It just kicked me off 10 minutes ago saying please make sure I'm running the Steam client and not logged in somewhere else, problem is how am I supposed to be some where else if my Steam is logging in correctly? Anyone know why or how this could happen?

The patch most likely bugged
The patch most likely bugged the actual authentication process that all Steam users go through each time we log in. Basically blah blah it thinks we are all phony accounts at the moment. Though this is just reiterating obvious points.

i'm glad it's not just me,
i'm glad it's not just me, but my husband was playing from steam too and he was able to get on just fine after the patch. he's not playing now though so i don't know if it would have eventually booted him off or what.

You can always make a non-Steam based account. Sure you won't have your main equips, and your energy will be shared (unless a paying transaction un-links the mist between each character.), but you will still be able to PLAY the game, if that's all you want.

I've also had the authentication problem. I've restarted my computer and consequently, steam, and I still get the same messages. I used my brother's account on steam to see if I got the same problem, using the same computer, and it went through. Thus I don't think it has to do with the update. It's my account and my account only.
The last thing I did was that I had just finished a jelly king run, and the moment I went back up to haven using the elevator, the game crashed on me, and it hasn't let me in since. It has been more than 24 hours.

EDIT: False alarm, for some reason its been moved from my main (and only) character to "Unclaimed". I somehow have only 6997 energy now.

The Steam inventory divides the listed items per Knight, so with CE being an account wide object its disassociated with any particular character.

Anything having to do with Steam seems to take a while to fix, because they probably have to go through the Steam guys and a shop as small as OOO might get overlooked...

@Hmeister: Thats a canned response from Steam support since its not directly affecting most games. Unless they can detail the cause of the problem, I wouldn't take that at face value. But a unique aspect of both SK and PuzzlePirates is they support logging into another system using the Steam client, and I don't know any other games off hand that do that.
@Artreidis : They'll probably have another power surge weekend to let people catch up.... which will promptly be followed by complaints about the power surge weekend.

I think found a cure
I think the problem occurs when your connected to facebook or something like that..
1st try to logoff you facebook or login a different facebook account then try logging in..
If that did not work this is what i ACCIDENTALY DID...
1. close all spiral knights and steam apps
2. go to spiral knights webiste
3. login with steam
4. after logging in, go to my account (spiral knights webiste)
5. connect with facebook (login your facebook first of course or create another facebook account if yours has been used)
6. go to spiral knights home page
7. click play now...
THen i got in.. BUt apparently i linke my steam spiral knights account to another persons facebook.. Good thing we're close

Was playing just fine after the update, ...then suddenly
This morning I played for about half an hour I suppose. Did dark harvest, some other stuff. Then while walking down Caravat Hall (2 I think) it just disconnected me. Haven't been able to get back in since.
It blamed steam tickets and asked me to make sure I wasn't logged in anywhere else.
Eventually after trying lots of times it went back to the ready room.
I figured it would kick me off if I tried any more today, so I logged out.
By the way, this was all after the patch applied. Seems to play fine (up until it stopped logging in). Its probably a server issue.

I know that my whining is in no way productive, but this happened at the worst possible time for me. It's my day off and I was planning to capitalize on that free time to farm as many candy tokens as possible. I even set a timer so that I would start playing before the ME tank was full so that I wouldn't waste any. Kind of like it's being wasted right now...
Technical difficulties like this just really punish f2p gamers who rely on mist, as well as people who are busy and are counting on playing at certain times.
