There is this weird issue I have. I have played Spiral for a MONTH, and now, today, I don't have the "Sign into steam" option. Why can't I do that? How should I log in? My friend can log into HIS steam account.

Not sure if this is related, but thought I'd throw it out there and check to see if it's connected to the problem.
I have the same issue, no option to sign in via Steam. Just username/password and "Log in as Guest".
I noticed when trying for the 4th time of restarting steam and my computer that when I started up Spiral Knights, my steam status became green as per usual (In game - Spiral Knights) but then turned blue as soon as the game started opening. Showing me as just "online" not playing the game at all. Perhaps this might explain the lack of a "log in via Steam account" option? The game isn't even detecting I'm using it via a Steam Account. Nothing I have done including restarting computer, Steam and reinstalling Spiral Knights has fixed the problem.
I am also unsure if this is connected, but I notice that this comes immediately after two updates. I am running the game on my Mac, and recently got an update telling me that beta was over, and got a Steam update. Similarly got an update to Spiral Knights when I logged in. Game was running absolutely fine for me before this happened (earlier this morning)

this is the exact same thing that happened to me.
i patched spiral knights and it launched but there was no log in with steam option so i quit SK. then a pop up from steam told me to restart steam so it would update. i did that and relaunched SK and still no log in with steam option.
i restarted steam a few times and restarted my computer and still the same problem.
so i would say that the problem is with the new SK patch and not the steam update. i run on mac like tellius so i doubt this is a problem with my computer.

Narrows it down
Thanks for that Snoeshi, at least that's an assurance that the problem lies with the Spiral Knights update, and not the Steam one. So we're looking for help in the right place.
Out of interest, which Mac OS are you running? I play Spiral Knights on my old MacBook, which runs 10.5.8. At this point it's unlikely that there'll be much of a solution other than waiting for the right people to notice and recognise the problem, then release a fix patch. But it might help narrow down the problem and see exactly how many people this affects.

I also have the same problem.
I can no longer use my steam account to play. I only see a check box "Guest user" instead of the usual "Use Steam account." The strange thing is that this only happens to those who use an Apple computer. My girlfriend using Windows can safely use his steam account.
I use a Mac OSX 10.5.8 with Steam.
This is for me a very big problem. Why in my steam account is my main character with whom I have purchased Energy. And do not think it's just not able to log.

Could those with this problem could please specify which version of Java is listed at the top of their Java Preferences? Please list this along side your version of OSX.
Alternately, please submit a bug report when the game does not show you the correct log in screen. You can submit a report any time the game client is open by pressing F2.

Also, I already tried changing between the order of Java versions and it had no effect. (The other versions of Java I have tried putting at the top of my list are "J2SE 5.0" 64 bit and "Java SE 6" 64 bit.)

Thanks Helios. We've all tried the same thing, none of the 3 versions of java we can select will change anything. At least we know it's only affecting OS 10.5.8
Maybe it's a sign we should upgrade from leopard guys. lol

Well I'd rather not have to upgrade just for Spiral Knights, Crabado, but at this rate... :P
I guess I'm lucky in that this is mainly affecting me while I'm abroad working. A game like Spiral Knights I want to dip into and out of, and my old MacBook suits that purpose perfectly. I'd rather not have to wait until I'm back home, where my gaming desktop PC is, just to play Spiral Knights. Especially as I'm unlikely to be back for quite some time.

I have tried logging in using my steam username and password (doesn't work), then i try my SK name and password but still nothing!! Problem only for Macs
I believe this is a problem that only occurs on macs.
I tried it on my brother's computer and it seems to work fine.
However, he doesn't like me using his computer so I have to stick with my mac.
It may be, that since Macs use Java to open up Spiral Knights, the new update may have deleted the steam sign in option for macs.
I am trusting that OOO will solve this in a week or two.

Just a thought...
Was just wondering if it was possible to somehow link our Steam account to Facebook and log in via Facebook as I notice that is an option (logging in via Facebook that is) Presuming it isn't though, or it would have already been suggested as a way to get past the problem while we waited for it to be fixed.
Edit: As a side note, just noticed that the problem seems to be related to part of the game closing. When you click play, Steam registers as you being in-game. Keeping an eye on my Dock, I noticed that two applications pop up one after the other; both are named "Spiral Knights". I presume the first one is simply an installer checking for updates, but the moment it closes Steam counts me as being just "Online" not "In Game". And then the game starts shortly after this.
No idea if that helps at all, or even has any real relevance, but I thought I'd throw it in there.

Exactly the same problem running mac OSx 10.5.8 and Spiral knights does not have the steam login button. I have tried reinstalling the game as well but it dosent seem to help. I have also tried rearranging my Java preferences as well and still i cant log in via steam...

i had this problem as whell but i got it working. all i did was log out of steam then logged back in and it worked, make sure u dont use the auto/keep me signed in feature, input your username and password manually. i dont know if this will help any one else, but it worked for me.

Restart the steam client/your PC until it decides to work.
I have that problem sometimes and I dont know what causes it, yet it gets 'fixed' when I do that.
