Welcome to my crazy FSC running thread! - I know Shadow Lairs are technically end-game, but I'm an elitist preview player that reminisces about the good ol' days, on the other hand, if you didn't pick up on that at all, there's noting to worry about! x)

PLEASE DON'T POST YOUR ROLE INFO, STEAM NAME ETC. IN THIS THREAD ---> There's 2 parts to the "initiation", with specific instructions, which I've listed below.

1) Firstly, read through this post, yes it looks like a lot, but I'm offering a pretty rad service that I think a lot of people may be interested in.

2) The second part of initiation is reading the info on the website which I've linked at the bottom of this post.

So! The aim of this event: I need players to be dedicated dungeoneers for a trial period, the more the merrier because not EVERYONE is going to be online ALL the time. It'd be extremely preferable for them to be 5 star, skilled players to achieve the best experience for the run, although, I'll welcome any exceptionally skilled players who have 4 star gear that are planning on upgrading.

The aim has been slightly changed since I started the thread, and it is: To cram as many runs into a single day as possible via this method, the initial goal was 10, so let's see if we can match that, or even break it (provided there's a run that includes 4 Asians)!

Steam Group Idea Suggested By: Squishat [Post #]

So, let's get the most tedious part out of the way, although it takes about a minute to do, if not less. It's pretty much essential that you create a Steam account to take part in this, I get no personal satisfaction from seeing you whine over not wanting to create an account, it's for the benefit of the event and more-so yourself. The idea is that you sign up to Steam and sign into your Steam account whenever you're on Spiral Knights.

You don't have to bind your Steam account to your Spiral Knight's account, although, it could be helpful. I just recommend that you read up on how it works because it IS a one way procedure, thus making your account bound to Steam... Forever *evil genius laugh*. But in all seriousness read up on Steam account binding. I'm sure it's in your least interest to have your account bound to Steam when you didn't want for that to happen and even worse; not having a time machine at hand to go back in time and stop it from happening.

Another thing to add, to make it easier to identify whos account is linked to which Knight, I've decided to use a naming policy.

When you make an account and join the Steam group, at the top of your client you should see a "Friends" tab, click it and then hit "Change Profile Name...", add your Knight's name to the end of your steam name in Square Brackets, e.g. "Steam Name[Your Knight's Name Here]". This will make it clear as to who is who on Spiral Knights.

So! About that Steam Group, hopefully Steam is a program that some of you are already familiar with, if not just type "Steam" into Google and shazam! click on the first link, then move your eyeballs to the top right of your screen, click on "login" and after the page has loaded, hit the lovely green "JOIN STEAM" button. With your newly made Steam account you'll need to join the Steam group and leave Steam running while you're playing Spiral Knights.

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/RAEGE

Do note: The Steam group is invite only, how you get in is explained later when you read the website info.

_~Steam only takes up 15MB of RAM while minimized to the system tray, so don't worry about it eating up your RAM!~_

By creating an account, joining the group and following the naming policy, you've just made it a damn lot easier to keep track of who is online which will later become clear when you visit the website later on in this post.

The next part is kind of filler material, just some background information, so it's not essential to read it.

_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~
Straight up, I suck at merchanting, I've never been a relatively rich player in most games because I sucked at merchanting and any grinding/farming I did would be interrupted by almost anything, seeing as grinding and farming is insanely boring, so ANYTHING other than grinding seemed interesting after doing (sometimes only a portion of) the tedious task.

Is this Razorlined's get rich quick scheme? No!... Far from it, at least that's what my thoughts are telling me...

This, is Razorlined's... *takes a deep breath* If-you-also-suck-at-merchanting-and-don't-get-bored-easily-and-you're-a-better-fighter-than-money-maker-but-want-to-earn-a-serious-sum-of-crowns-then-read-on... Scheme.

_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~_~

So, let's talk FSC. You accumulate 7-8k raw crowns per run, plus tokens, which are worth 3k (when you have 30 tokens, you can vendor Ancient Plate Armour and receive 30k crowns). In total that's about 10k per run, give or take 100k per 10 runs, which is why it'd technically be 100k/day for those people who bother with the petty thing called "sleep". :>

"Sure! It's a fairly slow way of getting crowns compared to other methods, but it's a sure-fire way to get them!" said Joe Bloggs.

I've soloed FSC in under an hour, so with multiple theories floating about arguing which is the better way, whether it be a duo, three-man party or a full party, I think you'll be involved in enough runs for you to decide which of the theories you support. I'd like to see how this pans out over a week trial period to get a feel for whether this would be a long term viable option or whether it's a straight up no-no.

So, let's get down to business.
I'm usually online around 4PM GMT and sometimes get on earlier Tuesdays and Fridays. I usually sleep whenever my head starts to hurt.
Also, here's a convenient "Time Zone Map" to work out what time 4PM GMT is in your time zone. - http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/

Keeping this thing organised isn't per say "easy", so I've created a website - the very same that I mentioned earlier - which is also the 2nd part of the initiation into this event.

