Accessories Update

So. We now have a whole bunch more things to take pictures of and categorize. I think that for accessories we should just go with one set of pictures per accessory / item type (so volcanic wings would need a different set of photos than prismatic wings), but that they should all go on the same page: (accessory:wings) or something, perhaps as clickable links.
How do folks feel about doing it this way?
(also, if we see folks with accessories, maybe we should be asking them to provide us with shots?)

I've taken a few screenshots for now - I'm beginning to organize stuff on my user page (clickable).

Also, here's a standard format we should probably ask folks to use when submitting pictures:
Image of a front-view, a side-view, and a rear-view. (ideally with no shield or weapon equipped, to reduce clutter.)
I currently have a full set of images for the Toasty Knight Vision Goggles (attached to a Green Chapeau).

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Template:AccessoryInfo
For the sake of consistent image naming, use that template.

Ah, thanks! I took a brief look for something like that earlier. Very handy.

I've started updating the wiki, but before I go too far - we want 'fiery canteen', 'cool canteen', etc. all on the 'canteen' page, right? If so, how do we decide which one becomes the templated image?

So, where should I be posting screenshots?
Dusky Maid Headband

I have Cool and Volcanic Vented Visor and Prismatic Headband, I took two pictures, let me know which ones you need. Im not binding them yet so they have to be preview pictures.

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Talk:Accessory also has the start of a discussion about accessory documenting as well. Feel free to chime in there.

I've made files for all the icons. Please use the AccessoryInfo template above for each variation of an accessory. This will automatically create standardized filename uploading links. Whenever I spot an image of an accessory showing it's been found by players in-game, I'll upload the matching icon. Happy accessory screenshot hunting!
Edit: We'll remove all the templates later and do a table showing all the variations for each accessory, but for now multiple uses of the template on a page will help with info/image gathering.

Gawd, I hope I did that right. I put a pic of the Heavy Flower up on the flower page. If I did it wrong please know that I am really sorry and I won't attempt it again :)

Small thing, but should we also add a link to the accessory page from the main page under 'Equipment Encyclopedia'?

Okay Well I don't really want to F stuff up on the wiki this is not even half my invi of accessories, but I will update you guys and girls with the rest. I am sure someone will manage to update the wiki with any missing images from these links (The name basically says the item):

I have 23+ More pictures to take for you guys hope that helps.

Did you find any of your accessories cannot be attached to particular items? I noticed that the Plume cannot be attached to the Angelic line, for example.

Another project that might help people using accessories would be to go through the suit/helms in the wiki and label them with the color scheme they use (Fancy, Dusky, Cool, etc.)

There was a post in General about colors any what they match. I like BSOD's idea, would make matching colors much easier.
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/27984
On that note, can someone set up a template for the individual accessory pages which would make a grid of the different colors? Maybe two rows of five colors? That way they can have standard file names, like Color_Page_Name-Equipped.png and it is much easier to see the colors side-by-side. The Mecha Wings page seems to be slowly going in that direction.

Yes majority of my pictures are on different items since not all items can be used on every helm or armor. What I found strange was I can not seem to find many items for the plate series.

-i have drab spike mohawk (already binded to a rock jelly helm) if you want better/cropped picks tell me

So there are little accessory icons at the bottom of armor tooltips. The icons correspond to which accessory types can be attached to that armor.
An entire line doesn't have to share the same properties, interestingly. The Cobalt and Solid Cobalt allow accessories at the front, back and side. Whereas Mighty Cobalt allows accessories on the front and side, but not the back. (It gets a little pony tail automatically when upgraded.) I assume Azure would be the same.
I guess we should add the same icons to the ArmorInfo template.

Yeah, I can add it to the ArmorInfo template sometime this weekend and will post instructions here. This should also include appropriate categories as well.

