Energy

Whatever happened to the 2,000 crown for 100 energy thing? Why have the prices inflated?

Also, on a side note, can you trade energy player to player? I really hope that someone would be willing enough to give me money or 200 energy for 4,543 crowns.

.............

People happened.

Short and sweet: Players control the market. P2P want more cr for their spent money, and f2Pers want ce, so market price goes up and stays there. That, added with a glitch that gave the players who abused if a ton of cr, drove it up higher, where it's staying. (Glitch is fixed btw, though I have absolutely no idea what it is.)

@Sidenote: You'll have to find one VERY generous person to do that. Current price for 100ce was 6K, last I checked. Goodluck

@psycho

There was a glitch that after finishing the first room of JK's old Flame Lash arena, crowns started going haywire, maybe +100 per second... or so I heard

But apparently there was a cap to the glitch, hence mass influx of CR to the market

Just so you know

It's not always inflation if the price rises. The most recent spike might have been, but the vast majority of price changes are not.

Um...

I think when he said 'inflated' he meant 'massive growth in price', not the inflation we learn in economics in high school.

High School? I got a degree in that ish.

People routinely use the word inflation in relation to CE, which is just incorrect.

Yeah, well

People use words in the context they think it right. 'Inflation' sounds like a word that means 'expansion' or 'growth'. So that's how they use it.

Problem is, they don't understand that in market terms, it's slightly different -_-

um

that still doesn't make it correct.

I'll find someone to take me up to tier 2 to help me reap crowns to buy energy

That, added with a glitch

That, added with a glitch that gave the players who abused if a ton of cr, drove it up higher, where it's staying.

*sigh* If you are going to make up a reason for the current exchange rate, could you please just blame boswick?

Reviewing the data from the tread about the glitch as it was happening, the exchange rate was around 6.1k before the glitch, it spiked to about 7k, then went back down to 6.3k within a few hours. However, the special CE deal of $7.50 per 3500CE had also ended the day before, and that almost certainly had a *MUCH* larger impact on the longer term rise in the exchange rate.

So, stop blaming short term things, like the arena crown glitch, or power surge weekends, or boswick in the fountian.

Sorry

Hey, I was only parroting what I've heard. I haven't exactly been on much for the past month or so. I'm a little out of touch with the general going-ons. I'm only ever on to craft until the end of this week.

To inflate is to swell up in

To inflate is to swell up in the English language. A market bubble could be called inflation using normal English language. Yes, there are certain fields that attribute different meanings to different words, but at most those words are simply an alternative meaning to the word.

Just like I've given up on clarifying the difference between the scientific definition of theory and our common definition of theory, I don't feel as though it is worth coming down upon anyone who uses a technical term incorrectly. You know what he meant. You're just being a fail grammar nazi.

Anyways, the current value is much closer to the true value, if such a thing existed, of Crystal Energy than 2000 CR.

LOLOLOL right at launch when

LOLOLOL right at launch when everyone was desperate for crowns... 50 Crowns for 100 Energy LOL I WAS IN HEAVEN!
Then a week later it rose to 1000 then rose after a few weeks to 2000 and kept rising and stopped at 4000 for a month or so. GOOD TIMES, GOOD TIMES!

Sure

I knew what he meant, but I also knew he did not mean "to swell up". Nobody uses inflate that way in this context. I think it's an understatement to say that 99% of people talking about CE inflation are not talking about swelling prices, they're just misusing the term. There's no substance in a thread where the OP asks why CE doesn't cost 200 crowns each and then asks for charity. It's been done before. Let's at least make it worthwhile by learning a new word.

A market bubble makes more since because it's not really economic inflation; the perceived value of the good is rising, not just the price. Inflated (swelling) prices actually make sense in this context.