After you've read through the Home Page of the website you should be pretty well informed as to what to do.
http://www.spiral-fsc-run.webs.com

10 times a day? Wow, I feel pretty accomplished if I can squeeze in 2, what's with classes and stuff.

From my experience, I find that running with 3 competent people to be the fastest, since monster health scales up a lot with a full party. People have said that more people = greater chance of big coins dropping, but I haven't seen any numbers regarding this.

You could always join a FSC-oriented guild, which can help you a lot in getting teams and such.

10 times a day runing FSC is pretty ambitious.

I've run with all sorts of parties in FSC and i don't think the 3 vs 4 theory holds water (I have no facts to back it up).
Bottom line is if you have competent skilled people running with you it will go faster and little or no health will be lost.

Hit me up...im usually good for an FSC run. IGN: Blaumph

P.S. save your tokens for FOV if you want te most bang for your buck (30k for each FOV).

It seems like I'm getting the response I'd expect, it's a lot of man-hours, but I've been sat at the computer on SK some days staring at the screen doing nothing and wasted so much time and I think this project/event will fill in where I had nothing to do before.

@Myllakka - Thing is, the monster health goes up a lot but if you have 4 people all doing their fair share of damage, then everything balances out.

@Blaumph - I've found that 2 or 4 people tends to be the best in my experience, I think having a duo or full team seems to balance out in terms of the mob's health increase player/dps.

Also, Ancient Plate is 5*, by vendoring FoVs you're getting the same crowns as Ancient Plate at the cost of extra effort and time! ^^

Okay so I'm going to add a little extra to the criteria, "Have Blitz?" and "Have Shiver?".

This is because it speeds up the run drastically if someone is Shivering Vanaduke and the other 3 are Blitzing, it makes the run a little less fun, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for the amount of crowns per day we'll all be getting.

Am a pure bomber, so I have all my bombs max/max, including Shiver ofc.
I'd have to agree that generally a 3man party is fastest, as the 4th person scales up the monsters radically more, whereas going from 2~3 people is a relatively small jump, but I guess it depends what's happening.

My guild typically does several FSC runs a day (often w/ 2/3 parties running at once), but I don't think I've seen anyone blitz ten yet. Altough they're usually not doing it in the most rush-through-asap fashion, and I don't think they've ever thought "hey, let's do it ten times!" so who knows.

If you can get it done 10x in 5 hours I'll be shocked/impressed, but I'm game to try. Altough for maximum speed, I'd suggest you have an alt or someone handy sitting on D22/23 and let everyone jump straight there and build the parties from there by going solo/inviting. You won't get the benefits of basil (but that's not the purpose of this trial) and you'll lose out on pots/vitapods, but with last-stand effect and skilled players, this should generally be not much of an issue, certainly at least for the sheer amount of time it'll save by skipping out stratum5.
Altough strat5 isnae bad atm; the Concrete Jungle lair can be ran pretty quickly...

Oh hey, you're that guy I talked to the other day. How's it going!

I consider myself a relatively skilled player, so having me around shouldn't slow you down by much.
As for Lord Vanaduke himself, I'm more into peppering him with my Blitz Needle with two Elite Trueshot Modules equipped. If the number of bullets per charge are what I have been told, a full charge without any shields in the way does a whopping 2,910 damage (194 per bullet), or 3,240 damage (216 per bullet) whilst poisoned by an Ultra Poison Vial. I also like using a Dread Venom Striker for the mask phases which has a great damage output and poisons for even more damage.

That said, count me in.

I play this game casually, so I don't see the point in making crowns a full-time job. Nevertheless, I find that the most enjoyable FSC runs are the fastest and most efficient ones, so I'd be happy to join in if only for a few runs a day :)

EDIT: I agree with Shidara on the above, and I also bring an FoV for quick slag guard execution (unless I'm the shiverer).

Put me down for both, I already signed up and stuff...

(although prefer shivering)

Also after seeing this thread I was curious how long I took on an average run, and I timed it...

From the second the gate in D24 goes down to vana dying at D28 took us (a party of 4) 36:40 mins, including elevator loading times etc.

Of these, D24 took 6-7mins, D25 took the longest (not surprisingly) at 9-10mins, and 26, 27 were about even.

Took about 3-4mins for the Vana fight. Not great, just an average run :D, but was interesting to see as I've never timed it before.

Could still have been faster, wasted a bit of time in between with people slight afking and whatnot xD

edit:
also wouldn't it be easier to just create a steam group for this instead of using a new site altogether? Even if your SK wasn't linked to your steam it could still work pretty well.

I'd loved to have known how I was going to sort everything out, but unfortunately I didn't, I'll admit that I'm not a brilliant organiser and that Steam is probably the best way to go, since everyone with an internet connection and a brain cell has access to it in addition to it being a very good platform for organising a group.

Plus, i am a F2P player. Every of those feats were quite a challenge to me, and i guess i am really skilled now, after facing such challenges regularly during my game experience.
