people might well have thought of this too.
Have a gate in the guild house, purchaseable by the guild leader for some extortionate sum of crowns/energy. Maybe the guild leader chooses the type or even specific areas for the gate. Probably only a few floors. Perhaps different tiered gates unlockable for yet more crowns/energy.

I agree, having these options

I agree, having these options would be nice. Particularly since player housing seems like a big thing, the left passage could go to your own little room. They'd have to add furnishing items to find/craft though, but I'm all for that. Or maybe you can get a pet critter from the Clockwork. I'd get a Kat. >3

I also approve of the idea of guild gates. Too many people complain about the public gates being screwed over by random dumps from people selling all their stuff, so this way you could have a guild only gate that the guild could power up their own way. For sanity's sake, it should take a lot less minerals to get one going (100 people maximum couldn't fill out a couple hundred thousand minerals in a timely fashion), but conversely should probably only remain active for a day or something.

Feynt, I love the idea of a guild pet.

Feynt, I love the idea of a guild pet. Similar to the Skeleton or Kat from Moorcroft Manor, you could have some little monster of your choice roaming freely around your guild hall. Awesome!

Hey, if we're gonna have

Hey, if we're gonna have guilds with customizability, why not take a step toward the RTS and have guild-to-guild battles? It'd add a lot of epicness to the whole guild idea, and just because we're all Knights doesn't mean we can't have a few friendly rivalries. Furthermore, with the communal guild chest, you could expend the funds on defensive structures as well as personalization. I can just imagine a big chunk-o-Clockwork cycling up to a guildhall and slamming into it with a rival guild standing on it as a boarding party sort of event! That'd be amazing. The big thing to focus on in that case would be balancing it so that the big guilds can't establish a monopoly over the smaller ones. For instance, having some sort of agreement between guild leaders before a boarding event can be initiated. After all, we're all in the Spiral Order!

Hmmm......

With everything said, my opinions:
Guild Quarters-like the idea. see Player dorms for more info.
Arcade portal-needed. hate having to go from guildhall to entrance to arcade. this makes it faster
Guild treasury-important. Makes needed stuff easier
Guild message board-Big important thing. Could have guild motto, up coming events, name of guild site, etc.
Guild Arena(my idea)-be fun way for players to see whos good.
Guild Pets-Hmmmm....... See Player Dorms.
Player Dorms-Love this idea. Place to call home (you should start here if you logoff anywhere out of clockworks), and houses any pets you own (limit of 10 probly). Being able to make your own furnitures a bonus (skeleton bed lolz)
Guild Gate-Neat idea. Make it energy free, bout 5 floors, and a good way to learn about certain status effects, enemy types, or items.
Guild vs Guild fights-YES! YES YES YES! bigger version of Guild arena idea but focuses on like 5-10 players per guild
Guild Customization-Yeah. It looks so boring and old..........I even think there should be a mini-fridge
Hate. not hate, your choice

Guild Hall Customization

I would really appreciate an ability to purchase guild hall items or obtain them from defeating foes (with a possibility of random loot) and place said items into the Guild Hall. The mechanism of placing them could be easy copy and paste like picking up statues and placing them on buttons (in some realms). I fully-support this idea.

On a slightly unrelated note, Guild Alliances would be invaluable.

Hey, how about a Hall of

Hey, how about a Hall of Achievement? It could be like a few statistics that could be recorded there and displayed alongside a statue of the guild member that held the record or something. Maybe the categories could be customized by officers. In fact, perhaps in this hall there would be a border around an alcove within which sat the statue, and that border, the statue's material, and the background of the alcove would change depending on the achievement. It could be set up in the part between the guild quarters and the main area, or something.

I'm against PvP in a game

I'm against PvP in a game like this. Obvious dominance of the autogun or cutter aside, the basic premise of the game is "we're stuck here on this backwater world, and there's a ton of energy down there for our ship. Go get it!" Why would we be fighting each other when we're trying to escape together?

The last time PvP was around, it was kept isolated to the special PvP arena. This would just be individual guildhall PvP arenas.

