One of my guild's Veterans, Cakeasaurus, is having some relatively serious surgery tomorrow and I would just like to ask for him to be in the thoughts and prayers of the wonderful SK community. All of us from Knightmare wish him a safe surgery and a complication-free recovery. I hope you all will hope for the same.

If you wanna say something to your guild, just tell it to your guild. You don't need to openly announce it. Making a thread about this is pointless and on the level of attention-craving.

Yeah uh, it's nice that your friend is going under some surgery but this is still off-topic. How is this even related to Spiral Knights? The General Discussion section is about discussing THE GAME AND IT'S CONTENT. Not about that one guy idling in the Auction House with proto gear.
I'm not being a douche here, you're just mad. Besides, this is a serious topic that you shouldn't go on and talk about in public. Do you think it's fine to go outside in public and say things like "Yeah, my friend is going under surgery" or "Some guy I know died" because these are depressing topics. If you REALLY cared about your friend you would have discussed it with your guild in guild chat. Not everyone wants to know or care. I hope your friend dies, it'll show you all a good lesson.

Talking about players and random things goes in Gremlin Chatter. But the General Discussion section is about discussing the game and it's content. Not the players. With your logic I can tape a piece of paper to my computer screen and say "This is SK related, discuss" or I can make a thread about that one guy that's idling in the arcade.
You're only justifying your crappy threads as on-topic threads because you're begging for attention. Admit it already. Admit that this section is clogged with crappy off-topic threads, and admit that the mods are asleep.
Never met him to my recollection, but best wishes to Cake. Surgery isn't pleasent at the best of times, let alone when it's something serious.

As futile as your rants may be I could at least see where you were coming from and agree with some of it, but yeah this is the point where you've gone from "sort of dickish but making a good point at the core of it all" to "probably developed his personality in a car crash". Seriously dude go outside before your rants completely shift into personal attacks and get you banned, although with the way you're going that may be required just to get you to think more about what you're typing.

I gotta admit, I'm a bit on Par with Ren here. I mean, the GD HAS been kinda getting Off-Topic for a while & I'll even admit, I've made some Threads that aren't a bit related to the Game. But Ren. If these guys want to make a Hope Thread for their Friend in a Guild, I say let 'em.(Even though I don't much like Knightmare) I mean, they aren't hurting anybody, are they? Plus, I haven't seen a GM move this Thread anywhere, so I guess it IS Open for Discussion. Not to Everyone, but still open for Discussion.
@ren: please get off this thread, if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything, and you're not exactly putting across a good vibe here. i.e. the statement that Echoez has in italics in his post.
I'm reluctant to contribute to the derailing of this thread. However, I'd point out that a thread made to bolster a Spiral Knights community member's spirits in their time of need gets more leeway from me in terms of staying in General Discussion, whereas "Are you a brony?" type threads are Gremlin Chatter material.
If anyone would like to bring moderator attention to threads they feel violate the forum guidelines, the proper way to do that is by submitting a report to support, not by going all sackcloth and ashes in the thread itself.

And Ren, I understand that you really enjoy being a mod's pet and all, but wishing death on someone to get people to stop posting "unrelated" content in a certain online forum is quite possibly the stupidest, most hateful thing you could've said. Leave the modding to the ones who are paid to do it. The best advice I have is to get off the computer, practice talking to real human beings, and maybe give some respect to someone who's going through a hard time instead of hoping that they die. Seriously.