I added a color chart which shows the colors as gleaned from the accessory icons:
http://media.spiralknights.com/wiki-images/0/0b/Accessory_color_chart.png
Accessories use the primary or secondary colors in consistent manners, from what I've seen. For example, the Helm Guards and Mecha Wings use the primary color for the bulk of the item and the secondary color for the accents. Whereas items like the Flower, Long Feather and Maedate uses the secondary color for practically all of its coloring.
This is important info, not sure how to include it in the wiki though. For example, if someone wanted a redish Long Feather I think they'd need to get Volcanic. Toasty looks more brown than red. Even Heavy would probably be more red than Toasty in this case.
The colors are not precisely representative of items since there seems to be some desaturation and variation of the colors. Fancy isn't quite so purple in-game, and drab isn't quite so tan. The differences between colors are well represented though. Drab's primary color is more tan and less blue than Dusky's primary color. Also, Drab's secondary color is more saturated than Dusky's in-game.

I propose for each accessory (save auras) we have a 10 row horizontal table, so we can put a picture of every color scheme next to each other.
The current vertical thing is kind of bothersome to scroll.
Also standardize the image size for heads and armors to a certain number

I took a bunch of accessory screenies the other night by jumping around between Havens and inspecting people. If there's anything in this that anyone wants to use, feel free: http://steamcommunity.com/id/synkronos/screenshots/ (9 Oct 2011 if they're not at the top of the list).

I've spiffied up the accessory page and added a link to it from the main page. Thanks for the color information, Culture; I've included it as a table.
I'm not entirely convinced I need the style column in the list section, but that's the best way to denote that auras do not come in the same color schemes as the others. If anyone has a better suggestion on how to do that, feel free to let us know.
I'll work on standardizing the individual accessory pages a bit more during this week. Please note that you need to find the accessory in-game rather than using SpiralSpy because the names are not always the same as the filenames and we do have a no spoilers policy.

The new accessories page looks great! I like what you did with the colors, I should really learn how to do wiki templates ._.
I agree with you that the styles column is unnecessary. That could be replaced with just a Notes column that just mentions the Aura's style exception. Actually are those different styles of Aura? Or are they different kinds of Aura? Maybe Auras don't have "styles?"
It would be useful to also add a cropped thumbnail of the accessory, like the List of Sets page does.
I wonder if the color labels should be the other way around. Lots of items just use only the secondary color but are there any that only use the primary color? Maybe it would make more sense to switch the labels around :) Just a random thought.

If you or someone else figures something out with the color schemes, feel free to edit it (or ask me to change it for you). I haven't really looked as carefully as you have.
Good idea about the notes column. I'll do that later this week if nobody beats me to it.

@Equinox nick already revealed the "stinky" aura ingame (name could be wrong), and there were pictures of the flies-around-dread-skelly-set-he-showed somewhere on these forums. Isnt that enough to make it not an spoiler anymore since it was spoiled already by the devs?

The name isn't Stinky. I'll be happy to leave the name as soon as it's correct.
Edit: Image uploaders, see my note here: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Talk:Accessory#Master_image_list

Thanks to TGYoshi, the ArmorInfo template now has a spot for accessory info. If you have a piece of equipment, just edit that page according to the new directions at http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Template:ArmorInfo
You only need to have the optional variables that are yes for an item as the default for all of them is no.
So you can just copy and paste the appropriate section below into the template usage on a page and delete the lines that don't apply:
| helmet_top = yes
| helmet_side = yes
| helmet_front = yes
| helmet_back = yes
| armor_front = yes
| armor_back = yes
| armor_aura = yes

@Equinox I spotted a gm with prismatic angelic wings and took pictures, is it a spoiler unless a regular player is wearing them?

Shown with toasty vertical vents and ghostly aura:
http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/7166/toastybombbandolier.png

A pic off a GM is fine, they are in-game! However, it's not Prismatic Angelic Wings; the name has no "Angelic" in it.

Oh its just that some people refer to Mecha Wings as wings. Ok Im preparing a pack of images because I'm not well versed on editing the wiki, hopefully someone uploads them :P. Ill add the wings.
EDIT: pictures here http://www.mediafire.com/?4r4e5o4iy6j6all all pictures include at least the "standard" preview angle, but may also have a custom "detail" angle whenever I thought you could see the accessory better.

