Hello Devs,

While running through dungeons, I would like to see party buttons that spawn a large mini-boss instead of enemy waves. Fighting a singular large monster, I think, would not only change the pace, but also get players more comfortable with combating real bosses.

Hmmm......

Though i like the idea, what would they be though? Would it just be a bigger version of a monster or new ones. Im not saying it sucks (its awesome and i mean it), I just would like to know the enemies. think about it: You wouldnt wanna fight a giant rocket puppy would you?

I would! =D Wait...actually I don't because my Gravity bomb doesn't do damage to turrets! Darn it! But wait! Take that back! Yeah I wouldn't mind facing a large rocket puppy if I have the Winmillion!

Having bosses within T1 would

Having bosses within T1 would certainly be nice, or new enemies in general. I'm sure that, as an MMO, this game will continue to gain some new features, levels, and such as long as it proves to be successful. In general I'd like to seem more enemies with AI beyond "walk straight towards player and attack when in range". Creates a lot of mobbing in fights. Spookats, Menders, and those bomber enemies mix it up a bit but having some more mini-boss type monsters like the horse knights would certainly further help change up the pace.

Trojans and some of the

Trojans and some of the larger lichens really capture this feel, it's the idea of "whoa, watch out for that monster!" rather than the threat of swarms. Personally, I would like to see something like 30 bosses/minibosses, each based around a certain stratum theme and tier level. I expect that such things may come with time.

+1

Necroing this thread because it's what I wanted to suggest :p

Totally +1 this idea. I absolutely love this game, but sometimes the random levels have almost no difficulty, and you know very clearly when a boss will be coming up. I'm thinking perhaps at the end of a stratum, there's a chance for a boss to be present at the end of the stage. The boss would embody both of the themes of the level (so for example a Toxic Construct stage would feature a boss Scuttlebot jacked up on poision style damage with some punny name and a few little scuttlebots surrounding him). The boss would essentially be similar to when you have a Giant Lichen Colony spawning on a party-switch, in that it doesn't take anything particularly special to kill it, but it does take a bit more effort, and reaps a nice explosion of shinies. I'd suggest only about a 10% chance to meet a random boss in the T1 stratum, a 25% chance in T2, and a 40-50% chance in T3, which would give more challenge, and more fun to T3, while keeping T1 guys safe from too much fear. Keep in mind because there'd be a chance to roll the boss at the bottom of each stratum layer, a single column could roll 6 bosses (it would be individual whether you meet it or not, thus the random factor).

I hope that makes some sense. Maybe to just make it a bit more concise, here's a rundown.

  • mini-bosses spawn randomly at the bottom of each stratum
  • the chance of meeting a mini-boss is individual/team-based, and not determined when the column is created
  • the mini-bosses don't require any special way of killing them
  • the mini-boss' type and status problem are associated with the stage you fight. eg. shock+fiend could potentially create a big flying bat with some silly name like Beryl Bat
  • the chance of meeting a mini-boss goes up as you get deeper
