Spectator Mode Option

You know how when your character dies, you can spectate your friends fighting the mobs until you get revived? And you know how you could see in your friends list what depth your friend is currently fighting at? What happens if we combine the both?

Even though one of my friend's party is full, I still want to spectate their game. Especially when they get to depth 24 or something! Also if one of your friends is getting his butt kicked, you can immediately jump in there and help your friend out. That is always useful. before they enter the depths Players could have an option where they choose to allow their friends to spectate them or not

Idk, I think it would be a pretty neat little feature in the game. I mean come on, lets face it. In FPSs you can spectate players games, it would be nice to see it incorporated into Spiral Knights.

Why not make this into full

Why not make this into full fledged part of the arcade?

Walk up to the gate icon screen (You know to the left of the gate)
Noticed how they look like a monitor?
Activate it, and wolha, spectate any player down there in that gate.
Left click and jump to another player..

The only problem I see is that whenever you start spectating, you have to load the level they are on before you can se anything..

i want this, but not just for friends

i want a command like this:
/spectate (name)

you cannot do it in the clockworks levels, of course, but anywhere in haven and in the guildhall.
you cannot chat or /tell with the player or his party, while you are spec-ing, of course, because it would be annoying for them.

there were times, when i had to leave a party and laters wondered how they were doing without me. when i get an important phone call, for example, i would like to see, if the party made it to the next section.

however, maybe there should also be a spoiler warning, because if a noob is spec-ing someone, who haz teh knowings of teh game, it could spoil everything.

Honestly, for this game, I don't think a /tell restriction is necessary. The game is too fast-paced for advice to matter much and it's not against human players (yet).

The /tell restriction is to

The /tell restriction is to avoid demotivating comments.
Example (Sally and Fred are made up): Sally is removed from Freds party, because she constantly explodes boxes near other players (hurting them). Now she specs Fred and tells him how bad he is, how much he "fails", that he wont make it to the elevator anyways and he shouldn't have removed her in the first place, because she can beat this particular monster that much better than he does. ... but you're right, its probably not absolutely necessary, because Sally can probably be reported or ignored for that behavior. I just fear that so many other people also spec Fred and join in on mobbing him, so he cant /ignore or report all of them.

I don't think this would be needed in the normal mode, but would be useful once you're dead in bomberman.

Could just make an option to

Could just make an option to ignore spectators.

I support this suggestion. Make it happen, Three Rings.

*bump*
I don't think having to load the whole level first is that big of a deal. Perhaps spectating might kill the servers, but I really don't know too much about these things. In any case, it would certainly be very nice to have this feature slowly work it's way into SK in the future.
