Yes, yes, I know there are a billion other Spur threads, however, I don't care, I'm going to post my ideas on how to make the Spur finally shine in its own style and light, feel free to comment on them.
First off, the most important thing is that Spur needs a 5*, and not to mention, it, like most other swords, should have its own split upgrade paths, and I have a few ideas on them:
2* Spur
Description: A mechanized sword with a built in motor that generates energy bursts when used.
3* Arc Razor
Description: A finely-crafted mechanical sword that flings sharp bolts of energy outward when swung.
4* Winmillion
Description: An ornate blade that propels bolts of energy outward with every swing. Inexperienced users have been known to cut themselves when first practicing with it.
5* Tempest
Description: A regal, ferocious blade whose wind's strength is powerful enough to blow back the user if not controlled properly. It's almost if this blade roars with its strikes of howling wind.
Now, for some diverging upgrade paths:
2* Spur
Description: A mechanized sword with a built in motor that generates energy bursts when used.
3* Static Shock
Description: A Spur upgraded with a stronger motor that generates painful blasts of electricity when used.
Fair chance of causing Moderate Shock.
Does Elemental Damage.
4* Shatterflash
Description: A Static Shock further upgraded to produce stronger shocking, numbing bursts of electricity when used.
Good chance of causing Moderate Shock.
Does Elemental Damage.
5* Summanus
Description: It was debated whether this immensely painful shocking blade was safe enough for use by the Spiral Knights, due to its bursts of powerful eletrocuting electricity, in the end, they decided monsters would have a harder time handling the blade then the Knights.
Good chance of causing Strong Shock
Does Elemental Damage.
2* Spur
Description: A mechanized sword with a built in motor that generates energy bursts when used.
3* Silent Breeze
Description: A Spur upgraded with a motor that produces blackened, shadowy wind.
Does Shadow Damage.
4* Howling Darkness
Description: The spiraling gears in this weapon blow a black wind. They say that when such a wind is released upon an enemy it makes it go mad, but then again only a madman would hold such a weapon. (Description thought of by Quotefanboy)
Does Shadow Damage.
5* Abyss
Description: It's said that monsters always know what is to come when they see Knights with this dark, shadowy, harrowing blade, which is an endless black windy abyss of everlasting darkness.
Does Shadow Damage.
That's my ideas for diverging upgrade paths for the Spur, now, Tempest and Abyss would have to do more damage than Summanus, because of its capability of dealing the enemy with Shock.
Now, on to further matters, the idea of still producing those energy disks on 4*'s-5*'s of the diverging paths is fine, but make them not recognized as projectiles. Seriously. It makes the blade terribly underpowered against certain enemies.
Time to talk about the Charges:
I took time to think about what Charge style would best suite the Spur, and I thought of making then higher starred versions have more energy disks shoot out, but that's sorta a weak copy of Divine Avenger, so I thought of hopefully better more unique Charges that would have some use:
Winmillion: Once used, the Winmillion's Charge will create a fair sized AoE circle, like Bomb's AoE circles, and after a time a tornado would be produced where the AoE was, and like the Graviton/Electron Vortex (But weaker), it would suck up the enemies, but the sucking up radius wouldn't be as big as Gravtion/Electron, and it would do a fair amount of damage because of the skill that aiming this Charge would take, because you have to study where the AoE will appear.
Tempest: Same as Winmillion except the size and sucking radius is slightly increased and the number of tornadoes is increased to 3 (Or 2, whatever seems more reasonable).
Static Shock: An energy disk that's blueish to symbolize its shock properties with a shock animation like the Storm Driver around it, other than that same as Arc Razor.
Shatterflash: Like Winmillion, it would create an AoE circle, however, a black cloud would appear, but WOULDN'T suck up the enemies, instead it would produce lightning that strikes the AoE, because of this, the AoE size would be a bit bigger than Winmillion's, the Charge has a nice reliable chance to cause Shock too.
Summanus: Like Shatterflash and Tempest, it would create about 3 (Or 2) AoE circles with slightly larger radius.
Silent Breeze: Spur's Shadow line is the line drawer, instead of producing AoE circles, it would produce a nicely sized 'sheet' of black-ish/purple-ish wind that would deal damage to all enemies that get caught in it or run into it, however, it wouldn't be extreme because the wind would have moderate knockback and fair size. I can't think of the reasonable damage that it would be.
Howling Darkness: Same as Silent Breeze except the size of the 'sheet' of wind is larger and the knockback is a bit better.
Abyss: Same as Breeze and Darkness except the size is a bit larger than both and the knockback is better.
I think these Charges, if made right, will be unique and balanced fairly well, and not only that, it would make the Spur hopefully better. Whether these Charges are counted as projectiles or not, is up to you, because I'm split on this matter, because this would be solely decided on the effectiveness of the Charge.
Yes, yes, I know, "Another Spur Thread", just stay away from that please and comment and discuss on the ideas I just listed, it would be appreciated.