I doubt PvP is going to be added wholesale across game. And though I'm not fond of PvP, as long as it doesn't interrupt how I play, people are welcome to duel with each other. :)

(Edited because I forgot that tryst usually means something else. However, I have known couples who love each other and still like dueling to the death in MMORPGs.)

Guilds should have to BUY

Guilds should have to BUY these things, though. As a guild-wide project. Also, some exclusive guild merchants (that also swap once per day) that can be upgraded (a la Guild Wars or Anarchy Online) would be lovely touches. Guilds right now are just 'list of people you shouldn't be a d*** to". I understand if it's not too high on their priorities, though.

Guild treasury and incentives

Guild treasury and incentives for things to buy for the hall are a must, as well as some sort of message board/ notice system that all members and see and be a part of when they're not online.

Would be cool to also be able to deposit your minerals into a guild bank, and then they can be distributed by an officer or leader with money going to the guild. A small pvp arena or something where chosen members fight and other people can watch would be rad, or even add this for the public as a for funsies fight club.

I dunno, customization and maybe little minigames would be cool to increase the social aspect.

Deathbreak......

You have good points. Buying is an idea, but how would you buy the vault to pool all the cash? you give it all to someone, then he/she does this sick kick of leaving, and now everyones broke (cept the runner but screw him/her).
Since the last post on this, ive been thinking about the stuff:
Guild vault:instead, you deposit but cant take out. Its the guild's basic funds, really.
Messge board: should be allowed to purchase when you reach X members.
Arcade portal:well, this is needed, but also a portal to the market area.
Arena: this is something you have to buy (hear me out before you say WTF). Guilds are one floor with an overlook of a "beautiful" scene. Possibly a second floor should hold the dorms, arena, the merchants (didnt think of that Deathbreak, nice job!), and other stuff while the first floor shows the guild "face." Idk just an idea
Dorms (in total):I still like the idea about dorms, but if you take a look back at WoW (hate that game now), they never had dorms, or even a guildhall! In wizard101, you had dorms/houses, but not guild dorms (since A.there were no guilds......and B. It was a kids game). The pet thing seems strange to me now....were knights. why have pets? we have the crappy (you know what i mean) mechs who go on one floor. Sure the pet thing is a neat idea, it just seems strange. For the customization thing, It may go a bit overboard......think about it: you can make your own weapons/armor/shield which are needed or you could (if this went in effect) make unique furniture that would tend to wast all your precious mats for something not truly beneficial. Also, they need a new vendor who sells furniture (and that makes it so much easier for the race of whatever-they-are to sell us stuff in the market.
Guild Gate: this is what you would call, "the test."Allow me to explain. Make a 5-15 floor clockwork with customizable floors (that must be bought) to test players. Enemies drop only hearts (dont get to lucky) and you have 1, count em, 1 life. Its meant to be used as a grade to see how good players are. floors 1-5 are t1,6-10 are t2, and 11-15 are t3. You have to buy everthing (new floors, enemies spawnable, types of floors, etc.), but it would be a neat idea.
G vs. G : you should know what this is. if you dont, its guild vs. guild. Though the idea seems good, there would be limits. these limits include team sizes (3-10/higher than 10), zones (grassland[straight up flat area], puppy love[rocket puppies litter the field!],etc.), and the "terms" (blades only, guns only, bombs only[that be good], no vials, death match[basic has everyone at 3 lives], etc.). all-in-all, great idea (excluding first sentence and player size [1-5], this also explains stuff for arena.).
ok then.....believe thats it.

Yeah, some decors could be

Yeah, some decors could be like:
- Birds
- Music Boombox
- News Board
- STUFF
- Player Stats Board (This should be in my character profile no matter what, anyway! I want to my combat stats (Killstreaks, Kills/Deaths, revives, etc.) besides how long I played in the game!)

As for the Arena, there should be an option where the 2 combatants get to bet each others stuff! So there has to be a debate who gets what, go to the arena and fight it out!

