There's a lot of smartphone/tablet craze going around these days, and as such, some people want portable versions of their favorite games.
One of these games might be Spiral Knights for a lot of people, as it's fun to play, easy, doesn't require many buttons and mostly runs flawlessly.
A port of Spiral Knights for iOS or Android would be nice to have when you have an Internet connection available and want to kill some time and don't have a computer around.
Advantages:
-Spiral Knights on the go would be fun for long trips.
-Simple to play, would only need the touch screen to play it, as you could just move by dragging your finger accross the screen and attack by tapping twice, speak to NPCs by tapping, etc.
-The game runs on Java, so it wouldn't be hard to port.
It doesn't need to be a 100% perfect carbon print of the original game, it doesn't need to be ultra detailed. Just Spiral Knights.
I would love to see Spiral Knights on Android. Since it's a Java based game it shouldn't be to difficult to port over. There aren't many controls for this game either, so an "analog" control on the left side and a few "buttons" on the right for touch screen controls.
I've been reading a few threads about this subject, and I see a lot of people saying it can't be done based on hardware restrictions. Let's get that myth out of the way right now:
Nvidia Tegra 3 + Shadowgun THD
Even the Tegra 2 could handle games like Shadowgun and GTA III. Yeah, I get it, these games were optimized to run on the Tegra, but considering the power of these processors it wouldn't take much to get Spiral Knights on my Asus Transformer Prime.
I'm really looking forward to Sonic the Hedgehog 4 on Android, and would love to see more Sega games being developed for this platform.
