Sure snipes are cute. But why don't we have flying enemies? Malevolent birds? Dangerous dragons? This is a 3D game, innit? So why don't we have enemies that can fly above knights? You'd have to shoot them down, or try and climb onto them to stab them.
Flying Enemies
No, I mean...
facepalm.
It's not as 2D as Zelda, right? So why not have enemies that can fly above you? Use a shadow drop and anti aliasing should make it obvious that they're ABOVE you, no? It'd be cool to fight enemies that can dodge above you so you can't hit them. Then your gun has to lock onto them to shoot or you need to try and catch them to beat them with your sword.
I've played SK. I know the dimensional level of the graphics.
Read the post. I'm not talking about Kats or Phantoms, I mean actual enemies that can fly out of reach and stuff.
So moths don't count at all?
No offense, really, but I can't see what you're asking for being within the scope of the game. People already get irritated enough at enemies that are annoying to chase.
What happens if someone doesn't bring guns, by the way -- which is very common?
It'd be nice to have enemies like the bats and vultures from Diablo 2 that fly up into the air and are invulnerable for a while, then suddenly swoop down and attack.
So in short, you are advocating that more enemies be more irritating to kill.
Hey man, let's make it so that Wolvers are invisible and have jet packs and can teleport into the air to charge their attack and then teleport behind you to attack you and then teleport into the air again before you can turn and swing at them!
Immersion!
I am literally frothing at the mouth in rage at these newfound wolvers you have conjured.
Hazel, how would these proposed wolvers differ from the current T3 wolvers? XD
Seriously, I've seen them pop out of the ground with an attack already charged and kill someone.
Running joke in my vent when someone doesn't know how they took damage or died? "Wolver did it!"
"Hazel, how would these proposed wolvers differ from the current T3 wolvers? XD"
Revision to my idea: No attack charge or attack delay. Wolvers that are in a costant state of teleporting, jetpacking attacking.
Like an invincible homing rocket puppy that can fire twenty rockets at once.
All I want is a little variety in the strategy for killing enemies, lol. It's not like I'm asking for sharks with lasers attached to their frickin heads!
That, and dragons are just BAMF.
PS: Why just 20? We could make it a bullet hell! Twenty...THOUSAND rockets at once! It'd be like instagib...
Ramune, you show me how to fire my gun upwards or downwards to hit EXISTING ENEMIES that are off my current Z-plane and I'll consider your idea.
How about: flying enemies whose flying consists solely of being able to 'walk' over pits and the little walls you can shoot over?
I've never really understood why kats/moths/bats can't do this already.
I think the 'fly super high so as to be invincible' Idea is kinda stupid... at least outside of boss battles.
A dragon boss that flys into the sky to rain fire? acceptable.
A random mob who becomes invincible occasionally? It'd be like the gremlins fleeing into thorn pits, but worse!
Can you imagine a challenge room filled with those? *shudder*
Problem with the "flying but only over barriers" plan is that their drops could be lost entirely if you kill them in the wrong spot. If you could handle that, then they'd basically function like killable phantoms. That could be cool.
Drops already don't drop on anything that can't be walked on at the time, there shouldn't be much issue in that respect.
I suppose three rings would have to fix some of how their "heights" are managed.
You may have noticed how when you knock a phantom into a wall it appears on top of the wall, and how rockets from puppies fall to depth 0 when they need to fly over pits.
Ignoring the visuals, isn't this game actually 2D? It's why there isn't anything like an underpass and why when you put things down, like the totems, you can put them on top of buildings.
Jetpack wolvers, prepare for Tier 4, prepare for...THE CORE!
DarthLOL, no. It's a 2D game with 3D graphics. There's no Z-plane shenanigans to deal with.
Actually, you CAN shoot at existing monsters upwards...all it takes is one unlucky phantom and a large wall. Get them stuck up on tom and your bullets deal damage and you can target them just like any other monster. But maybe hamiltond465 is right...maybe there should just be one flying boss and not z-plane flying enemies. Or flying enemies that can go over gaps to catch you...idk.
This game isn't the 3D you're thinking of...