Got me a Cool Pipe on Chapeau of the Blue Rose
Edit: also, if there's nothing available yet, here's a Dusky Side Blade on a Skolver Coat

Since we now have categorized all the helmets & armor for their various accessory attachment points, I've updated a few templates and have started to standardize pages about accessories. http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Bolted_Vee for a standardized example if you want to convert other pages. Feel free to elaborate on the descriptions. Also feel free to double-check equipment pages to make sure they have the correct attachment points listed.
It's possible that we can just remove the notes variable for AccessoryInfo, but I'm leaving it there for now in case we think of something else that would be useful in that box.
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Template:Accessory_see_also can always take more relevant links if you think of any to edit into it.
Along with that I have altered the styles column of the accessory list on the accessory page. "All standard styles" for the ones that have the typical 10 types.

I they don't seem to help much in battle but it makes you look pretty fancy. But no I will not wear accessories.

I Don't think Steam user's can edit the Wiki yet but these are screen shots I took off all the Accessory's I have gotten so far. So if anyone feels like editing and uploading them go ahead.

I've added another optional variable to the rows of the tables for each accessory to accommodate for the image uploading issue. Since there are more than 300 accessory images for us all to accidentally upload the wrong one or a fuzzy screenshot, this will allow for a different named but still standardized image name.
So for example:
If the wrong image is uploaded for the Toasty Helm-Mounted Display, just go to the Helm-Mounted Display and where you see this:
{{Accessorytable/row|Toasty|Helm-Mounted Display}}
Change it to something like this:
{{Accessorytable/row|Toasty|Helm-Mounted Display|2}}
Then you can use the new red link to easily upload the fixed equipped image as Toasty Helm-Mounted Display2-Equipped.png.

On the wiki page, a lot of the pictures aren't loading up...only some of them. When I click on the link of the ones not showing up, it says I'm not logged in. Could somebody fix this problem.
Thanks.

That's because screenshots haven't been gathered for all the different accessory images in-game. Clicking on the red link takes you to the upload page and uploading requires that you be logged in.

i have a screen shot of GM_Aphrodite. im not sure if she (i hope your a girl) wants to contribute, i'll wait for some sign of permission to use the photo. i'm also unaware of what type of wings it may be.

Screenshoted today.

posting here because steam accounts can't log in to the wiki...
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8490991/Heavy_Long_Feather-Equipped.png
also, the wiki seems to say on the Accessories main page that the Long Feather uses secondary colours listed in the palette down below... but that seems inconsistent. that would make the Prismatic just grey? and if that were the case the Heavy i just screen'd should have been orange/red... the Drab appears to use a darker blue unlike the grey or teal listed...

No, prismatics use a mix of personal and secondary color, and usually have more work to them than the regular accessories, at the very east the long feather will be personal color without extra detail.
putting this here to be uploaded by someone when they can, steam accounts still can't wikiedit...

I currently have a Regal Wolver Tail equipped that I'd like to take a pic of for the wiki, but I'm playing on a Steam account so I cannot edit the wiki, and I seem to be unable to take screenshots atm. Is there a place I can find screenshot takers?

By pressing the "PrtScn" button on your keyboard it'll save a capture of the screen. Then editing any digital drawing program (Photoshop, MS Paint, Easy Paint-tool Sai, ect) you hit CTRL+V or Edit+Paste (through the menus) and then you'll have the screen shot. You can crop from there. I am assuming your saying that your screenshots wont save on your own, if they wont the above is what you do. If you are saying that you have tried the above and it did not work, I do not believe there are any "Screenshot Taker" programs out there...
Good luck!

Oh, no not like that buddy. I mean specific SK players who take pics for the wiki. I'm on a mac so I lack a prtscn button, and I set a hotkey for screenshots in Steam, but my computer seems unresponsive to this at the current moment. Either way, if I DO manage to fix this, what's the best angle for a wolver tail pic? (In terms of 3/4 from the back, profile-esque, etc.)
Stick with separate pages for now until enough information is gathered. We can always merge pages and do redirects.
As for folks with accessories, try using inspect to take a PNG screenshot.
