(Should this be in New Recruits? It feels like a nooby question..)

Anyhoo; I was away from the game for some months after summer, and it was during that time that the "overview" section of the character tab was implemented, giving you a run-down of your overall stats. I love it totally, but this one thing has me stumped!

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa4/Darkbrady/Spiral%20Knights/Nitro.jpg

My Nitronome here, has Beast/Construct bonuses "low" on it. Nowhere else on my set do I have any bonuses against beast or construct at all.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa4/Darkbrady/Spiral%20Knights/NitroS...

However, on my overview for my Nitronome, I have both bonuses clocked at Max!

Now, all I've been able to figure is that it's one of three things:
a/ A bug/error in the overview and the bonuses are utterly false and still mean "low"
b/ I have full Mad Bomber and an Elite Boom Trinket, so all my bombs always have Max! damage on them; it's possible that this could have something to do with it, although I can't figure out why, really.
c/ Well, I'm guessing this is probably the right answer, but I've no idea what it is, s'why I'm asking you! :D

Uv Damage bonuses and Armour

Uv Damage bonuses and Armour damage bonuses apply a certain percantage of damage increase, however it is not possible to go over maximum so your Uvs are only beneficial when you are not stacking Damage bonus trinks or armour

essentially if you dropped a medium damage bonus trink, all your bombs would drop to VH, but your Nitro against those monsters would have ultra

Normally, if you have a

Normally, if you have a generic damage bonus and a monster-specific bonus, that summary will show the universal bonus and then the combined total. For example, if I equip a Skolver Cap (sword damage medium) and a Radiant Silvermail (damage medium vs. undead), then my sword will say:

  • Damage Bonus: Medium
  • Damage Bonus vs. Undead: Very High

Because medium + medium = very high.

In your case, you've already got a maximum global bonus, so the amounts listed are the same for both. Arguably, it should hide the monster-specific bonuses in that case (which would make this a minor UI bug--not the first), but one could also argue that displaying both helps to clarify that the bonus is being capped, so it could be intentional.

If any of your gear receives

If any of your gear receives a "vs monster" buff it will show up at the bottom stacked with all the rest of your buffs.

I know how everything works

I know how everything works in general, my main question was "why are my vs:family bonuses being buffed beyond low, when I have no other bonuses?". Do regular damage increase bonuses actually affect the family bonuses too? I mean mad bomber only gives regular bomb damage, but does that mean it increases regular bomb damage AND the uv family type bonuses?

If that's the case then I never need any more than a family:low bonus on my bombs to turn it into max and abuse damage on them..get undead on my RSS and it'll stomp all over FSC...seems kinda...OP o_o

Hmm

When you have a Bomb Damage Bonus Medium it will affect the bomb's base damage and any UVs. For example...

Starting with Construct Low, Beast Low then add Mad Bomber Helm you get:
Damage Bonus: Medium
Damage Bonus vs Construct: High
Damage Bonus vs Beast: High

Add in Mad Bomber Suit and you'll get:
Damage Bonus: Very High
Damage Bonus vs Construct: Ultra
Damage Bonus vs Beast: Ultra

Add in a Elite Bomb Damage Trinket and you'll get:
Damage Bonus: Maximum
Damage Bonus vs Construct: Maximum
Damage Bonus vs Beast: Maximum

Just to clarify further, the bonuses do not stack. If your Nitro does 100 damage to a Fiend in the last case it will do 100 to a Construct. You're doing max damage to all family types, making UVs pointless if you already have Max damage.

Ahh, really? Wasn't aware

Ahh, really? Wasn't aware that bonuses didn't stack on top of each other; that'd basically make the RSS' Fiend bonus moo for me then. That's good to know though; never really gone to any effort to test it. Well..guess that saves me ever needing to worry about UVs for my bombs then :D

Cheers for that :)