Snipes and dojo

The house pets idea should be changed to each player being able to have snipes(who also move around the guild cuz it looks old and smelly)
The dojo that Hawwtcofee said was the evolution of my idea....never thugh of that.
I also thought this: in a way, the guildhalls are in fact old, boring apartments. why am i saying this? face the facts:
1-We are on a planet surronded by these thingies(vendors), snipes, and all these monsters. We need the energy source located at the core
2-In a way, haven is the home of the thingies and we "intruded" upon it. thats why it costs to make guilds and the guildhalls look like crap: in a way, there apartments.
I have no idea if this is an ideal statement, but i believe it to be.

When I read "in guild hall

When I read "in guild hall houses with personal message boards" I couldn't help imagining a stack of those enormous gears in the background up close to the platform, with each outside face of the gears' teeth having a typical sci-fi sliding door on it.

After all, the guildhalls seem quite separate from Haven, so it's reasonable they have they own chunk of Clockworks under it, and therefore there would be gears just below the landmass holding the structure up. Just saying..

I made a couple of

I made a couple of suggestions in another thread before I saw this one:

"To make it more appealing, I think there should be a small "training area" which includes the ability to fight your guild mates, or fight dummy mobs that doesn't give loot.

Expanding more on this idea, each guild hall instance will have an NPC, sort of a guild hall quartermaster, that will give you options to enter an arena-like area and spawn X waves of dummy mobs with various options, like element type, difficulty, etc.

You can even use this to eventually have guild versus guild PvP matches with different game modes like CTF, team deathmatch, or whatever. I think it'd be really awesome. I've seen this done in other games like Tales of Pirates, and it worked out really well."

Honestly, the guilds right

Honestly, the guilds right now are incredibly drab and depressing. Why would I want to go someplace to be with friends to hang out and chat, if we're just going to be in a place that makes me want to look for my own off switch?

To add on to the suggestion for an aesthetic update to the actual guild hall, I advise to offer a choice of locales that would alter the scenery of the guildhalls, based upon the individual stages available in the game. For instance, someone might want a guildhall that looks like it's in that furnace place, another may want one in the style of the haunted mansion, or perhaps someone wants it in the style of the city slum place with the midget mobsters..

Perhaps even put the monsters from the stages into the guild hall, even if there can be no interaction. Or, better yet, place little childish mock ups or doll versions of the monsters one would see, just for the fun of it.

I also suggest putting in an ability to choose the music, and also putting in a secretary NPC of sorts.

YES! I would love the option to set up a shop in the guild. We could pay some crazy amount of money to have a certain item available for sale, and then even more to have the price of that item lowered. In the long run, it could mean easier access to otherwise hard-to-acquire items for guild members.

I love the idea of guild pets -- also furniture, books that you can write in, jukeboxes, and anything that'll make the guild seem more hospitable.

As of right now the Guild

As of right now the Guild Hall is completely empty and open to suggestions, which I like as anything is possible right now. That being said, the two first things I would want to have implemented are a Guild Treasury, and furniture items.

The guild I'm in is full of friendly people who are in the upper levels of the game and share with each other a lot, thus having a place to put all their excess items (materials, recipes, etc.) would be a great thing to have. Here's my very rough visual representation of how I'd have it:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/825/guildtreasury.png/

~Since you're in a guild you get the privilege of having your own private bank account which no one else but you has access to. This same bank account would be connected to a Haven bank whenever the devs decide to implement that (i know they will eventually), that way the guild hall could have a bank shortcut.
~The Guild Treasury section would work sort of like a free bin, you throw stuff in and anybodies allowed to take it. Accessibility of the treasury could be toggled by the Guild Master, meaning, they could choose if they want the treasury to act as a free bin or if they want to give access to only certain trusted members of the guild (probably high ranking guild members).

The next thing for implementation would be furniture items. This would be similar to how you can customize your crew hall in puzzle pirates. This would work great as a crown, energy, or mat sink depending on how the furniture items are obtained, as every guild would want to personalize their quarters. Guild hall themes could also be implemented, these would change the color (floor, walls, etc.) and atmosphere (background) of the entire hall and would be another good way for guilds to make themselves unique.

PS: These are all very rough ideas and are completely open to constructive criticism. If you have something that would make these ideas work better than please speak your mind, I'm sure the devs would love to hear it.
