Currently, if you take any damage at all while charging a weapon, the charge is interrupted and starts back at zero again. Also, with bombs in particular, releasing the charge a moment early results in completely wasting the charge doing no damage at all, and causes the knight to perform a very slow recovery animation which leads to certain death in PvP.
I would like to see the following modifications:
First of all, a charge bar at the bottom of the screen would be a great addition. Stick it between the weapon and vitapod circle, just above the heart bar. Have it fill up as you charge your weapon, and give it a distinct glow when the charge is ready to deploy. It's often quite difficult to tell when a charge is ready when the view of your character is obstructed and/or many knights are simultaneously charging their weapons as the animations and sounds can overlap.
Second, for bombs specifically, don't discard the whole charge when it's accidentally dropped early. Give a 1-second grace period or just have the charge dissipate at the same rate it charges, so that the player can resume charging it and isn't stuck in a self-induced stun that leaves the knight completely defenceless. Shielding would immediately cancel the charge back to zero. For guns and swords, releasing the charge early at least causes the knight to attack so this doesn't apply to them.
Third, when taking damage, the charge should only be set back in proportion to the amount of damage the knight takes, scaled to the current depth (or equivalent depth in pvp). It's a bit ridiculous that hitting someone in PvP with a Proto Gun, even in T3, can completely negate a charge and prevent a bomber from ever attacking. Similarly sword charge attacks would be much more useful in PvP with this type of mechanic modification.
in Tier 3 Lockdown that there's a lot of inexperienced people with good equipment, like Gran Fausts that come to you, charging up their weapon. I slash them once, and they still continue to try to charge their weapon while running away. I quickly dispose of them and kind of feel sad for them. This could give them a chance, but... it's not like it's the game's fault they're stubborn about charging up.
