I'd like to have a progress-saving system where if you are in the middle of a clockworks level, you can choose to log out and at the same time save your progress in your current run. Then when you log back on later you can choose to continue from EXACTLY where you left off or go back to haven if you change your mind. And maybe they could make it so mist energy doesn't regenerate to avoid exploits. Not to mention the information on where you are, what level, heat and all that stuff would be stored on the server. And if you are in a party, you would simply leave the party, save your progress and log out. I would love this idea to be part of the game because if I'm in the middle of a Vana run, and I get called into work or maybe it gets late for me I'd like to be able to save my progress, log out and later log back on and continue from where I left off. What do you guys think?

It would also require that
It would also require that dive instances be recorded or left alive for extended periods... both of which aren't viable options with the limited resources the servers currently have. Client side storage would never be an option since its vulnerable to modification.

At Elevator?
They could maybe allow it only at elevators--"next level, return to Haven, or save & quit?" Storing vitapods/quickbar items can't be large compared to all the data they already save for each knight. If the gate expires before you log back in, too bad, you're sent back to Haven.
I suspect that running out of mist energy mid-tier is one of the ways they try to get people to spend CE, though, so allowing save & regenerate mist isn't necessarily in their interests.
One major problem off the top of my head is the fact that gates rotate out. Trying to resume a game in a gate that doesn't exist anymore would be pretty problematic. Not entirely sure there's a way around that.
Another consideration is the fact that OOO would have to store all your session info, mist, vials, vitapods, etc on their servers for the whole duration you're logged off. Considering the number of players (and how convenient it would be) it would result in a near-constant increase in server load.
