Hello i was just thinking about some sort of level editor. If you went into a dorment gate you could choose to create a level. The stratum of the level would be based on the mineral donations. The stratum would make it so you could only place platforms of the same theme and monsters of the same theme. You would be able to place: platforms, monster spawn locations, programable swiches, doors, shield barriers ect.
level editor
I like how some users feel they are the spokerperson's of Three Rings, I mean, really.
On topic, the idea of a level editor would pretty cool and definitely a plus for those who are interested in game design or just want to have fun making levels to run on and test. Heck, think of it as a way for OOO to let the interactive players have a closer role in making levels. The levels can be submitted and OOO could tweak it to fit their needs. Although the level editor would be more like a second, related program than apart of the origianl SK game. That's my thought on it.
The major problem with user-created content is always filtering. If they allowed level submissions from everyone, then most of what they got would be crap. I would guess we would probably get levels faster and of higher quality if they spent the same money to hire extra level designers rather than hiring people to filter through all the submissions, looking for the few good ones and hoping that no one manages to slip an exploit through undetected (even without counting the time they spend supporting the editor). Maybe there's some way of doing enough automated filtering to make this a net time gain, but I'd be very impressed to see one.
And obviously, letting people play custom levels for standard rewards with no filtering would be incredibly exploitable. Not to mention that either they'd still need to throw away 99% of submissions or else risk dividing players between hundreds of what are effectively separate "gates", making it much harder to find groups.
So the only way I could see this working is that you could create your own level and play it, but other players could only join you by direct invitation, and there would be no crowns, heat, etc. at all given out in the map. In which case, I doubt most players would use it, so I have a hard time imagining that creating such an editor would be the most productive thing the devs could do with their time.
OOO would hire a hacker to ruin their company before they'd let ANYONE do that.
